EMI1.56
oder die Gruppe
EMI1.57
B. Morpholin, Piperazin, 4-Me!thylpiperazin, Piperidin.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Process for the production of new waxy trisamino-s-triazine compounds The present invention relates to a process for the production of new waxy trisamino-s-triazine derivatives. These compounds can be used to protect and refine surfaces of all kinds, such as B. for the treatment of surfaces made of inorganic materials, such as metal, stone, stoneware, etc., and of organic materials, e.g. B. made of wood, leather, plastics such as linoleum, etc., and paper.
It has now been found that trisamino-s-triazines with three tertiary amino groups, at least one of which has a lipophilic radical and at least one component of an optionally substituted hydrogenated heterocycle or a bis-amino-s triazinyl radical and a lower alkyl radical is substituted,
have waxy properties and are therefore valuable as components of surface finishing agents.
The optionally substituted, hydrogenated heterocycle is preferably a mono- or dibasic 6-membered radical which can be substituted by a lower alkyl radical or a bisamino-s-triazinyl radical.
Hydrocarbon radicals, in particular aliphatic radicals with 10 to 18 carbon atoms, are suitable as lipophilic radicals.
The tris-amino-s-triazines of the general formula I are of particular importance for use in surface finishing agents:
EMI1.41
in which R1 and R3 each have a lower alkyl radical with up to 5 carbon atoms, R2 and R.4 each have an alkyl radical with 10-18 carbon atoms or R3 and R.4 together with the adjacent nitrogen atom form a 5- or 6-membered, optionally ring-substituted hydrogenated heterocyclic ring mean,
and A the groups
EMI1.56
or the group
EMI1.57
in which R1, Re, R3 and R4 have the meanings given in the preceding text and X denotes an alkyl imino radical.
In formula I, R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen atom denote a hydrogenated heterocycle, preferably a 6-membered heterocycle, such as. B. morpholine, piperazine, 4-methylpiperazine, piperidine. An alkyl radical with 1-5 carbon atoms is possible as the alkyl radical which substitutes the alkylimino group represented by X.
The new trisamino-s-triazines with waxy properties are obtained by adding two chlorine atoms in any order in the 2,4,6-trichloro-s-triazine to the radicals of two identical or different secondary aliphatic amines and the third
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Chlorine atom is replaced by the remainder of an amine H-A, in which A has the meanings given above.
On the one hand, the exchange of two chlorine atoms by reacting 2,4,6-trichloro-s-triazine with 2 moles of one or one mole each of two different secondary aliphatic amines with elimination of hydrogen chloride under the conditions customary for such exchange reactions, ie. H.
in the presence of solvents or diluents, in the presence of a proton acceptor, such as an inorganic or organic base. On the other hand, the exchange is carried out by adding the said halogen # n-s-triazine with 2 moles of one or one mole each of two different tertiary aliphatic amines which have at least one substituent with 1-3 carbon atoms,
reacted in the presence of an inert solvent with elimination of chloroalkane. At least one of the secondary and tertiary amines used is one which has an alkyl radical with 10-18 carbon atoms and a lower alkyl radical with 1-4 carbon atoms as substituents.
To replace the third chlorine atom, a 6-membered nitrogen-containing, hydrogenated heterocyclic compound, such as piperidine, methyl piperazine, morpholine, etc., is preferably used. The reaction is optionally carried out in the presence of a solvent or diluent and a proton acceptor.
The solvents customary for this reaction are used as solvents for the exchange of the first and second chlorine atoms in the 2,4,6-trichloro-s-triazine, such as. B. water, mixtures of acetone and water, other mixtures of organic solvents with water, halogenated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. Inorganic bases, such as the carbonates and hydroxides of alkali metals, and organic bases, such as secondary and tertiary amines, are suitable as proton acceptors.
The reaction temperatures for the exchange of the bursting chlorine atom are -20 to +10 C, the second chlorine atom 10 to 100 C and the third chlorine atom 100-200 C.
The trisamino-s-triazines of the formula I have well-defined melting points and waxy properties; they can therefore be used instead of commercially available natural and synthetic waxes or together with them for the treatment and refinement of all types of surfaces.
They have the properties characteristic of natural waxes, such as solubility in fat solvents, miscibility with natural and synthetic waxes and can be processed into finely dispersed emulsions with the addition of suitable emulsifiers in water. The new compounds result in coverings that are resistant to chemicals, especially good alkali-resistance. In their outstanding suitability as waxes they are! practically equivalent to the montanic acid esters.
Surface finishing agents are obtained by mixing a trisamino-s-triazine of the general formula I or more such derivatives with conventional substances suitable for treating surfaces. Such substances are, for example, the following: natural and synthetic waxes, resins, silicones, etc., which improve the physical properties, as well as solvents, and also inorganic and organic fillers, e.g. B.
Silicates, ground plastics, anionic, cationic or nonionic dispersants, cleaning agents, such as. B. natural and synthetic soaps, tension-active substances, pigments, agents to improve the light resistance, stabilizers of all kinds, such as corrosion inhibitors, odorants, dyes, biocidal agents or agents that contain such agents, eg. B. Insecticides, Fungicides, Bactericides, etc.
The surface finishing agents can be present and used in the form of aerosols, solutions, emulsions, semi-solid and solid pastes. The agents can therefore be used to protect and refine (e.g. as gloss waxes) surfaces of all kinds, including the treatment of paper, e.g. B. the production of carbon paper is to be understood.
The following examples describe the preparation of the trisamino-s-triazines.
Unless otherwise stated, parts therein mean parts by weight and temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 185 parts of cyanuric chloride are dissolved in 1000 parts of carbon tetrachloride, and 87.1 parts of morpholine are added with vigorous stirring at 0-5. A solution of 54 parts of sodium carbonate in 300 parts of water is then added.
After stirring for 2 hours, a solution of 290 parts of N-methyl-N-n-ocbadecylamine in 1000 parts of carbon tetrachloride at 10-15 and then a solution of 54 parts of sodium carbonate in 300 parts of water are added dropwise. The reaction mixture is then heated slowly and then refluxed for 5 hours.
After the reaction has ended, the solvent is distilled off. The residue is stirred with 1500 parts of acetone. The undissolved portion is suctioned off, washed thoroughly with water and dried. The reaction is 2-chloro-4-morpholino-6-N-methyl-N-n-octadecylamino-s-triazine, which melts at 52-54 after recrystallization from alcohol.
482 parts of 2-chloro-4-morpholino-6-N-methyl-N-n-octadecylamino-s-triazine and 110 parts of n-methyl piperazine are dissolved in 4000 parts of xylene and 45 parts of powdered sodium hydroxide are added. The reaction mixture is then refluxed under nitrogen with a water separator. After the separation of water has ended, the mixture is refluxed for a further 3 hours.
The reaction mixture is filtered hot, the filtrate is evaporated to dryness in vacuo and the residue is stirred up with 4000 parts of acetone. The solid, undissolved portion is separated off, washed thoroughly with water and dried in vacuo.
This gives 2-N'-methylpiperazino-4-morpholino-6-N'-methyl-N'-n-octadecylamino-s-tri-azine which, after recrystallization from dioxane, melts at 48-51 '. Example 2 37 parts of cyanuric chloride are dissolved in 400 parts of anhydrous toluene and at room temperature with a solution of 120 parts of N,
N-dimethyl-N-n-octadecylamine in 400 parts of anhydrous toluene was added dropwise. The reaction mixture is then refluxed under nitrogen until the calculated amount of chloromethane has been split off. Then the solvent is distilled off in vacuo. The 2-chloro-4,6-bis-N-methyl-N-n-oetadecylamino- # s-triazine has a melting point of 58-62 after recrystallization from acetone.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
34 parts of 2-chloro-4,6-bis-N-methyl-N-n-octadecyl-amino-s-triazine are heated with 10 parts of morpholine under nitrogen at 110-1150 for 5 hours. After cooling, excess morpholine and morpholine chlorohydrate are removed by washing with water and the residue is dried.
The 2-morpholino-4,6-bis-N-methyl-N-noctadecylamino-s-triazine is obtained, which, after recrystallization from ethyl alcohol, melts at 80-82. Example 3 67.8 parts of 2-chloro-4,6-bis-N-methyl-Nn-octadecyl-amino-s-triazine and 68.7 parts of 2-ethylamino-4,6-bis-N-methyl-Nn-octadecylamino -s-triazine was dissolved warm in 400 parts by volume of anhydrous pyridine with stirring. The reaction mixture is then refluxed for 18 hours under nitrogen.
The reaction mixture is filtered hot, the filtrate is evaporated to dryness in vacuo and the residue is washed thoroughly with water and dried in vacuo. The bis - [4,6 - N - methyl-N-n-octadecylamino-s-triazin- (6) -yl:] - ethylamine, which, after recrystallization from acetone, melts at 55-57.
