Description

Process for the production of tobacco foils The main patent relates to a process for the Her position of tobacco foils, which is characterized in that tobacco material is treated in a weakly acidic to weakly alkaline medium in order to achieve self-adhesive properties, the resulting pasty mass then in the absence of non-tobacco adhesive additives leads to a band-shaped base and largely dries on this base and detaches the film-like dry material from the base.

According to the main patent, the tobacco material used is preferably crushed tobacco material, such as. B. tobacco leaves, tobacco leaf fragments, cut tobacco waste, fermentation waste, ribs, tobacco dust, etc. So you have the opportunity to produce films of any length and width from small, even the smallest pieces of tobacco.

It has now been shown that the pectins are also regenerated in a medium which contains at least one ammonium salt of an organic or inorganic acid or a mixture of stoichiometric amounts of the corresponding acid and base.

Example 1 Foil made from cigarette tobacco or waste from cigarette manufacture including ribs.

1.0 kg of finely ground tobacco is suspended in 4 parts of water and heated to about 75-80 ° C. for 15-30 minutes. After cooling who the 20% (calculated on tobacco weight) of a mixture of stoichiometric amounts of formic acid techn. and Am moniak techn. added with thorough stirring. After a short time, a mushy, viscous mass is formed. After adding 5-10% plasticizer (calculated on tobacco weight), such as. B. glycerin, diethylene glycol, etc., worn in the desired layer thickness on a VA steel strip. The pH of the suspension depends on the tobacco used. For cigarette tobacco it is between 5.0 and 7.0.

Drying is done using conventional methods such as IR radiation, warm or hot air or by heating the tape directly, and removal using the customary method of scraping.

Example 2 1.0 kg of finely ground tobacco is slurried with 4 kg of water containing stoichiometric amounts of formic acid and ammonia corresponding to a 5% ammonium formate solution. The mixture is heated to 75 to 85 ° C. for 15-30 minutes while stirring. After cooling and after adding 5% plasticizer, the paste is applied to a V4A steel belt in the desired thickness.

If higher demands are made on the tensile strength or elasticity when using cigarette waste, ribs or other tobacco, the procedure according to example 1 and 2 can be that after the pectin has been split and before it is applied to the steel band, small amounts (1- 5% calculated on tobacco weight) of binders such as carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and its derivatives.

The water solubility of the tobacco film can also be reduced in this way in a noticeable manner. Example 3 To achieve better tensile strength and elasticity, after the pectins have split, an addition of 1-3% Ca or Mg salts, e.g. B. lactates, citrates, etc., or a combination of these Sal zen with small amounts of CMC.

Instead of these salts, mixtures of alkalis and acids can also be used in stoichiometric proportions.
