Fig. 3 zeigt, in gegenüber der Wirklichkeit verzerrten
Electric alternating voltage capacitor with dielectric containing plastic tapes
The invention relates to an electrical alternating voltage capacitor with a dielectric containing plastic strips, which is impregnated with a liquid impregnating agent.
DC voltage capacitors, in particular those with small capacitance values and for voltages below 1000 V, now contain a dielectric made of plastic strips without impregnation instead of the previously used impregnated paper. This applies both to capacitors with coatings made of metal foils and to those with vapor-deposited coatings.
Although plastic tapes appear particularly suitable for AC capacitors because of their very low dielectric losses in some cases, the changeover from paper to plastic is very slow, especially for power capacitors. Economic considerations aside, the reason for this is that there are still technical difficulties in the way. Because of the lower dielectric constant compared to paper, plastic capacitors with the same specific power have to be subjected to higher electrical loads than capacitors with paper dielectric.
Capacitors with a plastic dielectric must therefore be impregnated with a liquid insulating agent that fills the spaces between the individual layers of the dielectric and the capacitor coverings, taking into account the high operating field strengths and the mostly high operating voltages of 380 V and above in order to avoid harmful glow discharges.
Impregnants, which have proven their worth in capacitors with paper as the dielectric, are often unsuitable or only suitable to a limited extent for capacitors with plastic dielectric, because the plastic either completely dissolves in the usual impregnation agents or its mechanical and electrical strength is due to the impregnation agent is so deteriorated that the capacitors have only a short life. Plastic tapes in the chlorinated diphenyls, which are often used for capacitors with paper dielectric, and whose polar character promotes the dissolution of the plastics, show particularly strong signs of decomposition. On the other hand, capacitor and transformer oils based on mineral oil can only be used to a limited extent as impregnating agents for capacitors with a plastic dielectric.
For example, in capacitor oils such as those used for self-healing MP capacitors, some plastics show signs of dissolution.
Oil-impregnated plastic dielectrics have been used on an experimental basis in the manufacture of high-voltage cables. However, the thermal and electrical stress on plastics is lower in cables than in power capacitors.
There are also known capacitors whose coverings consist of paper tapes vapor-deposited on both sides and whose dielectric consists of plastic tapes. The impregnating agent of such capacitors is solid at operating temperature, so dissolution processes are much slower. However, because of the shrinkage cavities in the impregnation agent, these capacitors have a tendency to glow discharges and are only suitable to a limited extent for alternating voltage loads.
Also known are capacitors with what is known as a mixed dielectric, in which part of the paper dielectric is replaced by plastic, with nothing more being said about the impregnating agent than that it can be solid or liquid. With regard to the suitable liquid impregnating agents for capacitors, it is only recommended in general that highly refined oils with a low content of aromatic compounds be used. Such oils are expensive because of their manufacturing process. Therefore, on the one hand, the aromatics content will not be chosen to be lower than is necessary, on the other hand it has been shown that there are plastics for which oils containing aromatics are particularly suitable.
The present invention has set itself the task of verifying the accuracy of the previously known, each other z. To check sometimes contradicting information and to clarify which liquid impregnation agents are particularly suitable for capacitors made of different types of plastic in terms of quality and economy. Investigations into the change in the mechanical and electrical properties of various plastic tapes that have been exposed to various liquid impregnation agents in the absence of atmospheric oxygen with and without electrical stress have shown that the service life of an impregnated plastic dielectric depends on the chemical composition of the impregnation agent, and under otherwise identical conditions mainly depends on its content of aromatic compounds.
There are plastics for which impregnating agents with a high aromatic content can be used, and other plastics that can only be treated with impregnating agents whose aromatic content is very low. If the chemical structure of the examined plastics itself is also taken into account, there is a relationship between the aromatic content of the plastics and the impregnating agent, which will be explained below, with the same service life.
The structural formulas for polycarbonate, polystyrene, three different types of terephthalic acid esters, polyethylene and polypropylene are summarized in the following table, including the content CA of aromatically bonded and Cp of paraffinically bonded carbon atoms.

Furthermore, the relationship between CA value, Cp value and type of plastic is shown in diagram form in FIG. 1. Cp values increasing from 0-100% are plotted on the abscissa from left to right and, in addition, the plastics in Table 1 are entered at their Cp value. The CA values are also plotted on the ordinate from 0-100 / o.
The corresponding value for each plastic above the corresponding Cp value can be read off on a straight line connecting the end values of Cp, where CA = 1-Cp. Since this diagram only applies to plastics, the CA and Cp values in Fig. 1 are provided with the additional index (K).
In Fig. 2, on the abscissa as in Fig. 1, the CP (K)
Values of the plastics are plotted, but on the ordinate the C, o values, i.e. the aromatically bound carbon content in the impregnating agent, which leads to the same service life in plastics with different Cp (K) values. Nothing is said about the nature of the other components of the impregnating agent, they can consist of aliphatic and / or naphthenic components.
The permissible CA (T) values of the impregnating agent are within the hatched scatter area. A comparison of the diagrams according to FIGS. 1 and 2 shows the surprising and theoretically not yet fully clarified result that when the C, (w value of a plastic (Fig. 1) the C, o, value of the impregnating agent (Fig. 2) decreases increases.
The relationship between the CA (T) value of the impregnating agent and the Cp ,, rvalue of a
Plastic in Fig. 2 can only be represented by the relationship:
CA (T) = K Cp (K) n
According to the invention is therefore proposed a
Select impregnating agents for capacitors, the dielectric of which is wholly or partially made of plastic, so that the relationship CA (T) = K Cp (Kçn is fulfilled, where the constant K values from 0.16 to 0.33 and the exponent n values from 2.0 to 3.0.
Aromatic proportions in the impregnating agent outside the specified values are to be excluded and lower due to the increasing shortening of the service life due to dissolution phenomena, especially with higher aromatic proportions
Aromatic proportions than the stated values because with increasing degree of refining, i.e. with decreasing
Aromatic content, the price of the impregnating agent increases significantly. A preferred value for the constant K is 0.2 and for the exponent n 2.5.
The selection according to the invention of the suitable
Impregnating agent is explained using the following examples:
Fig. 3 shows distorted in relation to reality
Size ratios the structure of a capacitor, the sen assignments of Al foils 1 and 2 and its Dielek trikum of one or more Polyäthylenglykoltere phthalate tapes 3 and 4 exist.
The paraffinically bound carbon CP (K) in this plastic is 40 0/0 equal to 0.4. Calculated according to the specified relationship or read from Fig. 2, a liquid Tränkmit tel with an aromatic content CMT) of 1-5%, preferably 2 0/0, is to be selected for such a condenser. A transformer oil with an aromatic content of
5/0, but even better, a more highly refined mineral oil with an aromatic content of 1-2 / o is possible. The required aromatic content can also be achieved by mixing an impregnating agent with a higher aromatic content and a more highly refined oil with a lower aromatic content.
4 shows the structure of a self-healing single-layer capacitor made of polypropylene tapes 5 and 6, each of which has a vapor-deposited coating 7 or
8, and FIG. 5 shows the structure of a likewise low-loss self-healing capacitor, one of which consists of an aluminum foil 10 and the other of which consists of a paper strip 20 vapor-deposited on both sides with the vapor-deposited layers 21 and 22 of the same potential.
Polypropylene tapes 13 and 14 form the dielectric.
The Cp (K) value of polypropylene is 100 / o = 1.0. For the impregnation of the capacitors according to FIGS. 4 and 5, a liquid impregnating agent is to be used according to the invention, whose CA (T) value, calculated according to the given relationship or read from FIG. 2, is not higher than 33% and not lower than 16 0 / Is 0. Accordingly, an alkylbenzene with 33 / o aromatically bound carbon (e.g. dodecylbenzene) or a condenser oil with a CA (T) value of 16 / o can be used as the impregnating agent. Mixtures of the two substances with an aromatic content between 16 and 33% can also be used.
6 also shows the structure of a low-loss, self-healing capacitor which contains two paper strips 30 and 31 vapor-deposited on both sides with coverings 32 and 33 or 34 and 35 each with the same potential and a dielectric made of polycarbonate strips 36 and 37.
Finally, according to FIG. 7, coverings 42 and 43 are vapor-deposited onto paper strips 40 and 41. The paper tapes 40 and 41 are part of the dielectric, its
The rest also consists of a polycarbonate tape 44 and 45 each.
The paraffinically bound carbon contained in the polycarbonate tapes of the capacitors according to FIGS. 6 and 7 is Cp (K 25 / o = 0.25. According to the invention, an impregnating oil with an aromatic content CA (T) of 0.5 to 2 0/0 is accordingly to be used, which can e.g. consist of a highly refined mineral oil with an aromatic content of <1 / o.
