Description

Honeycomb packing for packaging cylindrical, spherical or ovoid objects
The present invention relates to a honeycomb packing for the packaging of cylindrical, spherical or ovoid objects, for example bottles, jars, eggs, pharmaceutical ampoules, etc.

Numerous fillings are known which have alveoli or cells for the packaging of practically spherical or ovoid objects, such as fruits or eggs.

For fruits, the packaging is generally in the form of trays in which are provided recesses constituting the cells. Due to the fact that the cells have a well-determined size, such packaging only fulfills the role assigned to them with calibrated fruits. In addition, the fruits are not sufficiently protected towards the top.

For eggs, paper pulp packaging is known made of two parts having depressions and retained between them in a separable manner by projections in the form of hooks formed on one of said parts and cooperating with recesses provided in the other part. In these packages, the eggs, which are more or less of different sizes, are not held in an elastic manner and, therefore, are not immune to shocks and jolts.

For pharmaceutical bottles and ampoules, it is common practice to use partitions made from sheets of cardboard, for example corrugated cardboard, in which slits have been made and which are nested so that they form cavities of square or rectangular section. in which we put bottles or ampoules. The assembly of said plates serving as spacers and their fitting are tedious.

The object of the present invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks and the honeycomb lining which is the subject thereof is characterized by the fact that it comprises at least one plate pierced with at least one row of holes, the scalloped edges of which carry sleeves. frustoconical constituting open cells of large and small diameter, said cuffs having, in the axial direction, V-shaped folds whose points, directed inward, determine the internal diameter of the cells and are intended to bear elastically against objects housed in the cells to retain them.

The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the lining which is the subject of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a gasket comprising six frustoconical cells.

Fig. 2 is a section through one of the tapered cells.

Fig. 3 is a plan view of the cell visible in FIG. 2.

Fig. 4 shows a jar or a bottle threaded into one of the cells of the filling.

Fig. 5 is a plan view of FIG. 4.

Figs. 6 and 7 show how to package eggs or pharmaceutical ampoules between two packings such as that of FIG. 1.

The honeycomb seal shown in Figs. 1 to 3 comprises a plate 1 pierced with holes 2, the indented edges of which carry frustoconical sleeves 3 produced with the plate 1 and open in 4. The sleeves 3 have, in the axial direction, V-shaped folds 5 whose points 6, directed inwards, determine the internal diameter of the cells.

If, as shown in fig. 4 and 5, a cylindrical object 7, for example a jar or a bottle, is threaded into the frustoconical sleeve 3, the folds 5 move apart, in particular those located near the hole 4, in order to grip the object elastically, while giving it a good footing and excellent protection against shocks. Such linings can be pre-fitted as spacers in packing cartons.

It is possible to use two plates 1 superimposed so that the edges of the holes 2 are aligned or as shown in FIG. 6, making plates 1 interconnected by a hinge fold 8 and arranged so that the holes 2 are aligned when the plates are folded over one another. Such fillings can be used for packaging eggs 9 (Fig. 6) or pharmaceutical ampoules 10 (Fig. 7).

The objects 9, 10 can be taken out of the cells by a simple push of the finger, without having to open the packaging, with the risk of dropping and breaking the objects placed in the other cells.

For the toppings shown in fig. 6 and 7, it is possible to provide, on the edges 11 opposite to the hinge 8, retaining means, for example tabs engaging in slots or hooks cooperating with recesses. The plates can also be closed by welding or gluing.

Preferably, the lining is obtained by a process of hot molding under vacuum or under pressure of a synthetic material, for example polystyrene or polyvinyl chloride, the walls closing the holes 4 being cut out after the molding.

The honeycomb packing described has the following advantages: it is very light; objects resiliently retained in the cells can be taken out without difficulty; empty, the linings can be stacked on top of each other without loss of space.
