Method and device for generating a signal for determining the longitudinal movement of a thread-like or band-like material
The invention relates both to a method for generating a signal for determining the longitudinal movement of a thread-like or strip-like material and to a device for carrying out this method.
The signal obtained can be used in a known manner, e.g. B.
by a resonator or, in the case of an electrical signal, by a transistor amplifier, amplified to the required level and evaluated in terms of circuit technology so that a switching process is triggered if the signal is absent.
The determination of the movement of thread-like or tape-like material is of great importance for machines that produce or process these materials in order to be able to shut down the machine in question or to trigger an alarm signal if these materials are torn off or their complete processing or transport disruptions.
There are known methods of generating a signal to determine the longitudinal movements of fingers in text machines, e.g. B. in a photo-optical way, in that the uneven thread diameter more or less covers a light beam during the longitudinal movement of the thread and a photoelectric converter converts the light fluctuations into voltage or current fluctuations.
Furthermore, a capacitive method utilizes the change in capacitance that results when the thread passes through a capacitor-like structure due to the uneven thread density, the thread representing part of the dielectric between the capacitor electrodes. These known methods only work with materials that have changes in cross-section or density in their longitudinal direction and fail with smooth materials with a constant cross-section, e.g. B. plastic threads or thin metal wires. A further disadvantage of this method is the sensitivity to contamination and the high price given by the effort and precision required.
It is also known to use the electrostatic charges generated by friction on textile threads directly to control amplifiers. However, this method is only applicable to materials with high insulation resistance and fails e.g. for thin wires or strips made of conductive material. In addition, this method requires an extremely high-impedance amplifier input, which makes the amplifier sensitive to strength fields.
The invention aims to obviate the disadvantages and shortcomings of the above-mentioned methods.
This is achieved by the method according to the invention in that the material is brought into frictional contact with a mechanical oscillation structure on which a restoring force acts, so that the longitudinal movement of the material, due to the difference between static and sliding friction, excites a forced oscillation of the oscillation structure, which Vibration is converted into a signal by a transducer.
The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method according to the invention, which is characterized in that the mechanical oscillation structure, on which a restoring force acts, has a guide element over which the thread or band-shaped material runs and gives the oscillation structure a forced oscillation, and that a transducer interacts with the oscillation structure to convert the oscillation into a signal.
In the accompanying drawings, three exemplary embodiments of devices for carrying out the method according to the invention are shown.
1 shows the basic construction in section of an embodiment where the device comprises a piezoelectric transducer.
In Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1 in the direction of arrow A is shown.
In Fig. 3, the basic structure is shown in section of an embodiment in which the device comprises an inductive converter.
FIG. 4 is a section along the line IVIV of FIG. 3.
In FIG. 5, the structure of an embodiment in which the device comprises a photo-electrical converter is shown schematically.
In the housing 1 (Fig. 1) an insulating body 2 is firmly attached, in which I the torsionally elastic piezoelectric
Converter 3 is attached. At its free end, the platelet-shaped transducer 3 carries the hub body 4 of the sensing element, s 5 of the mechanical oscillation structure, which protrudes through the bore 41 in the front wall 39 of the housing 1. A thread-like body 6 is from
Sensing organ 5 deflected and thereby exerts a certain graft on the feeling organ. In the front wall 39 of the
Housing 1 are attached to each side of the hub 4 with the sensing member 5 connecting arm 40 pins 7 and 8 as limit stops for the deflection of the sensing organ.
The electrical connections 9 and 10 are connected to the piezoelectric transducer 3 by means of electrical conductors 42, 43. The sensing element 5 is designed in such a way that its center of gravity falls into the axis of the hub body 4. This prevents torsional movements of the device when the device moves perpendicular to this axis (shocks, vibrations of the device, etc.) and there is no thread
Sensing organ 5 can arise.
The operation of the device according to FIGS. 1 and
2 is as follows:
If the thread or strip-like material 6 pressing on the sensing element 5 is moved in its longitudinal direction, the sensing element 5, which is elastically resiliently supported on the transducer 3 in this direction, is
Frictional force between material 6 and sensing element 5 moves along. This creates a restoring force that grows with the deflection of the sensing element 5 from its rest position, which grows until it becomes equal to the frictional force between material 6 and sensing element 5. The sensing element 5 is no longer moved along with the speed of movement of the material 6 - took.
There is then a relative movement, a sliding, with friction between the thread-like or Jband-shaped material 6 and the sensing element 5. This sliding friction force is smaller than the friction force without relative movement (friction force of rest), so that the restoring force counteracts the sensing element 5 moved back to its rest position. The restoring force is reduced until the sensing element 5 reaches a position where the restoring force and sliding friction force are in equilibrium. Up to this position, the sensing element 5 is accelerated towards its rest position.
Due to its inertia, it gets beyond this point, with the sliding friction then delaying its movement (towards the rest position) until it comes to a standstill and then in the opposite direction, i.e. accelerated in the same direction as that of the moving material 6 until the restoring force and the sliding friction force are again in balance. From now on, the sensing element 5 is decelerated to a standstill by the restoring force and then accelerated again in the opposite direction, etc.
The sensing element 5 thus executes an oscillatory movement around a central position, this central position being different from the rest position and depending on the increase in the restoring force as a function of the deflection (suspension characteristic) and the size of the frictional force of the movement on the sensing element 5 . The frequency of this oscillation movement depends, with low damping, on the reduced mass or weight at the point of application of the frictional force of the strip or thread-like material 6. The moment of inertia and the suspension characteristics and their amplitude depend on the suspension characteristics, the magnitude of the frictional force of the rest of the ribbon or thread-like material 6 on the sensing element 5 and the speed of movement of this ribbon or thread-like material 6.
With the correct choice and coordination of all these parameters, it can be achieved that the linear speed of the point of application of the frictional force on the sensing element 5, which varies periodically over time and is frequency and amplitude dependent, at any point in time is the same size and direction as the linear speed of movement of the tape - or thread-like material 6. At this moment the frictional force rises again to the greater value of rest and the game begins again. The oscillation of the Schnvingungsgebildes forced in this way is converted by the converter 3 into an electrical signal.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the housing is denoted by 11, in which a rubber-elastic restoring member 12 is attached. The axis 13 of the sensing element 15 of the mechanical oscillating structure is mounted in this restoring member 12 and is also firmly connected to it. At its inner end, the axis 13 carries a plate-shaped magnet 14 which can move in a magnet frame 16.
An electrical winding 17, the ends of which lead to the connections 18 and 19, which are embedded in the insulating plate 20 fastened in the housing 11, is carried by the poles 21, 44 of the magnet frame.
Stop pins 22, 23 limit the rotation of the sensing element 15. The mechanical oscillation structure is excited here in the same way as in the first example to a forced oscillation, which is converted into a signal by the inductive transducer 14, 16, 17, 21, 44 becomes.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 5, the sensing element 28 of the mechanical oscillation structure is designed as a one-armed t3 lever, which is connected to the axis 26. Similar to the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, this is fastened in the rubber-elastic restoring member 25, which is firmly connected to the housing part 24. At the inner end, the axis 26 carries a slit screen 30. This is dimensioned such that it maintains the balance of the sensing element 28 with respect to the axis 26.
The light source 35 with connections 36, 37 is arranged in the housing part 38 opposite the slit diaphragm 30 and the fixed photoelectric converter 32 with the slit diaphragm 31 including connections 33, 34 is arranged in the housing part 24 opposite the light source 35. With 6 the thread-like material pressing on the sensing element 28 and with 27 a stop pin for the sensing element is indicated.
In this example, too, the mechanical oscillation structure is given a forced oscillation in the manner described, which oscillation is converted into a signal by the photoelectric converter.
The advantages of the invention are the independence of the optical, electrical and mechanical properties of the filamentary or tape-like material to be scanned, the adaptability to the electrical pulse generator which is favorable for the respective case, the simple compact mechanical structure without bearings and moving parts in the usual sense, since the tactile organ is only held resiliently and makes very small movements.
