Burner control device
The present invention relates to a device for controlling a burner which is characterized in that it comprises a detector responding to a determined relative proportion of carbon monoxide of the atmosphere in which it is immersed as well as to a determined temperature, this detector being mounted in the atmosphere surrounding the burner and out of contact with the flame thereof but in a temperature exchange relationship with the burner, and in that the detector is connected to a control device of the burner, the whole so that the detector causes the actuation of the control device when the relative proportion of carbon monoxide reaches said determined value or when the burner stops bringing the detector to said determined temperature.
The drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the device:
Fig. 1 is a schematic view of a first embodiment, and
fig. 2 is a corresponding view of a second embodiment.
The control device shown in FIG. 1 cooperates with a burner 20 with primary ventilation. The burner 20 comprises a body 11, an adjacent chamber 12 fixed laterally to the body 11. The chamber is fixed to the body 11 so as to ensure easy heat exchange between them. The chamber 12 comprises a detector 13 which is sensitive to carbon monoxide and to the temperature of the burner 20. An inlet port 14 is provided in the upper part of the chamber 12, to allow the entry of the surrounding ambient atmosphere. burner 10, as indicated by the arrow. An inlet orifice 15 is also provided in the lower part of the body 11, to allow the passage of the ambient atmosphere from the chamber to the interior of the body 11, this as indicated by the arrow. When it has entered the body 11, the ambient air mixes with the fuel supplied to the burner.
A bimetal blade 16 is housed in the chamber 12. This blade serves to regulate the flow of air through the orifice 14 and therefore into the chamber 12.
The detector 13 reacts to the temperature of the burner only, or to certain determined levels of carbon monoxide and for certain determined temperatures.
It comprises a layer of tin oxide or the like disposed on a support. Tin oxide reacts to changes in temperature or the level of carbon monoxide at certain temperatures, changing its electrical properties, such as its resistance. Thus, when the detector 13 is placed in a burner, as shown in FIG. 17, where it is mounted in a chamber 12 so that the heat exchanges can easily take place with the body 11, the electrical energy being supplied by a source 17 feeding a valve 18 housed in the fuel supply line of the burner 10, the detector will adjust the fuel flow according to the temperature of the burner or the level of carbon monoxide contained in the ambient air of the burner when this level exceeds a determined value.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 2 relates to a burner 20 without primary ventilation. The burner 20 comprises a body 1 1 having an adjacent chamber 12.
The chamber 12 is fixed to the body 1 1 so that the heat exchanges can be carried out easily with the latter. The chamber 12 contains a detector 13 arranged in the same way as in FIG. 1. In this type of burner, chamber 12 has an intake orifice 21 opening out into the lower part of chamber 12 to allow the admission of ambient air as indicated by the arrow. An outlet 22 is provided in the upper part of the chamber 12 to allow the exit of the air which has entered the chamber 12. A bimetal blade 16 is mounted so as to regulate the flow of ambient air through. chamber 12, this as a function of the temperature of the air which itself depends on the temperature of the housing and on the flow speed.
It will be seen that the device according to FIG. 2 operates in the same way as the device according to FIG. 1.
