La raclette postérieure 18, qui est bloquée en position inclinée vers l'arrière comme représenté à la fig. 4, éga lise et tasse alors les fragments de neige rabotés sur une largeur correspondant à l'écartement des longerons 2. La lame égalisatrice 22 peut également être réglée en hauteur et en inclinaison, selon la qualité de la neige et selon l'épaisseur de la couche rabotée.
On note que la lame antérieure de coupe 19 travaille de champ et rabote en soulevant les aspérités tandis que la lame postérieure 22 d'égalisation arase les paquets de neige en les tassant régulièrement. Les deux lames 19 et 22 sont disposées approximativement de part et d'au tre du tiers central de la longueur des patins. ce qui confère une bonne stabilité à la raboteuse.
