Différentes autres caractéristiques ressortiront de la description d'un exemple d'exécution qui va suivre, don née à titre d'exemple non limitatif, en se reportant aux figures annexées qui représentent les fié. 1 et 2, le diagramme de fonctionnement géné ral du système, la fig. 3, le plan d'assemblage des fig. 1 et 2 ; la fig. 4, le schéma simplifié du traducteur permet tant de déterminer certaines catégories spéciales d'abon nés ; la fig. 5, le diagramme des temps prévus pour l'ex ploration des mémoires de joncteurs ;
A titre d'exemple,
En MTl et MT2, on a représenté les mémoires de transfert qui permettent l'échange d'informations entre joncteurs, enregistreurs et marqueurs. Dans la demande de brevet principal, certaines fonctions de mémoire de transfert étaient confiées au registre de commande ;
<I>Sélection de l'abonné demandé.</I> - Lorsque l'abonné appelant numérote l'indicatif de son correspondant, le contact drl bat. Par tous moyens appropriés, on pro voque le décollage du relais c afin de mettre fin à l'envoi du signal de manoeuvre. L'état du contact drl est testé par l'enregistreur à chaque tour de l'explorateur EXE. La durée d'une impulsion de numérotation est d'environ 66 millisecondes, alors que celle d'un cycle de l'explo rateur EXE n'est que de 8 millisecondes ;
Par des moyens non figurés, on substitue l'équipement NE à l'équipement NA, de telle sorte que, lors de l'exploration des différentes ran gées, on lise les tores tol, et non les tores to2. Lorsqu'il y a identité entre les codes reçus par le comparateur CP sur les liaisons 17' et 28, le comparateur débloque la porte<B> </B>et<B> </B> (liaison 29), l'indication de catégorie trou vée en regard du numéro d'équipement étant alors trans mise à la case de droite de la mémoire MT3. Cette deu xième méthode est plus longue que la première, en ce sens que l'on ne connaît pns le millier de l'abonné et qu'il faut explorer systématiquement toutes les rangées ;
Installation for selecting electrical circuits or equipment The present invention relates to an installation for selecting electrical circuits or equipment which can be used in particular in automatic telephone exchanges.
In such installations, a local call, that is to say established between two subscribers or equipment directly attached to the same exchange, involves a calling subscriber, a first selection chain, a local trunk or feeder, a second selection string and a called subscriber.
An installation of this type is known in which each of the two selection chains is produced by means of multi-selector with crossed bars. To establish a connection, a centralized marker, constructed by means of electronic devices operating practically instantaneously, begins by marking, at both ends of the selection chain, the various items of equipment likely to be linked.
In the case of the first selection chain, the calling subscriber is marked on one side and all the available feeders on the other; in the case of the second chain, the line or lines of the called subscriber is marked on one side and the feeder in engagement with the calling subscriber on the other. To determine, in each of these two selection chains, a routing route and only one between the two ends thus marked, among all the available routes, a by-path network or K piloting network is used, the configuration of which is identical to that of the switching network.
A signal is sent from equipment marked at one end to circuits marked at the other end through all available channels; in the first selection stage, the track sections are then progressively blocked without hampering the passage of the signal until only one remains. The selection is made in the same way on all floors.
To speed up the operation, the procedure is logarithmically; part of the track sections, half, for example, then part of the remaining sections and so on, are blocked in each floor, arrangements being made so that, if the signal is no longer received at the au At the end of the control network, the previously blocked sections are put back into service. The identity of the chosen sections is then communicated to the switching network, so as to obtain the simultaneous installation of the selectors of all the floors.
Particular arrangements, which bring into play the properties of the transistors, make it possible to obtain the rapid excitation of the selection and actuation electrodes without resorting to exaggerated currents. The operating electros are then maintained by simple remanence, which makes it possible to achieve significant savings in current consumption.
To free the switching devices, it is necessary to send them a demagnetization current and therefore to know their identity; in the first version of the installation, the identification operation is carried out by sending a pulse which propagates through the entire selection chain, on the third wire, identifiers of a known type being connected at different points of this thread.
The local trunk or feeder, inserted between the two selection chains, has the essential functions of sending tones, supplying subscriber stations and keeping the two chains engaged. Of a simplified type, it comprises only the line wires, the supply relays and the relays which emit the various tones as well as the inrush current; the other functions usually performed by the feeder are distributed in common equipment made by means of electronic elements.
A certain number of memories, constituted by ferrite toroids, are assigned to each feeder; a logic circuit common to a group of feeders takes cognizance, at each stage of operation, of the information given by these memories as well as by the contacts of the various relays; it draws all the necessary conclusions from it, carries out the necessary operations, then updates the memories. The different feeders being explored cyclically, the same logic circuit works successively on behalf of each of them according to the so-called time multiplexing method.
When the logic circuit, after reading the memories of a feeder, must send an order to a relay of this feeder, it obviously cannot wait until this order has been recorded; it only has a few tens of microseconds to accomplish its mission, whereas a typical telephone relay requires ten to twenty milliseconds to be excited.
There is therefore provided, between the logic circuit and the relays of the power supply, an intermediate unit or control register, which receives the orders from the logic circuit and keeps them in memory until they are recorded on the. feeder relay. As this control register is common to a group of feeders, this method involves a wait, because there may be total occupation of the control registers when the logic circuit has an order to transmit.
However, in the case of feeders, the orders most often consist in sending tones or similar operations; the delay, which does not exceed a fraction of a second, is harmless.
A recorder is temporarily associated with the feeder to receive the subscriber numbered digits, and to control marking at both ends of the requested side selection chain through suitable translation devices. It essentially comprises a certain number of memories constituted by ferrite cores; as in the case of feeders, a logic circuit, common to a group of recorders, works successively on behalf of each of them according to the time multiplexing method.
The association of a feeder with a recorder is characterized by the inscription of the feeder number on the memories of the recorder. For the exchange of information between a feeder and the associated recorder, the procedure is as follows. When the recorder is explored, it directs the feeder explorer to the associated feeder, which is possible since it knows its number; the recorder and the feeder are explored at the same time and the exchange of signals is possible.
Transfer memories allow the exchange of information between junctors, recorders and markers. Their presence is necessary because, when information is available in the sending organ, it cannot be used until the receiving organ is explored; it must therefore be kept in memory if we do not want to keep the sending organ waiting.
An outgoing communication involves a local calling subscriber, a selection chain and an outgoing circuit trunk. The role of the latter consists of exchanging with the remote office the various signals necessary for routing the call (seizure, invitation to transmit, selective indication, free or busy subscriber, response requested, hang-up requested, release). .
Like the feeder, it is of a simplified type and comprises only the line wires, the requestor's supply relay as well as the relays which emit and receive the signals, both on the subscriber side and on the circuit side. A certain number of memories are assigned to it and all the active functions are fulfilled by a logic circuit.
The latter acts on the outgoing trunk via a control register; however, when waiting is not possible (transmission of calibrated pulses for example), the logic circuit acts directly on the junctor, which requires, in each of them, a device to keep the memory of the order during the time that separates two successive explorations.
An incoming call involves an incoming circuit trunk, a selection chain and a local called subscriber. The remarks made for the outgoing ring are also valid for the incoming ring.
Finally, a transit communication involves an incoming circuit junctor, a first selection chain, a transit junctor, a second selection chain and an outgoing circuit junctor.
The selection chain and marker were the subject of Patent No. 395200. The operation of the feeder and recorder was disclosed in Patent No. 400252.
The present invention aims to improve this type of installation, in particular as regards the determination of the selectors used in a selection chain, the treatment of subscribers of special categories, the simplification of the order register and the transfer of certain items. of its functions in transfer memories.
The installation for selecting electrical circuits or equipment according to the invention is intended to establish connections between a calling line and a called line through a plurality of switching stages interconnected by junctors, each of said stages comprising a number of two-wire transmission paths.
It is characterized by control means operating, according to the signals received from any calling line, the marking of said calling line and of the called line, control means of the switching stages to perform the connection through said said line. two-wire transmission path of the calling line with the called line, means for maintaining in said selection stages to maintain the connection established independently of the connection control means and release means controlling said means for maintaining at through said two-wire transmission path and operating the release of the switching stages when the circuits are released.
Various other characteristics will emerge from the description of an exemplary embodiment which follows, given by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended figures which represent the fies. 1 and 2, the general operating diagram of the system, fig. 3, the assembly plan of FIGS. 1 and 2 ; fig. 4, the simplified diagram of the translator makes it possible to determine certain special categories of subscribers; fig. 5, the diagram of the times provided for the exploration of the junctor memories;
fig. 6, a diagram making it possible to explain how different functions can be concentrated in a transceiver common to several joneteurs.
<I> General arrangement of the equipment. </I> - In the figures, the electronic doors are represented by small circles each containing a number, the number 1 designating the doors or and the number 2 the doors and. The ferrite toroids used as magnetic memories are represented by small oblique lines, the rectangles arranged below these toroids corresponding to the reading and writing equipment.
The explorers are represented by rectangles associated with rotary switches; the rectangle corresponds to the code distributor, that is to say to the set of n bistable circuits or similar devices which make it possible to obtain, from each of these combinations, the setting of an electrical characteristic on a specific thread and only one.
In fig. 1 and 2, assembled as shown in fig. 3, we find the different equipment mentioned in the analysis which appears at the beginning of the preamble of the patent application. In MO, the marker is represented which designates the two ends of a selection chain capable of being linked and searches for an available routing route to connect these ends. The selection chain itself, made up of cross-bar multiselectors, has not been shown for the sake of simplification.
Two translators are associated with the MO marker, the terminal translator or subscriber translator TDA receives the call sign of the caller and determines the position of the called party on the banks of the last selection stage; it provides complete independence between directory numbers and subscriber locations in the exchange. The TDJ routing translator receives, in the event of an outgoing call, the numbered prefix in order to deduce the corresponding circuit group.
The rectangle JT designates on the one hand all the magnetic memories assigned to the different junctors of a group and on the other hand the logic circuit which works successively on behalf of all these junctors. The JTr equipment corresponds to the electro-mechanical part of each joneteur. The drl contact is provided to signal the state of the line of the calling subscriber, it is closed or open depending on whether this line is closed or open.
The del contact performs a similar function for the line of the called subscriber. Relays such as c register and execute the commands which come from the logic circuit of the junctor, via the control register RC. Finally, the relay m is a simple connection relay common to a subset of joneteurs. For exemple,
a group contains 1024 junctors and a sub-assembly 8 junctors. The explorers EXJ and EXJ 'successively designate the junctions which must work in connection with the logic circuit, EXJ explores the toroids of the junctors, thus allowing read and write operations on these tori; EXJ 'explores the drl, del signaling contacts of the subscriber lines.
Explorers EXJ, EXJ 'run synchronously; on each position, they give access to a determined junctor, the various toroids and contacts of this junctor being explored simultaneously.
The explorers EXJ, EXJ 'have a certain number of particularities compared to those of the main patent application. They can receive commands from three different points, namely the DCJ code distributor, the EN recorder and the MO marker.
The DCJ code distributor sends successively, through link 9 and a door or, the codes of the various junctors of the group; it allows the trunk logic circuit to work successively on behalf of all these junctors. Explorers EXJ, EXJ 'can also receive a jerk code from the EN recorder, through link 6 and the door or,
this process being used when the logic recorder circuit has to work on behalf of a given trunk. Finally, the MO marker can also send a code to the operators EXJ, EXJ ', through link 1 and the door or, when it has to work with a specific junctor.
In fig. 5, a time diagram has been shown which makes it possible to obtain this operation. The period T comprises 4 successive time positions t1, t2, t3, t4. Times t1 and t2 are assigned to the trunk logic circuit, said circuit having access to the toroids and relay contacts of the junctors only during these instants. Likewise, the time t3 is assigned to the logic recorder circuit; finally the time t4 is assigned to the marker. Two time positions are reserved for the junction logic circuit and only one for the recorder logic circuit and the marker for traffic reasons.
In this way, there can be no interference between the actions of the trunk logic circuit, the recorder logic circuit and the marker. In practice, the order of magnitude of each of these time positions is around thirty microseconds; this lapse of time is much greater than that required to perform a read or write operation on the toroids of a ring connector, but it takes into account the characteristics of the circuits for exploring the line signaling contacts subscriber, the latter possibly being relatively distant from the logic circuits or from the marker.
The recorder logic circuit has access to the jumpers only at time t3, but nothing prevents it, after performing a read or write operation: from carrying out logic operations at the following times t4 , t1, t2. The same remark is valid for the trunk logic circuit and for the marker. Such a position allows an appreciable saving of time.
The EN rectangle designates on the one hand the memories of the various recorders of a group and on the other hand the logic circuit which works successively on behalf of each of them. These loggers are explored by the EXE explorer; the latter plays the same role, vis-à-vis the recorders, as the explorers EXJ, EXJ 'vis-à-vis the junctors; however, the EXE explorer only receives an order from the DCE code distributor, which successively sends the codes of all the recorders of the group.
As emerges from the foregoing explanations, the central registrars are divided into groups, whereas they formed a single group in the main patent application; a group recorder cannot work with just any trunk, but only with a trunk of the corresponding group.
In MT1 and MT2, the transfer memories which allow the exchange of information between junctors, recorders and markers have been represented. In the main patent application, certain transfer memory functions were assigned to the control register;
in the addition certificate request considered, the control register RC is relieved of these functions and only acts as an intermediary between the logical circuit of the junctor and the electromechanical part JTR of each junctor. All the transfer memory functions are distributed between MT1 and MT2. The purpose of MT3, CP, TDS, EXT, DCT equipment, placed at the top of the diagram,
is to determine certain special categories of subscribers requiring special treatment.
<I> General operation, preselection. </I> - We will now describe the general operation of the system and start by explaining the process of connecting a calling subscriber with an available local trunk or feeder, itself connected to an available recorder. When a subscriber makes a call, the MQ marker is alerted, it marks, on the one hand, said subscriber at one end of the selection chain and, on the other hand, all the local junctors or feeders available. at the other end of the chain.
The marker then proceeds to search for an available routing channel capable of connecting the calling subscriber to one of the feeders, then it simultaneously controls the connection in all the selectors corresponding to this channel. The various operations concerning the search for an available channel and the connection have been described in detail in the patent application mentioned at the beginning of the preamble.
The marker then knows the equipment number of the chosen junctor, that is to say the number of its frame and its location in the frame; it deduces, by translation, the exploration number of this junctor, that is to say its group and its rank on the banks of explorers EXJ, EXJ '. We understand that the relationship between the equipment number of the junctor and its exploration number is not necessarily simple, if we want to obtain good flexibility in the realization and especially in the extension of the office.
At time t4, which corresponds to the accessibility of the marker to the junctors, the marker sends through link 1 and a gate <B> </B> or, a code corresponding to the exploration number of the connected junctor; the explorer EXJ then focuses on this junctor. Through link 2, the MQ marker sends indications to the junctor memories which make it possible to find all the elements used in the selection chain.
Each of these indications can be transmitted, for example, in the form of the well-known code three out of six, which possibly makes it possible to detect errors, a code being considered erroneous if it contains less than three or more than three elements. These different indications will be used at the time of release. In fact, the maneuvering electrons of the various selectors are maintained by simple remanence; to free them, we must send them a demagnetization current and therefore know their identity.
In patent No. 400252, the indications making it possible to find the elements used in the selection chain were not kept in memory. When this information was needed at the time of release, an identification operation was carried out; a pulse was sent from the junctor on the third wire and propagated to the other end of the selection chain. By means of known identification devices, the desired indication was shown in each stage.
By keeping these indications in memory, when they are available in the marker, the volume of the toroid arrays necessary for the production of the junctors is obviously increased, but this is of no importance given that these arrays are compact and inexpensive. On the other hand, one obtains the invaluable advantage of purely and simply eliminating the third wire, one can thus, by keeping the same frames of multiselectors, to increase in a significant way the number of selectors placed in each of them. For example, this number can be increased from 22 to 36.
The electromechanical part being by far the bulkier, it will be understood that this arrangement makes it possible to obtain a significant saving in space or, which amounts to the same thing, an increase in the number of subscribers served for a central of the same size.
The selectors having only two wires, it is therefore no longer possible to obtain the excitation of the subscriber's cut-off relay by means of the third wire. This relay is therefore energized from the marker which has all the necessary information elements, namely the number of the frame of terminal selectors and the rank of the subscriber on the banks of these selectors. Then, the marker is released and the cut-off relay is maintained by simple remanence, like a multi-selector actuator. When the selection chain is released, the marker makes this cut-off relay take off when it sees a demagnetization current in the correct direction.
While transmitting, to the trunk, the indications making it possible to find the elements used in the selection chain, the marker sends to the memory MT1, through link 3, the exploration number of the trunk, the category of the calling line. and the call order of an available recorder. Then it breaks free. In the figure, only one transfer memory MT1 has been shown; but, of course, several are foreseen if the traffic demands it; in this case, circuits of a known type are used which allow a memory to be chosen from among the various memories available.
When a free recorder is explored by EXE, it examines the contents of the memory MT1 through link 5 and finds the call order. The number of the ringing device engaged and the category of the calling subscriber are then transferred from the memory MT1 to the recorder via this same link 5. The recorder is taken and the memory is freed.
When the recorder in gear is explored again by EXE, it sends the trunk code to the explorer EXJ, through link 6 and gate or, which allows it to work on behalf of this trunk; through link 7, it communicates to it the order for sending the switching signal to the calling subscriber.
This order is entered in the appropriate memories of the junctor. Thus, the association of a trunk to a recorder is obtained, as in patent No. 400252, by the entry of the trunk number on the memories of the recorder. To work in conjunction with this junctor, the recorder suffices to transmit the corresponding code on link 6, the two explorers EXJ, EXJ 'then being oriented on the desired junctor.
By means of link 7, the recorder can carry out read or write operations on the junctor toroids; by means of link 8, he can explore the state of the contacts drl, del.
When the DCJ distributor sends the jumper code to the EXJ explorer, the junctor logic circuit reads the order to send the operating signal to the junctor toroids; it retransmits this order, as well as the trunk number, to the RC control register, through link 10.
The control register RC energizes, through wire 11, the connection relay m common to the sub-assembly of junctors; it then energizes, through wire 12, the relay c of the considered junctor provided to receive the order to send the operating signal. The control register RC remains in service for the time necessary for the operation of relay c, then becomes free. This relay is then maintained by all appropriate means and controls the sending of the maneuver signal to the calling subscriber.
<I> Selection of the requested subscriber. </I> - When the calling subscriber dials his correspondent's code, the drl contact beats. By all appropriate means, the take-off of the relay c is caused in order to end the sending of the maneuver signal. The state of the drl contact is tested by the recorder each time the EXE explorer is turned. The duration of a dial pulse is about 66 milliseconds, while that of an EXE explorer cycle is only 8 milliseconds;
we are therefore led to explore the drl contact during several successive cycles of the explorer EXE and to interpret the results in a suitable way. Thus, for example, if a number of consecutive openings is found between 3 and 12, it can be deduced that this is a numbering pulse. 5i this number is less than 3, it is probably an accidental cut of the line; if it is greater than 12, it means that the subscriber has hung up. The interpretation of closures is carried out in a similar fashion. This process has been set forth in detail in Patent No. 400252. The various numbered digits are thus inscribed on the recorder's memories.
We will assume that the requested subscriber is directly attached to the office in question. The recorder, having detected the local nature of the call, seizes an available transfer memory MT2 and transmits to it through link 20, three different pieces of information, namely the number of the trunk, a selection order of the called line and the part of the code allowing selection in the office (generally the numerical part made up of the last four digits).
These various pieces of information can be transmitted in series, that is to say successively; the realization of the logic recorder circuit is thus simplified. As indicated for the transfer memory MT1, several memories MT2 are provided if the traffic so requires.
The memory MT2 retransmits to the marker MQ, through the link 22, the number of the trunk as well as the order of selection of the called line; it retransmits to the subscriber translator TDA, through the link 21, the portion of the code necessary for this selection. Then she breaks free.
The TDA translator communicates to the marker all useful information on the location of the requested subscriber in the office, which makes it possible to mark this subscriber at one of the ends of the selection chain. At the same time, the marker directs the explorer EXJ to the connected trunk, which enables it to read, through link 23, the number of the primary selector associated with the requested side of the trunk. Of course, this assumes that the number of the primary selector on the requested side has been entered in the memories of each trunk.
The marker is then able to perform the desired marking at the other end of the selection chain.
The marker then proceeds to search for an available routing route between the two ends thus marked, then orders the simultaneous connection in all the floors. It communicates to the memory MT1, through link 3, the number of the junctor as well as an end of selection order. At the same time, it directs the EXJ explorer to the relevant trunk (link 1) and transmits to this trunk, through link 2, all the information making it possible to find the various elements used in the selection chain on the requested side.
These indications are kept in memory in the junction key in order to be used at the time of release. Then the marker is released.
When the recorder in gear is explored again, it examines the contents of memory MT1 and finds there the trunk number which it has itself kept in memory since the start of operation; it then reads the end-of-selection order and the memory MT1 becomes free.
During the next exploration by EXE, the recorder directs the explorer EXJ to the considered junctor (wire 6) and sends it the order to send the inrush current to the requested subscriber, then it is released.
When the explorer EXJ receives from the code distributor DCJ the number of the junctor in question, the logic circuit of the junctor reads the order for sending the inrush current recorded in the memories of the junctor; it retransmits this order to the command register RC through link 10. In its turn, the command register retransmits the order on the relay c of the Junction ring provided for this purpose, then becomes free. The inrush current is sent to the requested subscriber by relay c.
When the called subscriber answers, the del contact closes. As soon as the explorer EXJ 'is oriented on the junction considered JTr, under the control of the code distributor <B> DU </B>, the logic circuit of the junctor tests the state of the del contact and performs all operations. useful (release of relay c having recorded the order to send the call current, call charging).
To avoid any untimely actions due to interference, it is possible, for example, to take into account the unhooking of the requested subscriber only when the contact del has been found closed during two or more successive explorations.
Throughout the duration of the communication, the trunk logic circuit examines the state of the drl, del contacts on each exploration, it is therefore notified when this communication ends. He then writes a release order on the junctor memories.
<I> Release.- </I> When the EXJ explorer stops again next to the considered trunk, under the control of the DCJ code distributor, the trunk logic circuit reads the order of release registered on the junctor memories; it then transmits to the memory MT2, through the link 25, the number of the junctor as well as the release order.
The transfer memory MT2 communicates to the marker, through the link 22, the number of the junctor as well as the release order, then becomes free. The marker MQ directs the explorer EXJ to the junctor in question and receives from this junctor, via link 23, all the indications which make it possible to find the various elements used in the selection chain on the requesting side.
The marker then controls the release of this chain by sending a demagnetization current to the operating electros of the selectors in engagement and to the cutting relay of the calling subscriber. This done, it directs the explorer EXJ again to the trunk to inform it that the release of the selection chain on the requesting side has been carried out. The release of the requested-side selection string is done in the same process.
When the explorer EXJ is again orientated on the considered trunk, under the control of the DCJ code distributor, the trunk logic circuit notes, by examining the memories, that the two selection chains on the calling side and on the requested side have been released; it then releases the junctor, that is to say, puts all of its memories back to their initial position.
If the called subscriber is busy, the marker MQ sends the transfer memory MT1, through the sound link 3, an end of selection order with the called party busy. This order is retransmitted to the recorder, then to the trunk, like the end of simple selection order. Via the control register 1ZC, a relay c is energized in the trunk JTr which finally sends the busy tone to the calling subscriber. The release takes place according to a process already described.
<I> Subscribers to special categories.- </I> According to a known process, the category indication of a subscriber can be displayed, from the excitation circuit of his cut-off relay, by means of a suitable coding device. Such a device is described in detail in patent No. 400252. Unfortunately, it only makes it possible to obtain, for each subscriber, only a small number of categories if one wants to keep a reasonable cost price for the trunk switch. The subscriber, moreover, any change of category requires the displacement of one or more removable connections and can therefore not be obtained automatically either by an operator or by the subscriber.
This method is used only for the current categories (ordinary subscriber, restricted service subscriber, etc.), or to indicate that the subscriber belongs to a special category; in the latter case, the analysis must be carried further by calling on a translator for special subscribers.
We will first deal with the case where it is the applicant who belongs to a special category. When the registrar receives the indication corresponding to the special category from the marker, it enters the MT3 memory through link 13. It then directs the explorer EXJ to the connected trunk (link 6) and transmits to this link - issue a reading order for the calling subscriber's code (link 7).
In fact, when the indications which allow the various elements used in the selection chain to be found in the junction's memories have been entered, not the calling subscriber's directory number has been entered, but its number. equipment number (terminal selector frame number, subscriber rank on the selector benches); during the pre-selection, the marker in fact has no simple means of knowing the directory number of the calling subscriber, unless a translation is performed.
However, for the convenience of the explanation, it will be assumed that the directory number of the subscriber is registered in the memories of the trunk. This call sign is therefore read by the trunk logic circuit and sent to the memory MT3 through the link 14 and a gate <this unblocked by the recorder logic circuit (link 15).
The translator for special subscribers TDS is shown more explicitly in fig. 4. It is essentially constituted by a matrix comprising several rows of ferrite toroids. A row of toroids is assigned to each subscriber corresponding to a special category. So, for example, on the top row of the matrix, which corresponds to the first special subscriber of the first thousand, there are three sets of toroids tol, to2, you.
On the tol toroids, you can read the subscriber's equipment number; on the to2 toroids, we find the call sign of this subscriber, that is to say his directory number, finally, we carry the corresponding category indication on the you. In these conditions, it is understood that it is easy to modify the category of a subscriber; for that, it suffices to erase the indication carried by the toroids to replace it with the desired indication. This operation can be carried out in a simple manner, from the central office, by known means and not shown. The volume of such a matrix is quite small, since the number of special subscribers is low.
Subscribers are listed in the thousands; within each thousand, they are placed in directory number order.
The code of the calling subscriber, entered in the left box of the MT3 memory, is communicated to the DCT code distributor which chooses a browser corresponding to the thousand of the subscriber. It will be assumed that this subscriber is part of the first thousand, the explorer chosen being EXT1. Under the control of the DCT code distributor, EXTl successively explores the various subscribers of the first thousand. The indications read on the toroids to2 by the equipment NA are transmitted to the comparator CP (link 17).
This comparator also receives from the memory MT3 the indication of the calling subscriber (link 28). When the indications received by the comparator CP on links 17 and 28 are identical, the comparator unlocks a gate and <B> </B> (link 29); the category indication read on the toroids by the CS equipment is then transmitted to the right-hand box of the MT3 memory (link 18).
When the recorder is scanned by EXE (fig. 1 and 2), the special category indication is transferred from the MT3 memory to said recorder, after which the memory becomes free. The recorder is then able to control the various operations corresponding to this category.
The category indication of a special subscriber can also be obtained from his equipment number. In this case, this number is entered in the left box of the MT3 memory (fig. 4) instead of the directory number.
By means not shown, the equipment NE is substituted for the equipment NA, so that, when exploring the various rows, the toroids tol, and not the toroids to2, are read. When there is identity between the codes received by the comparator CP on links 17 ′ and 28, the comparator unlocks the gate <B> </B> and <B> </B> (link 29), the indication of hole category next to the equipment number being then transferred to the right-hand box of the MT3 memory. This second method is longer than the first, in the sense that one does not know the thousand of the subscriber and that it is necessary to systematically explore all the rows;
however, it is more practical, at least in the case of a calling subscriber, since the marker, after having carried out the preselection, knows the number of the equipment and not the directory number. Either way, the number of special subscribers is low and the total time spent browsing the rows is never very long.
We will now deal with the case of a special category requested subscriber. When the recorder has received the call sign of the requested subscriber and it is scanned again by EXE (fig. 1 and 2), it cannot know a priori whether it is or not. 'a special category subscriber. However, he needs this information because the routing of the call depends on it. For this purpose, it communicates the code received to the memory MT3 through link 13.
If the called subscriber corresponds to a special category, this category is determined as in the case of a calling subscriber. Otherwise, the exploration of the rows of the TDS translator obviously gives no result and nothing can be written into the MT3 memory. The recorder, finding nothing in this memory, it is concluded that it is an ordinary subscriber.
Common <I> receivers for </I> junctors.- As has been indicated, the electromechanical part JTr of the junctor is simplified and essentially reduced to a few relays. It can be further simplified, by concentrating certain functions in common organs.
This is the case, for example, for sending the switching tone and the inrush current, which require only a short time compared to the immobilization time of the junctor. These common organs, designated under the name of transceivers, have been represented in ER in FIG. 6 and are accessible to the JTr junctors through CHE researchers made up of cross-bar multiselectors. For example, a number of junctors of between 3 and 5 can be provided for each transceiver.
Under these conditions, it is obvious that the control register RC must have access to the junctors JTr, to the researchers CHE and to the transceivers ER. The primary stage and the secondary stage of the selection chain have been represented in EP and ES.
We could replace the ferrite toroids by other memories, such as those using ferroelectric phenomena, provide explorers of another type, distribute the functions differently between the transfer memories MT1 and MT2, adopt to very time diagrams, etc. The various numerical data have been mentioned only by way of example, to facilitate understanding of the operation, and are liable to vary with each particular case.
