lable;
La fig. 1 est une vue en coupe représentant le dispositif fixé sur la pince et prévu pour les contacts femelle interne et mâle externe;
les fig. 2. 3 et 4 sont des vues de détail;
les fig. 5 à 8 sont des vues semblables à la fig. 1, les organes se trouvant dans différentes positions afin d'expliquer le fonctionnement;
la fig. 9 est une vue semblable à la fig. 1, le dispositif étant conçu pour des contacts femelle externe et mâle interne;
Device for assembling male and female coaxial contacts by crimping
to a coaxial conductor
The present invention relates to a device for assembling by crimping the male and female coaxial contacts to a coaxial conductor.
Until now, the assembly of the external contact and the internal contact has been carried out by simple interlocking of the contacts, which was left to the sole initiative of the operator who, by his skill, judged the correct positioning of these contacts.
It is understood that, under these conditions, the establishment of the ferrule could cause a displacement of the internal contact with respect to the external contact.
The placement of the assembled contact in the currently existing positioning is not visually controllable because the assembly is located inside the die of the clamp.
The disadvantages are, in summary, the following:
I) the position of the internal contact is not checked
lable;
2) assembly is a delicate operation:
3) a check is necessary after assembly.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and the device it proposes is characterized in that it comprises a guide sleeve cooperating with the die of a crimping pliers and extending laterally with respect to the pliers. to which it is fixed and inside which can move a sliding assembly comprising a sleeve inside which there is a cylindrical part which, on the side of the die, carries one or more positioning and stop members for them. contacts and in that in this guide sleeve is provided a window, the whole so that the end of this assembly can be brought by sliding outside the crimping die in a position where the window is made visible for check the position of the contacts,
The assembly is then returned to its original position under the action of a return means.
In order to make the invention fully understood, a non-limiting example of an embodiment thereof will be described below with reference to the drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a sectional view showing the device fixed to the clamp and provided for the internal female and external male contacts;
figs. 2. 3 and 4 are detail views;
figs. 5 to 8 are views similar to FIG. 1, the organs in different positions in order to explain the operation;
fig. 9 is a view similar to FIG. 1, the device being designed for external female and internal male contacts;
figs. 10 and 11 are detail views,
figs. 12 and 13 are intended to illustrate the operation of the device of FIG. 9.
In fig. ] of the accompanying drawings, there is shown at 1 the die of a crimping pliers provided with the indenters 2 and comprising the flanges 3 and 4.
The apparatus comprises a guide sleeve 5 which extends laterally with respect to the clamp and, on the side thereof, is provided with a base 6 engaging in a recess 7 of an intermediate part 8 and taking support against the internal face of the flange 4.
Inside the guide sleeve 5 can move a sliding assembly which is formed by a sleeve 9 provided on the die side with a stop 10 which can come into contact with the guide sleeve 5, while at the end of the die. 'other end it is provided with a tapping] I into which is screwed a plug 12 provided with a head 13 having a diameter substantially equal to that of the sleeve 5 and provided with a peripheral rim 14 between which and the flange 4 is provided with a coil spring 15.
Between an internal circular stop 16 and the stopper 12 is provided a cylindrical part 17 which, on the gripper side, carries a pin 18.
At the location of the stop 16, the sleeve 9 is pierced with a window 19.
In fig. 2, there is shown the end of an inner cable 20 covered with an insulator 21, on which there is a braid 22 which constitutes the outer cable coaxial with the cable 20 and provided in turn with an insulator 23 around which There is a ferrule 24 which will be discussed below.
In fig. 3, there is shown a contact 25 which must be placed in electrical connection with the internal cable 20 and which constitutes the internal female contact.
Fig. 4 shows the external male contact 26 provided with the internal insulation 27 and a retention spring 35.
The operation is as follows:
By pushing your finger on the cap 13-14 (fig.
5) is caused the sliding of the assembly consisting of the sleeve 9 and the cylindrical part 17 as well as the pin 18, and the spring 15 is compressed. The end of this assembly is thus brought outside the crimping die and the window 19 becomes visible.
The external male contact 26-27 with the retention spring 35 is then introduced into the sleeve 9 and abuts against the front face 171 of the cylindrical part 17 (FIG. 6). The position of the contact 26-27 is therefore well defined and can be checked by the inspection window 19.
The internal female contact 25 which has been placed in electrical connection with the cable 20 is introduced into the external contact 25-27 until it abuts against the end 181 of the pin 18 (FIG. 7); this contact 25 has a very precise position and, moreover, is perfectly centered on the axis of the external contact 20.
The ferrule 24 is placed on the braid 22, as shown in FIG. 7.
When these operations are completed, the operator releases the pressure on the part 14 and, by the action of the spring 15, the sliding assembly is brought into the position of FIG. 8 where the stop 10 comes into contact with the sleeve 5.
The clamp is maneuvered so as to crimp the ferrule 24 on the coaxial cables and to maintain the external male and internal female contacts in their relative positions.
Figs. 9 to 15 relate to the positioning and crimping of external female contacts (fig. 10) and internal male contacts (fig. 11) which are intended to cooperate with the female contacts of fig. 3 and males of FIG. 4 and which are intended for the coaxial cables of FIG. 2.
In this case, the positioning device of FIGS.
1 to 8 is replaced by that of fig. 9 to 15, which also comprises a guide sleeve 5 with base 6, sleeve 91, cylindrical part 17, spring 15, plug 12 with head 13 and peripheral rim 14.
The sleeve 91 comprises a slot 19t which is located in front of the circular stop 161 towards the clamp, while the cylindrical part 17 ends on the side of the clamp by a cylindrical end 28 provided with a cavity 29.
The external female contact in fig. 10 comprises a ferrule 30 with, inside, an insulating part 31 provided with a bore 32 and a retention spring 36.
The internal female contact 33 is in electrical connection with the internal cable 20 covered with the insulation 21 on which the braid 22 is located which constitutes the external cable arranged coaxially with respect to the cable 20 and in turn provided with an insulation 23 around it. of which is the ferrule 24.
The operation is as follows:
By pushing the finger on the stopper 13-14, the assembly consisting of the sleeve 91, of the cylindrical part 17 and of the cylindrical end 28 is caused to slide and the spring 15 is compressed. The end of this assembly is thus brought outside the die and the window 191 becomes visible.
The external female contact 30 is then placed on the end 28 (FIG. 13) and abuts against a narrowed part 34 of the cylindrical part 17. The position of the contact 30 is well defined and can be controlled by the window 191.
The internal male contact 33 which has been placed in electrical connection with the cable is introduced into the external contact 30-31 until it abuts in the bottom of the cavity 29; the contact 33 has a very precise position relative to the external contact 30 and, moreover, is perfectly centered on the axis of the latter.
The ferrule 24 is placed on the braid 22 (fig. 14).
When these operations are completed, the operator releases the pressure on the part 14 and, by the action of the spring 15, the sliding assembly is returned to the position of FIG. 15 where the stop 10 comes into contact with the sleeve 5.
The clamp is maneuvered so as to crimp the ferrule 24 on the coaxial cables and to maintain the external female and internal male contacts in their relative positions.
