EMI0002.0010
Frequency gate, designed as a high, low or band pass The invention is based on the object of creating a frequency gate which is permeable when the frequency of the input signal is within a certain value. The frequency gate is designed as a high, low or band pass and should have a characteristic with extremely steep edges and very good stability. The limit frequency of the frequency gate should be freely selectable.
The invention thus relates to a frequency gate, designed as a high, low or band pass, and is characterized in that a first input of a logic circuit is connected directly and at least one further input of the logic circuit is connected to the input of the frequency gate via a timing circuit that is permeable if the period of the variable fed to the input of the frequency gate is within a value determined by the timer.
According to the invention, an advantageous use of a frequency gate is that it serves as a start-up lock in an electronic energy meter.
Some exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. The figures show: FIG. 1 a circuit diagram of a frequency gate and FIG. 2 a diagram.
In Fig. 1, a frequency gate is shown in the manner of a high pass, which consists of a timing circuit 1 and a logic circuit 2, which is an AND gate here.
The timing circuit 1 has a monostable multivibrator 3, the input of which forms the input 4 of the frequency gate and the output 5 of which is led to the base of a transistor 6. The collector-emitter path of the transistor 6 is a capacitor 7, which is charged with a constant current Io from a current source 8, and the input 9 of a threshold switch 10 is connected in parallel. A first input 11 of the logic circuit 2 is connected to the input 4 of the frequency gate, and a further input 12 is connected to an output terminal 13 of the threshold switch 10, which at the same time forms the output of the timing circuit 1.
The constant current source 8 has a transistor 14, the emitter of which is connected to a supply terminal 17 via the series connection of a resistor 15 and a potentiometer 16, which is used to adjust the collector current IC. The collector of the Tran sistor 14 is connected via the capacitor 7 to a feed terminal 18. The base of the transistor 14 is connected to a voltage divider 19 connected to the supply terminals 17 and 18.
The emitter of a first transistor 20 of the Schwel lenschalters 10 is connected via a Zener diode 21 to the supply terminal 18, the collector via a resistor 22 to the supply terminal 17 and via a Zener diode 23 to the base of a second transistor 24. A constant current flows through a resistor 25 connected to the emitter of the transistor 20 and to the supply terminal 17, so that the Zener diode 21 is located in the breakdown region.
The emitter of the transistor 24 is connected to the supply terminal 18, the collector of the same via a resistor 26 to the supply terminal 17 and via an inverter circuit 27, which is used for phase inversion, to the output terminal 13.
The voltages U, to U5 shown by arrows in FIG. 1 are shown in FIG. 2 as a function of time. The frequency
EMI0001.0039
the pulse-shaped voltage U1 at the input of the frequency gate is variable over time. With each negative edge 28 of the input pulses 29, the monostable multi vibrator 3 is triggered and generates a pulse 30 of constant duration T3. The transistor 6 short-circuits the capacitor 7 with each pulse 30 so that it is briefly discharged.
The capacitor 7 is then recharged with the constant current IC from the power source 8 and the voltage U3 across the capacitor 7 increases linearly.
When the voltage U3 is low, the transistor 20 is blocked, the operating point of the Zener diode 23 is in the breakdown region and the transistor 24 is conductive. When the voltage U3 reaches the threshold value US of the threshold switch 10, it switches over and the voltage U3, since it is limited by the Zener diode 21, can no longer rise. After the next input pulse, the capacitor 7 is discharged again and the threshold switch 10 switches back to the original state.
The comparison time To, calculated from the beginning of the capacitor discharge until the threshold value US is reached, is approximated by the expression To = T3 -I-
EMI0002.0010
given, where C is the capacity of the capacitor 7.
If, after a capacitor discharge, the next input pulse does not arrive until the voltage U3 has reached the value US and the threshold switch 10 has responded, this pulse cannot pass through the logic circuit 2. If, however, the period T of the input pulses 28 is less than the comparison time To, the logic circuit 2 is permeable to the input pulses because the capacitor 7 is discharged again before the threshold switch 10 can respond.
The input pulses are allowed to pass through shortened if the threshold switch 10 responds during the pulse duration T1. This shortening of the pulses does not generally interfere because most of the time it is only decisive whether a pulse occurs at the output of logic circuit 2 or not. Especially with a large ratio
EMI0002.0018
the impulse shortening does not have a disadvantageous effect. In special applications, it is possible, using known measures, to follow the logic circuit 2 with a circuit arrangement which is only permeable for pulses of a predetermined duration.
The frequency gate described lets through input pulses whose frequency f is greater than a specified limit frequency f .. With a large ratio
EMI0002.0023
the relationship applies to the cutoff frequency f "
EMI0002.0025
By appropriate selection of the capacitance of the capacitor 7, the cutoff frequency f. can be set arbitrarily. The characteristic curve of the frequency gate has an extremely steep edge and very good stability because the cutoff frequency f depends only on elements whose parameters are naturally stable.
A frequency gate in the manner of a low-pass filter can be implemented if the inverter circuit 27 is omitted in the circuit arrangement according to FIG. 1. Such a frequency gate is permeable to input pulses whose frequency f is less than the cutoff frequency f 4 of the frequency gate is connected,
one timing circuit being designed as a high pass and the other as a low pass.
The frequency gate described can be used excellently as a start-up lock in an electronic energy meter which has no mechanically moving parts.
