Process for the production of new pyridylphosphorus compounds and the use thereof The present invention relates to a process for the production of new pyridylphosphorus compounds and the use of the same as pesticides.
The pyridyl phosphorus compounds obtainable according to the invention correspond to the formula
EMI0001.0004
In this formula and the following formulas, R is a halopyridyl radical, Z is an oxygen or a sulfur atom and each of the radicals R 'is an amino group or a mono- or dialkylamino group, the alkyl radicals of which contain 1 to 8 carbon atoms and can be identical or different .
These compounds are solid or viscous liquid materials that are generally somewhat soluble in many common organic solvents and very sparingly soluble in water. It has been found that these compounds are valuable as pest control agents and are particularly suitable for use as active toxics in agents for controlling a number of mites, insects and bacterial and fungus organisms such as beetles, ticks, worms, aphids, Flies, cockroaches, cow flies, Cochliomyia americana and Chrysomya americana, snails, ascarids, nematodes,
Round worms, Rhizoctonia solani and dirty water fish.
According to the invention, the new compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula:
EMI0001.0017
with ammonia or a corresponding mono- or dialkylamine. Good results can be obtained when practically equimolar proportions of the reagents are used. Good results can also be achieved when working at a temperature of -10 to 60 C.
The halopyridyl phosphoric acid dichloride or thiophosphoric acid dichloride of the formula:
EMI0001.0019
can be prepared by reacting a salt of a corresponding halopyridinol with phosphorus oxychloride or phosphorothiochloride. The reaction is preferably carried out at a temperature in the range from -5 ° to 80 ° C. to form the desired product and halide of the reaction.
The compounds obtainable according to the invention are valuable as pest-repelling agents and as pesticides for various purposes in the household, in industry and in agriculture. For example, they are useful for combating various aquatic pests, such as trash fish and Entomostraca. They are also valuable for animal husbandry as a means of combating pests that can attack warm-blooded animals, including helminths, roundworms and other parasitic organisms. They can also be used to control domestic and industrial pests, including house flies, cockroaches and Tribolium confusum.
It has also been found that the new halopyridyl compounds are extremely effective for combating many parasitic organisms, especially those found on roots or on the airborne parts of growing plants, including aphids, mites, plant pathogens and insects . At low concentrations, these compounds are extremely effective against biting and sucking species of insects, such as, for example, Prodenia cridania, Aonidiella aurantii and Epilachna varivestis.
They are also extremely valuable for impregnating soil in nematocidal concentrations to control nematodes such as the tuberous nematodes.
The new compounds can also be incorporated into paints, adhesives, soaps, high-quality fuels, polymeric materials, cutting oils, or oil or latex paints, in order to prevent attack by various pests and the destruction of such products that result from attack by bacteria - and fungus organisms. For example, the compounds obtainable in accordance with the invention can be distributed in cellulosic materials or in grain, or they can be used for impregnating wood to protect and protect such products from attack by rot, mold and rotting organisms. Furthermore, they can be applied to seeds in order to protect the seeds from infestation by pests.
The present invention further relates to agents which consist of one or more of the halopyridyl phosphates or contain one or more of these as an active ingredient together with a carrier. These agents are generally very valuable for combating the undesired pests mentioned above.
The present invention also relates to a method for combating pests, such as insects or parasites, for example, in which an amount of one or more of the new compounds obtainable according to the invention which is effective against pests is applied to these, their whereabouts and / or their feed. The method according to the invention comprises the use of a liquid or powdered preparation which contains the toxicum.
In preparing the agent containing the toxicum, the halopyridyl compound can be modified with one or more of a wide variety of adjuvants, including aromatic solvents, petroleum distillates, aqueous liquid carriers, surface-active dispersants and finely divided inert solids. Depending on the concentration of the active product in the agent, such agents with additives can be suitable for use on pests, their whereabouts or their feed, or serve as concentrates and then diluted with other inert carriers to make the final treatment agent form. In agents which are to be used as concentrates, the toxicum can be present in a concentration of about 5 to 98% by weight.
The exact concentration of the halopyridyl compound used in an agent can vary, provided that an effective amount of toxicum is supplied either to the organism or its environment or to its diet. This dose of Toxicum mainly depends on the sensitivity of a particular organism to the halogen pyridyl compound. In general, good results can be obtained with liquid compositions containing the toxicant in an amount of 0.5 to 2000 parts by weight or more per million. Sometimes agents which contain up to 90% by weight of toxicum can be used to advantage.
In the case of dusts, good results can be achieved with preparations that contain 0.1 to 5% by weight or more of Toxicum.
In protecting and preserving adhesives, detergents, cutting oils, paints, polymeric materials, paper and other similar products, good results can be achieved if the compounds in such products are in an amount of at least 0.01% by weight and preferably Be introduced in an amount of 0.1 to 2.0 wt.%. Excellent results can be achieved in the preservation of wood if the joints are made by conventional treatment of wood in an amount of at least 0.8 kg / m3 wood.
In the manufacture of dusts, the halopyridyl compound can be prepared with any finely divided solid such as pyrophyllite, diatomaceous earth, or gypsum. In such procedures, the finely divided carrier can be ground or mixed with the toxicum or moistened with a solution of the toxicum in a volatile organic solvent. Similarly, dusts containing the halopyridyl compound can be prepared with various solid surface-active dispersants such as fuller's earth, attapulgite or other clays.
Depending on the proportions of the constituents, these dusts can be used as concentrates and then diluted with additional solid, surface-active dispersants or with pyrophyllite, diatomaceous earth, gypsum or the like in order to obtain the desired amount of active substance in a preparation that is suitable for use Control of pests is suitable. Such concentrated dusts can also be dispersed in water with or without the aid of dispersants to form spray mixtures.
Furthermore, the halopyridyl compound or a dust concentrate containing such a compound can be intimately mixed with surface-active dispersants, such as ionic and nonionic emulsifiers, to form spray concentrates. Such concentrates are readily dispersed in liquid carriers to form sprays containing the toxicant in any desired amount.
Similarly, the halopyridyl compound can be formulated with a suitable, water-immiscible, organic liquid and surface-active dispersant to form emulsifiable, liquid concentrates that can be mixed with water or oil to form spray mixtures in the form of oil-in - Water emulsions can be diluted. In such compositions the carrier contains an aqueous emulsion, i. H. a mixture of water-immiscible solvent, emulsifier and water.
Dispersants preferred for use in these preparations are oil-soluble, and they include non-ionic emulsifiers such as organic acids, polyoxyethylene derivatives of sorbitan esters or complex ether alcohols. However, oil-soluble ionic emulsifiers, such as mahogany soaps, can also be used.
Organic liquids suitable for use in the compositions include petroleum and petroleum distillates, toluene, liquid halogenated hydrocarbons, and synthetic organic oils.
When working according to the inventive method, the halopyridyl compound or an agent containing the toxicum is applied to the pests to be controlled or to their abode including the soil or to their feed in any suitable manner, for example with the aid of hand atomizers or spraying or by simple mixing with the feed that is ingested by the organism. The application to the foliage or the leaves of plants can expediently be carried out by means of powerful atomizers, high-range sprays and spray atomizers. In such applications on the foliage, the agents used should not contain any appreciable amounts of phytotoxic materials.
When working on a large scale, dusts or low volume sprays can be applied from an airplane.
The following examples illustrate the invention without restricting it. <I> Example 1 </I> O-3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl-N, N-dimethylthiophosphoric acid diamide 9.9 g (0.05 mol) 3,5,6-trichloro-2- pyridinol, 50% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (corresponding to 0.05 mol) and 200 ml of isobutyl methyl ketone were mixed together and heated to boiling temperature to distill off a mixture of about 100 ml of reaction medium and water of reaction in the amount of its formation. The remaining mixture was cooled to about 3 ° C. and 8.5 g (0.05 mol) of phosphorothiochloride were added rapidly with stirring.
The mixture was stirred for a further 1.5 hours, the temperature being allowed to rise to about 8 ° C. in order to obtain the intermediate product O-3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl-thiophosphoric acid dichloride. Then methylamine was added to the mixture containing the intermediate. The addition of the methylamine took about 0.33 hours while the temperature of the reaction mixture was maintained at about 20C. The mixture was stirred for a further 1 hour, the temperature of the reaction mixture being allowed to rise to 25.degree. The reaction mixture was then washed with water and the reaction medium was removed by fractional distillation under reduced pressure. O-3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl-N, N'-dimethyl-thiophosphoric acid diamide was obtained as a residue.
This product was recrystallized from petroleum ether (boiling range: 86 to 100 ° C.). It formed a white, crystalline solid substance from F - 86 to 89 C.
The following product was prepared according to the invention in a corresponding manner: 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridyl-N, N-dimethylphosphoric acid diamide F = 146-148 C <I> Example 2 </I> Aqueous preparations were made in separate operations the pyridyl phosphorus compounds prepared according to the invention prepared as follows:
4 parts by weight of a halopyridyl phosphorus compound, 0.08 part of sorbitan trioleate (trade name Span 85) and 0.02 part of a sorbitan monolaurate polyoxyethylene derivative (trade name Tween 80) were dispersed in 40 ml of acetone to form a concentrated agent in the form of a water-dispersible liquid ability to form. This concentrated agent was dispersed in water to obtain aqueous preparations containing varying amounts of the toxic agent.
Furthermore, the halopyridyl phosphorus compounds were processed in water with an alkylarylsulfonate (trade name Nacconol NR) and a substituted benzoidene alkylsulfonic acid (trade name Daxad No. 27) to form aqueous agents. In these operations, the materials were mixed together in a ball mill to obtain preparations containing varying amounts of one of the toxic compounds, 300 parts by weight Nacconol NR and 300 parts by weight Daxad No. 27.
The preparations were applied separately to fruits which were infected with a number of adults of Conotrachelus nenuphar. After 6 days, observations showed that in the case of each test preparation, complete control of the adults of Conotrachelus nenuphar had been achieved by treatment with the compound.
