Process for the dyeing of polyacrylic textile fibers N-dialkylated benzene amines possessing the para free position have very often been used as coupling components for the formation of basic quaternary dyes intended for the coloring of fibers based on polymers or copolymers of acrylic nitrile; the coupling can take place either with diazonium derivatives of heterocycles containing a quaternizable nitrogen atom, or in the presence of an oxidizing agent with heterocyclic hydrazones also containing a nitrogen atom capable of taking the quaternary form.
This is the case, in particular, of dyes derived from 2-amino benzothiazole, 3-aminoindazole, N-methylbenzothiazolone-hydrazone-2, 1,2-dimethylbenzimidazolone-hydrazone-2 , 1,2-dimethylindazolone-hydrazone-3 and various derivatives of these compounds, bearing in their benzene ring substitutes of a nonionogenic nature.
The quaternary dyes thus obtained are of great interest for the dyeing of acrylic fibers, but many of them have a limited solubility in cold water, which makes their use difficult for users.
However, it has been found that copulants answering the formula
EMI0001.0023
in which n denotes 2 or 3, R represents a low molecular weight alkyl group, Rz represents a hydrogen atom or a low molecular weight alkyl group and R, an acyl group, provide in association with the salts of diazonium and heterocyclic hydrazones mentioned above dyes with excellent solubility.
The benzene ring can carry other nonionogenic substituents except in the para position of the nitrogen atom.
The subject of the invention is a process for the coloring of polyacrylic textile fibers by dyeing or by printing, characterized in that a dye of formula is applied to the latter.

wherein B represents a heterocycle with two nitrogen atoms one of which is quaternized, R1 a low molecular weight alkyl group, R, a hydrogen atom or a low molecular weight alkyl group, R .; an acyl group, n denotes 2 or 3 and X represents a mono valent anion or its equivalent, the benzene ring A and the heterocyclic radical B possibly carrying nonionogenic substituents.
The dyes of formula (11) can be obtained either by diazotization of a heterocyclic primary amine containing a quaternizable nitrogen atom, coupling with a coupler of formula (1) then treatment with an alkyl or aralkyl ester of a strong acid such as an alkyl or aralkyl halide, sulphate or aryl sulphonate, either by oxidative coupling of a heterocyclic hydra-zone containing a tertiary nitrogen forming part of the heterocycle,
or again by coupling with a diazo derivative of a heterocyclic amine containing a quaternary nitrogen atom. These dyes have a much higher solubility in water than dyes derived from N-dialkoylanilines. While the latter generally separate by themselves, without salting, from the reaction medium, the dyes of the present invention can only be precipitated in most cases by the addition of soluim chloride and chloride. of zinc to their formation medium. The complex salts thus isolated have excellent solubility even in cold water, this property making them particularly advantageous for dyeing and printing polyacrylic fibers.
Compared to the corresponding dyes having a group
