Abstract
Extension of useful life of rectangular steel moulding ingot mould comprises designing its outer larger surface to be flat over a sufficiently large area to enable the mould to be used as bottom plate after it is no longer useable as a mould, thus extending its period of usefulness. When used as bottom plate the mould is laid sideways and supported by a block so as to form a horizontal support for the new ingot mould being placed on top of it.
