Description

Fabrics
Foils and coatings made of plastics are already used to a large extent for sealing purposes on buildings.
A major disadvantage that such films and coatings have is their low water vapor permeability. Moisture penetrating from the interior should be able to evaporate into the open air through the roof skin or wall skin, otherwise water penetration of the thermal insulation is to be expected or the same can be countered by means of a complicated ventilation system under the roof skin.
This water vapor permeability is less, the thicker the sealing layer is. However, high thicknesses of the films or coatings are desirable so that a higher mechanical resistance and, above all, a high resistance to aging is achieved.
In the case of soft PVC coatings or films, z. B. the aging resistance with the starch, in that more plasticizer is present due to the greater mass per cm2, so that the plasticizer evaporating on the surface is supplemented from below for a longer time.
It has now been found that the water vapor permeability of a plastic film or coating can be increased quite considerably. In the context of the invention, this takes place in that the sheet-like structure made of plastic at least partially contains a fiber fleece.
The invention is then illustrated by means of examples.
example 1
A soft PVC film 0.2 mm thick is covered on a cylinder coating machine with a cellulose fleece of 50 g / m2 and 1 to 6 mm fiber length and at the same time coated with soft PVC paste to a total thickness of 1.0 mm and then gelled.
The water vapor permeability of the entire layer is 8 g per m2 in 24 hours, whereas with a 1 mm compact layer it is only 1.1 g per m2 in 24 hours.
Example 2
A glass fiber fleece of 45 g / m2 with 0.8 longitudinal glass threads of 0.25 mm diameter per cm is coated on a mesh fabric coating machine with a soft PVC paste to a thickness of 1.1 mm and gelled.
The water vapor permeability of this roof membrane is over 50 g / m2 in 24 hours.
Example 3
The soft PVC roof skin produced according to Example 2 is also provided with a 0.1 mm thick cover layer of soft PVC.
The water vapor permeability is then still 19 g / m2 in 24 hours.
Instead of using a compact film or coating, either only the top layer is produced in compact form and the much thicker base layer is interspersed with a fiber fleece, which transports the moisture to the top layer, or the entire layer is interspersed with a fiber fleece.
In order to prevent hot shrinkage, it is advantageous to use practically inextensible threads or fibers, e.g. B. of copper or other metals, glass fibers, etc., to bring in, which act in the sense of a momentary reinforcement during the manufacture and laying of the sheet and are torn for use in order to make the sheet elastic.
