EMI1.1

EMI1.2
jedes der Radikale Rí bis R4 Halogen, CN, R5, ;
Leder, Cellulosederivate, Polyester, Polyamide, Poly acrylnitril, Polyolefine, Polyvinylchlorid, Polyvinylester,
Polyvinylalkohol, Polystyrol.

Beispiel I

The compounds obtained are colorless to slightly yellowish and show strong UV absorption in the wavelength range from about 290 to 400 m. They are thermally and chemically very stable and are not destroyed by exposure to light.
The compounds described are incorporated into the organic substances to be protected in amounts of 0.005 to 5%, preferably 0.05 to 2%. These can be the substances to be protected either before or after deformation, e.g. B. to films, are added. Depending on the situation, they are then evenly distributed in the mass or more on the surface of the structures made from them. Incorporation into the mass before shaping can be carried out easily if the compounds are used in finely divided form, optionally together with a plasticizer or dissolved in a suitable solvent.
Application to deformed objects, e.g. B. films, is conveniently done by dipping or spraying the same in or with solutions or dispersions of the compounds mentioned. The fabrics treated in this way are very lightfast, which, depending on the type of substrate, manifests itself in a lower tendency to discolour, to crack and / or to reduce the mechanical properties. In the case of colored macromolecular structures treated according to the invention, an improvement in the lightfastness of the coloration can also be observed in many cases. Transparent foils and plates which are produced by the process according to the invention can also serve as filters for UV rays.
In the following examples, the formulas or names of the compounds are only ever given in one of the possible tautomeric forms; the parts and percentages are parts by weight and percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example I.
0.1 part 1 2-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-2, 3 -diazafluoranthene are mixed in a suitable mixer (Geli mat) * with 100 parts of polystyrene and then added at 1800 with a press under 30 tons of pressure about 1 mm thick plates pressed. The clear plates absorb UV light from 290 to 370 m, u very strongly and after 160 hours of exposure in the Xenotest exposure device, the UV absorption has only decreased by about 5%. Similar results are obtained when using 5,12-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy-2,3-diazafluoranthene or 12-n-hexyl-4-hydroxy-2,3-diazafluoranthene.
The substance used here can be made in the following ways:
28 parts of 7-tert-butylfluorenone-9-carboxylic acid-1 are refluxed for 6 hours with 60 parts of methanol and 15 parts of hydrazine hydrate. It is filtered, the filter residue is washed with water, dried and recrystallized from dioxane. - 1 2-tert-butyl-4-hy- * Gelimat = laboratory gelimat from Drais GmbH, Mannheim-Waldhof (Federal Republic of Germany) Droxy-2,3-diazafluoranthene falls in the form of pale yellowish crystals with a melting point of 275 to 2780. - If you take the corresponding 2,7-di-tert-butyl compound, respectively, instead of 7-tert-butylfluorenone-9-carboxylic acid.
the 7-n-hexyl or 7-n-octyl compound, the corresponding alkylated hydroxydiazafluoranthenes are obtained, which have a similar action as the 12-tert-butyl-4-hydroxy 2,3-diazafiuoranthene.
Example 2

EMI3.1
mixed in the Gelimat at 1500 for 1 minute, then pressed into plates 1 mm thick. The plates obtained are lightfast and also show good heat resistance. The absorption maximum of the compound used is 320 to 330 m. It is obtained by reacting trimellitic anhydride with hydrazine, followed by esterification with n-butanol. Accordingly, other esters, such as hexyl, acetyl, decyl, etc. esters, are also obtained, which can be used in the same way as UV absorbers.
Example 3
Polypropylene is used along with 0.25% of the compound
EMI3.2
(made from pyromellitic dianhydride and hydrazine) mixed for 1 minute at 1500 in the Gelimat and then pressed at 1500 under 12 tons of pressure to form foils about 0.25 mm thick. The films show strong absorption up to about 370 m, b and after 700 hours of exposure in the xenotest there is practically no decrease in absorption.
In order to impart the same light resistance to a polypropylene plate or a polypropylene injection molding 2 to 3 mm thick, it is sufficient to add 0.05 to 0.1% of the compound (IX).
Example 4
A so-called plastisol, consisting of 70% polyvinyl chloride and 30% dioctyl phthalate, is 0.5% of the compound

added. After suitable deformation in the heat (1800), articles made of soft polyvinyl chloride which are resistant to light are obtained.
The compound of formula (X) can be represented in the following way:
15 parts of phthalic anhydride, 16 parts of m-chlorophenylhydrazine and 75 parts of water are refluxed for 1 hour and, after addition of 50 parts of glacial acetic acid and 10 parts of 36% hydrochloric acid, refluxed for a further 6 hours.
The precipitate is filtered off, washed thoroughly with water and dried in vacuo.
The 2-m-chlorophenyl-phthalazine obtained forms white crystals with a melting point of 160 to 1610.
Correspondingly differently substituted, similarly acting compounds are obtained if, instead of m chlorophenyl hydrazine or p-chlorophenyl hydrazine, 2,4-dichlorophenyl hydrazine, o-methoxyphenyl hydrazine, 2,4-dimethoxyphenyl hydrazine, p-methyl or p-tert. Reacts butylphenylhydrazine with phthalic anhydride or mono- or dichlorophthalic anhydride.
Example 5

A similar result is obtained if the following compounds are used as UV absorbers:
EMI3.5
resp.
EMI3.6
The connection (XI) can be established as follows:
22 parts of pyromellitic dianhydride are refluxed for 1 hour together with 20 parts of methylhydrazine and 100 parts of water and, after addition of 50 parts of glacial acetic acid and 25 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid, refluxed for a further 6 hours. After filtration, washing and drying, 31 parts of a mixture of the compounds are obtained:
EMI4.1
as white, fine crystal powder. The mixture is not soluble in the usual solvents. It dissolves in dilute alkalis and can thus be filtered. Molecular weight from titration = 271 (theory: 274). It dissolves somewhat in dimethylformamide and dimethyl sulfoxide.
Instead of methyl hydrazine, a corresponding amount of n-butyl, n-hexyl, n-octyl, cyclohexyl, benzyl, phenyl or hydroxyethyl hydrazine can be reacted with pyromellitic dianhydride, products which have a similar effect as the compounds above Formula.

EMI4.3
The compound (XIV) can be prepared as follows: 33 parts of benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride are refluxed with 20 parts of hydrazine hydrate and 100 parts of water for 1 hour, then 59 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid are added and the mixture is boiled for a further 5 hours. It is filtered, washed with water and dried in vacuo. 36 parts of a pale yellow substance are obtained which, according to analysis and IR spectrum, correspond to the compound of the formula (XIV).
Example 7
Polypropylene is made with the addition of 1% of the compound
EMI4.4
mixed for one minute in the Gelimat and then blown into sheets about 0.05 mm thick. The transparent films obtained in this way are lightfast.
The compound used is obtained by refluxing 60 parts of 4'-methyl-benzophenone-2-carboxylic acid with 30 parts of methylhydrazine, dissolved in 150 parts of methanol, for 6 hours. It is then filtered, washed with a little methanol and dried in vacuo. White, fine crystals, F. 149-150.
