Pipe coupling There are pipe couplings, for example for aluminum or plastic pipes for water or Be watering pipelines are known in which a coupling member is provided for each pipe, which is a push-on ring element made of elastic elastic material and a second on the elastic ring element comprises a rigid ring element to be pushed on, wherein the contact surfaces of the two ring elements are conical and the rigid ring element can be screwed or connected in some other way to a likewise rigid sleeve,
so that in the connection of the same a radial pressure is exerted on the elastic, resilient ring element and both the Hal th of the pipe and a liquid seal between the pipe and the coupling parts is called out.
A certain resilience of the element to be pushed onto the tube is caused in particular by longitudinal incisions in the ring element itself.
The pipe coupling according to the invention consists of an elastically flexible ring element with a conical outer surface to be pushed onto each pipe end and a rigid ring element with a conical inner surface to be pushed onto the same, which last-mentioned ring elements can be rigidly connected to one another for the purpose of coupling the pipes and is characterized in that the elastic yielding Ringele element, which is radially compressed by the rigid ring element, is provided with an inclined section with respect to which it generates its conical surface.
The drawing illustrates some exemplary embodiments of the coupling with the elastically flexible element according to the invention, namely show: FIG. 1 a coupling with two pipes attached to it in a partial sectional view, FIG. 2 the ring element alone in a view, FIG Line III-III of Fig. 2, Fig. 4 in schematic form an elastically flexible element in which the incision has a different inclination than that of the element of the preceding Fi gures,
FIG. 5 shows a variant of the elastically flexible element, FIG. 6 shows an embodiment variant of the pipe coupling in axial section and FIG. 7 shows a detail of this embodiment variant in section.
The coupling comprises a metal sleeve 1 which has two parts 2, each of which is suitable for being guided into a corresponding plastic pipe 3 or the like.
To attach each tube 3, an elastically resilient element 4 made of plastic is also seen before, which has the shape of a ring or short tube and which element is internally provided with knurling or the like; the outer surface of the element 4 is conical. The element 4 is provided with a section 5 which extends from one edge of the element to the other, so that the ses is essentially in the form of a snap ring. This cut or slot (see Fig. 1 and in particular Fig. 2) is inclined with respect to the generatrix of the cylindrical surface of the element.
The element 4 can be obtained as a finished piece (i.e. without post-processing) by injection molding (or in some other way).
To fasten each pipe 3 to the socket 1, an element 4 is pushed onto the pipe, the latter being pushed onto a part 2 again. The attachment is achieved by screwing a rigid (me-metallic) ring element 6 onto the correspondingly threaded sleeve 1.
The rigid element 6 has a conical surface on the inside which comes into contact with the corresponding conical surface of the flexible element 4, so that when the element 6 is screwed onto the sleeve, the element 6 becomes a radial one as a result of the contact of the conical surfaces Exerts pressure on the resilient element 4; this thus tightens around the tube 3, which in turn surrounds the part 2 tightly. In this way, the pipe 3 is firmly attached to the socket 1. It is noteworthy that with this cementation the.
Element 4 thanks to the cut 5 around the pipe 3 tightens. In addition to proper blocking of the parts, a secure liquid seal is created thanks to the fact that the element 4 is made of plastic (e.g. PVC) and has the cut mentioned. Pay particular attention to the fact that the inclined position of the cut 5 with respect to the generatrix of the cylindrical surface of the element 4 is such that when considering any generatrix that crosses the section 5 (see FIG. 2) it cuts a plastic zone in any case.
In FIG. 2, for example, a generatrix G which crosses the section is shown. This generatrix cuts the plastic along its sections AB and CD.
Since a certain tolerance is provided for the pipes to be connected by the coupling, i. H. since the tubes can have slightly different diameters (within certain limits), the distance between the edges of the cut 5 will be different depending on the different diameters. It goes without saying that the largest distance between the edges is present with the largest pipe diameter. The inclined position of the cut 5 is in any case such that the condition described above is fulfilled, which consists in the fact that the generators cut the plastic, even if the tube 3 has the largest intended diameter.
If, on the other hand, the inclination of the cut would not meet the mentioned condition, then a certain zone of the outer surface of the tube 3 would be exposed, so to speak, i.e. H. there would be a zone between two generators in which the plastic would not press against the tube 3 at any point.
This is the case in Fig. 4, in which a resilient element is shown with a section which has such an inclination that, assuming the element has been tightened around a pipe in the entire zone between the generatrices M and N with The pipe surface connected to the coupling does not come into contact with the plastic of the flexible element. In the case of Fig. 4 you would not have the desired seal from.
In element 4, an alignment with respect to the screwing direction of the star Ren element 6 is also provided for the section 5 in such a way that the tight pull of the element 4 is favored on the tube.
It should also be noted that sliding in the direction of rotation between the conical surfaces in contact is promoted and any possible jamming is avoided after the element 4 is made of plastic and the element 6 is made of metal.
Finally, a designated 7 indentation of the edge of the element 4 is provided, which comes into engagement with a corresponding projection 8 of the sleeve 1 and prevents rotation of the element 4 in this way. Said recess 7 has a greater width than said projection 8 in order not to hinder the compression of the element 4 together. The indentation 7 is preferably provided at a different location than the cut 5 (i.e. not at the base of the cut) in order to facilitate the injection molding of the element 4.
In the present example, said entry is located at a diametrically opposite point.
The projection 8 on the sleeve consists in the example shown Darge of a relatively thin, U-shaped bent and attached with its ends to the corresponding wall 10 of the sleeve iron.
According to a possible embodiment variant shown in FIG. 5, the elastic, resilient (plastic) element denoted by 4 ′ has a projection 9 instead of the recess 7, to which a recess (not shown for the sake of simplicity) on the wall 10 of the Sleeve 1 corresponds to (that is, a recess is provided in each ward 10). So there is no lead B.
The projection 9 is inserted into the corresponding one jump of the sleeve 1, so that twisting of the element 4 'is prevented.
In the embodiment of the pipe coupling described so far, especially in the case of pipes with larger diameters, difficulties arise in the Mon days, as the ends of the pipe at the point where the coupling between the pipes of a pipe to be laid must be made Coupling sleeve must be inserted into the two pipes to connect.
These difficulties are eliminated in the variant of the pipe coupling described below with reference to FIG.
This pipe coupling comprises two sleeves 102, each of which is pushed into the end of a plastic pipe 103 and is provided with a flange 102a which encompasses the corresponding pipe end. The outer surface of each sleeve 102 which is in contact with the inner wall of the pipe is provided with grooves which result in a sawtooth profile.
Since the sleeves 102 are independent of one another, they can each be individually inserted into a pipe end, where appropriate suitable aids can be used if this appears to be necessary according to the pipe dimensions or the pipe material.
Here, too, an elastically resilient ring element 104 is provided for each tube 103, the inner surface of which is similar to the outer surface of the sleeves 102 and whose outer surface is conical. The element 104 has an inclined slot or cut 105 from one edge to the other and thus has essentially the shape of a snap ring. The ring element 104 corresponds entirely to that of the embodiment described first.
On each resilient ring element 104 a rigid ring element 106 with a conical inner surface is ben scho. The ring elements 106 can be connected and tightened with the help of any mechanical means, for example by means of tie rods 114, after a metal ring 101 has been set between the flanges 102a of the sleeves 102 for guiding the same.
As a result of the conical surfaces of the elements 104 and 106 in contact with one another, when the elements 106 are drawn together, the flexible elements 104 are radially compressed and the tubes 103 are pressed onto the corresponding sleeves 102, while the ring 101 between the flanges 102a increases the rigidity of the coupling ensures.
In order to also ensure the liquid seal, two sealing rings 113 are provided which, when the elements 106 are drawn together, are pressed between the end faces of the sleeve flanges 102a and the beveled inner edges 111 of the ring 101.
If the tubes 103 are made of such a rigid material that when the coupling is tightened, there is insufficient contact with the grooves of the sleeves to produce a secure seal, then a further sealing ring 112 is placed between each ring element 104 and the surface 110 of the corresponding sleeve flange 102a used. This possibility is shown in the lower part of FIG.
As FIG. 7 shows, the ring 101 can also be so high that one or more branch connections, such as that 115, can be provided on it.
