Description

Vending machine, ticket machine or money changing machine Up to now, devices are known as vending machines, ticket machines and money changing machines which issue goods, tickets or change after inserting a coin. Such machines contain Münzprüfer, which control the dimensions and weight of the thrown coins, possibly check the presence of a beaded edge or measure magnetic properties. The disadvantage of all these devices is that they are only set up to accept coins, so that their use is very limited, since the largest coin in Switzerland, for example, is the 5-franc piece.

The goods, ticket or money changing machine according to the present invention does not have this disadvantage, since it is provided with an input device for bank notes and contains a control device to identify the metal thread inserted in the notes, so that here too a metal test can be performed.

The input device can be designed in any way, for example as a bracket that grips the note at the edge, or as a flap into which the note must be placed, or as a sliding plate on which the note can be placed.

Any known electromagnetic or electrodynamic wire testing or monitoring system is suitable as a means of identification for the metal thread. In addition, an X-ray testing device can be used which is equipped with two photocells, for example, to check the presence of two specific diffraction lines.

Such a machine can then be used to check Swiss banknotes at CHF 50, 100, 500 and 1,000. If grades for CHF 10.- and 20.- are to be made testable, they would of course also have to be provided with a metal thread insert.

There is furthermore the possibility of providing the metal thread with a magnetic font during the production of the notes or even afterwards, and the testing device can be equipped with a reading device known per se for such notes. If it is feared that the checking of these criteria still provides insufficient security, the machine can also be provided with a second control device which compares at least one detail of the banknote image with a reference detail stored in the machine.

Since such comparison devices are known per se for checking signatures for checks, it does not seem useful to describe them in detail here.
