Beispiel I

Process for the preparation of azo compounds
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of compounds of the phenylazonaphthalene series, which are excellently suited as pigments for coloring plastics.
The new compounds correspond to the formula
EMI1.1
wherein Rt is a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl or aryl radical, R2 is an optionally substituted aliphatic
A radical or an optionally substituted alkoxy group, the symbols R, independently of one another, a hydrogen or halogen atom. a cyano or nitro group or an optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy radical, the two X independently of one another a group of the formula CO or SO and n I or 2, and the molecule is free of carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid radicals.
All alkyl and alkoxy radicals and said aliphatic radical preferably contain 1, 2, 3 or 4 carbon atoms and can be used as substituents e.g. B.
Halogen atoms, cyano, alkoxy, acyl, acyloxy, acyla mino- or optionally further substituted aromatic radicals, which are generally to be understood here as meaning optionally substituted phenyl radicals.
Preferred halogen atoms are generally chlorine or bromine atoms. but also fluorine atoms, e.g. B. as substituents of one or more alkyl groups (as radicals R.) Come into consideration.
Optionally substituted aliphatic radicals (R 1) are to be understood as meaning not only alkyl radicals (as defined above) but also unsaturated radicals, in particular vinyl radicals.
The aromatic radicals mentioned as possible substituents on the alkyl, alkoxy and aliphatic radicals can be used as substituents e.g. B. tTalogen atoms, especially chlorine or bromine atoms, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, cyano, acyl, acyloxy or acylamino groups carry.
Acyl is preferably to be understood as meaning radicals of the formulas RY- or R¯Z-, in which R is a hydrocarbon radical which may carry substituents (as described above) which do not render water solubility and / or may contain heteroatoms, preferably an optionally substituted alkyl or Phenyl radical (as defined above), Y a group of the formula -O-CO- or -SO2-, R 'a hydrogen atom or R.
Z is a group of the formula -CO-, NR "CO- or NR" SOr un, d R "is a hydrogen atom or R is.
The new compounds of the formula (I) are prepared by diazotizing an amine of the formula
EMI2.1
and coupling the resulting diazonium compound with a compound of the formula
EMI2.2
The reaction conditions for diazotization and coupling have been known for over 100 years. Peter Gnes, Liebigs Ann. Chem. 137, 39 (1866)] therefore no further explanation is required here.
The compounds of the formula (I) can also be prepared by condensation of an aminoazo compound of the formula
EMI2.3
with an acid halide of the formula Hal-X-R- (V) in well known manner, e.g. B.
in an inert organic solvent (xylene, nitrobenzene or a chlorobenzene etc.). preferably in the presence of acid-binding agents. z. B. alkali carbonates, bicarbonates or acetates. at temperatures between about 60 and 16 () C.
The inventive monoazo pigments are z. B. for coloring plastic compounds.
which means solvent-free and solvent-containing compounds made of plastics or synthetic resins (in paints on an oily or watery basis, in varnishes of various kinds. For spin-dyeing viscose or cellulose acetate, for pigmenting polyethylene, polystyrene, PVC, rubber and synthetic leather). They can also be used in printing inks for graphic fabrics, for paper pulp coloring for the coating of textiles or for pigment printing.
The dyeings obtained are outstandingly fast to migration and light, have good to very good washing, chlorine bleaching, hypochlorite, bleaching and over-dyeing. Blind vat, hydrosulfite, peroxide bleach, dry cleaning, rub, varnish and solvent fastness and are characterized by good transparency and heat resistance.
The parts mentioned in the examples are parts by weight and the percentages are percentages by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example I.
3.44 parts of 1-aminobenzene-4-sulfonic acid amide are dissolved in 30 parts of water and 8 parts of hydrochloric acid (30 / o) and then diazotized at 05 with 5 parts of 4N sodium nitrite solution. The filtered diazonium solution is adjusted to pH 3.5 with aqueous sodium acetate solution. A solution of 6.4 parts of 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid 4'-acetylaminophenylamide in 50 parts of methyl alcohol and 6 parts of sodium hydroxide solution (30%) is then allowed to run in over the course of 30 minutes
After stirring for hours, the mixture is heated to 80 and filtered.
The residue is washed and dried at 60 in vacuo. 10.6 parts of a red pigment are obtained. B. in plasticizer-containing PVC there are migration and heat-resistant dyeings with very good lightfastness.
The colorations are purer, stronger and more brilliant when the pigment is heated with a solvent, e.g. B. toluene, nitrobenzene, pyridine, dimethyl sulfoxy or dimethylformamide is treated.
The table below shows further diazo components (diazotizable amines) and coupling components which, according to the working instructions of Example 1, lead to valuable pigments.
