Description

Metal tin for cans with cap closure The main patent NI) 474423 relates to a tin tin for cans with cap closure. This metal box according to the claim of the main patent is characterized in that its edge is rolled outwards and in that the cap has a skirt provided with a hemmed edge composed of portions interrupted by slits, the height of the skirt being between 2 and 4 mm.

The embodiment described in the main patent relates to a box having a cylindrical stamped body. Metal boxes with a frustoconical body have previously been produced, the angle at the apex of the corresponding cone being generally equal to a few degrees. Such can bodies have the important advantage of being able to fit into one another when empty, which considerably reduces the volume required for storage and facilitates handling.

However, the tins with a frustoconical stamped body of the prior art are provided with a crimped lid, and the production of a tin can closed by a crown cap with a short skirt and having a tapered stamped body raises certain difficulties.

In particular, as soon as the taper becomes low (half-angle at the top of the cone less than 50, for example), there is a risk of jamming of the nested bodies, preventing the minimum bulk from being obtained and even rendering the separation of the nested bodies. difficult body.

The present invention proposes to overcome these diffi culties and to produce a box with a tronconi stamped body, in accordance with the claim of the main patent.

This box is characterized in that the stamped body of said box comprises, between its edge rolled towards the outside and a frustoconical main portion, a cylindrical intermediate strip which makes it possible to maintain constant the interval between the edges of two nested bodies, whatever the height of said bodies.

In the accompanying drawing, FIG. 1 is a view, in elevation in its left half, in section in its right half, of a box body according to one embodiment of the invention, the left part showing several nested bodies and FIG. 2 is a partial view, on a larger scale, of the profile of two nested bodies.

The body of the box shown, like that which was described in the main patent, has a rolled upper edge constituting a bulge 1. This bulge is intended to cooperate with a crown cap with a short skirt of the type described in the main patent, which closes the box. It can be seen that the body of the box has a frustoconical main part (2-2a or 2b) connected to a cylindrical strip (3, 3a or 3b), which ends with the rolled edge.

By way of non-limiting example, the angle formed by the generatrices of the two parts 2 and 3 is of the order of 50, the total height b (fig. 2) of the cylindrical edge is of the order of 5 mm, and the rounded transition parts, such as 4a-5a have a radius of curvature of 0.75 mm. With these numerical values, the interval c between the edges of two nested bodies is of the order of 4 mm, whatever the height of the box. For an individual height of 24 mm, one hundred nested bodies have an overall height of only 420 mm. Fig. 2 clearly shows that there is no risk of jamming.
