Exercise device and its use
The invention relates to a training device for foot and knee joints, for strengthening the corresponding muscles and blood flow to the vessels, and the use of the training device.
Exercise equipment for this purpose is known in the form of bicycle trainers. It is known that muscle power is transmitted to the pedals of a crank drive in this device, as is common on a bicycle. The driven wheel works on a roller system so that the machine can be operated while stationary.
The area required for space and the cost of these known training devices are relatively large. In addition, the muscles and joints of the lower body extremities are only stressed in one direction, which is dependent on the direction of the functional sequence of the crank drive.
The invention is based on the object of creating a training device at relatively low cost and requiring little space, with which the muscles and joints of the lower body extremities can be continuously stressed in a larger functional range of the directional components.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that a wheel with a foot rest is arranged at one end of an axle and that the axle is supported with its other end in an elastic support.
The device according to the invention is used for alternately bending and stretching one leg each and correspondingly shifting the center of gravity of the body of a person standing on the wheel, the wheel circumference tire being made to roll on the ground.
The elastic support preferably contains a hard, non-elastic bearing socket and this can have a conical recess with rounded edges.
The axis can be rounded at its end mounted in the bearing socket.
In the following, an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention and the use thereof will be described with reference to the accompanying drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the training device in use,
2 shows a section through the support with the axis broken off.
The support 1 made of rubber contains the bearing socket 2 made of a hard bearing material. The bearing socket 2 has a conical bore with a rounded end. The end of the axle 3, which is also rounded, rolls off in the bearing socket 2, while the other end of the axle 3 is fastened in the hub 4. The spokes 5 are also anchored on the hub 4. The spokes 5 carry the wheel circumference tire 6. The foot rests 7 and 7 'are fastened with the spokes 5 and the wheel circumference tire 6.
The knee 8 is bent in the position shown, while the knee 9 is extended. Due to the inclined support of the foot 11, the ankle joint 10 is pressed outwards. The ankle joint 10 is largely loaded with the entire body weight. By temporarily shifting the body's center of gravity slightly forwards and stretching the knee 8 while bending the knee 9 at the same time, the wheel circumference tire 6 rolls along the floor to under the now standing leg with the now extended knee 8. By temporarily slightly shifting the center of gravity backwards and stretching the knee 9 while bending the knee 8, the remaining 1800 of the wheel circumference tire 6 are now rolled along the floor and the training device is back in the initial position shown.
By alternately loading the knee and ankle joints, these and the corresponding muscles are trained. The blood vessels are increasingly supplied with blood and prevent varicose veins, for example.
The training device is therefore especially suitable for accident convalescents and for athletes in various disciplines.
