Vandergrinten Bulletin Nr. 64, Seiten 1 bis 7, be schreibt für die Sensibilisierung von Diazotypiematerial Diazoverbindungen der allgemeinen Formel von Fig. 4, worin R1 und R2 gleiche oder verschiedene Alkyllgrup- pen sind und R:;
4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N-methyl- N-(2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anil!in, 4-Diazo-5-chior-2-phenoxy-N-msth-yl- N-(2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anitin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-c'h'lorphenoxy)-N-butyl- N-(2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-ch.lor-2-(4'-chorphenoxy)-N-methyl- N-(2'-benzoyloxyäthyl)-a:
nilin, 4-Diazo-5-c'hlor-2-phenoxy-N,N-di-(2'-acetoxy- ä'flhyl)-an'üin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4' bromphenoxy)-N,N-d'i- (2'-acetoxyäthyl)-a#nilin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-äthoxycarbonyfoxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-c'h'lo@r-2-(4'-chlor phenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-benzyloxy-carbonyloxyäthyd)-anil'in, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-.chlorphenoxy)-N,N-d'i- (2'-phenoxycarbonyloxyäthyl)-anilin,
4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Dazo-5-brom-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- 2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anli,in, 4-Diazo-5-ch#lor-2-(2',4'-dichlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-acetoxyäthyl!)-anäin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(2',4',5'-trichlorphenoxy)- N,N-di-(2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-ch!lo#r-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-bu'tyryloxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-phenacetoxyäthyl)-anilin,
4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chl'orphenoxy)-N,N-d (2'-chloracetoxyäfh,yl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-ch,or-2-(4'-ch1@orphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-propionyfoxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-dY- (2'-benzoyloxyäthyl)-annlin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-furoyl(2)oxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-c'h@ar-2-(2',4'-dichl!orphenoxy)- N-methyl-N-(2'-acetoxyäthyl)-anilin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-c'hlorphenoxy)
-N-n-propyl- N-(2'-acetoxyäthyl)-ani#l,'in, 4-Diazo-5-.chl!or-2-(4'-chlorpnenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-trimet'hylacetoxyäthyl)-ani'lin, 4-Diazo-5-chlor-2-(4'-chlorphenoxy)-N,N-di- (2'-aceitoxypropyl)-anilin.
4 g Phlorog!
Corp., Ardsley, N.
Y., USA) 14 g Natriumformiät 22 g Natriumbenzoat 49 g Trinatriumcitrat (2 aq.) 1,2 g Zitronensäure in 1000 ml Wasser Das pH dieser Flüssigkeit beträgt etwa 6,5.
Entwickler C ist eine Lösung von: 5 g Phi'orogl'ucin 1 g Resorcin 3 g Dikaliumphosphat 3 ml Tergito108 52 g Maleinsäureanhydrid 75 ml Kaliumhydroxydlösung (13,5n) in 1000 ml Wasser Das pH dieser Flüssigkeit beträgt etwa 6,9. Beispiel 1 A.
Patent Supplementary to Main Patent No. 386 841 One-Component Diazotype Material The present invention is an improvement on the subject matter of the main patent. The main patent concerns a diazotype material:
l, which contains a p-aminobenzene diazo compound on a base, the look of a tertiary aromatic amine with only one aryl radical bonded directly to the tertiary nitrogen atom, the diazo group in the p position, in one the o-positions a given:
lt carries a substituted phenoxy group and in the p-position to the phenoxy group can carry a further substituent.
This diazotype material is very light-sensitive and very suitable for the visual determination of the end point of the exposure when copying is carried out with mercury vapor lamps that are active fluorescent light. The azo dyes,
which are formed on the copies during development; are very resistant to a drop in the; pH. In addition, copies on this material show in practically all parts of the picture in which the azo dye is present, i.e. in both the strong and:
the same azo color in the less exposed or unexposed parts.
The diazotype material according to the main patent is preferably one-component diazotype material. One-component iazotype material is mixed with a liquid that contains an azekupplungskomponen @ te,
wraps. Usually the main coupling component used in these fluids is% oroglucinol. In the case of developing liquids containing phloroglucinol, a distinction must be made between weakly alkaline and weakly acidic developing liquids. The weakly acidic liquids are preferred because of their superior shelf life.
Their pH is between 5 and 7 and they usually contain a fairly large amount of buffer salt.
Since the coupling reaction between a diazo compound and an azo coupling component is considerably slower in an acidic medium than in an alkaline medium, a diazotype material that is developed with a weakly acidic, buffered phloroglucinol developer,
contain a diazo compound with much higher coupling activity than a diiazotype material developed with an alkaline liquid, at least if:
it is desired that development take place in the short time or high speed usually employed in development with weakly alkaline developers.
Diazotype material according to the main patent, which is sensitized with a diazo compound having a benzyl group and an alkyl group on the amino group in the p-position,
Due to the high coupling activity of the diazo compound, it is suitable for development with weakly acidic buffered phyloroglucinol developers. In spite of this, this material is not completely satisfactory, since, as a result of its manufacture, the fact that the sensitizing liquid penetrates too deeply into the carrier material,
Difficulties arise. In this context, reference is made to the Dutch patent specification No. 104 269, which is an addition to the h:
OlJändischen main patent specification No. 98612 (corresponding to the main patent No. 386 841) is referenced, where a method for the production of a material according to the main patent, which develops for the development with acidic phloroglucinolines, but using from di- azoverb:
ind'ungen according to the formula of FIG. 1, in which X is an anion and Y is a halogen atom, R 1 and R 2 are methyl or ethyl groups and Ar is a pheny radical substituted by one or more halogen atoms, is suitable.
These diazo compounds still have a coupling activity which is too low for development with weakly acidic, buffered developers; the disadvantage mentioned above, that the sensi'b'disierung- liquid penetrates too deeply, with all its consequences, does not occur in this case.
According to Dutch additional patent specification number 104 269, the diazotype material is with a mixture of a diazo compound according to the above formula and a diazo'hydroquinone dialkyl ether with a high coupling activity, which is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl in the p-position to the diazo group - or carries phenylthio radical, sensitizes.
Although this material has a considerable development speed, development is still too slow, which means that it takes a fairly long time for the azo dye image to attain the desired density.
On development with the usual weakly acidic phloroglucinol developers, diazotype material which is sensitized with a diazo compound according to the above formula gives copies with azo dye images which appear black in the areas in which a large amount of azo dye is formed.
In the areas in which a smaller amount of azo dye is present, however, a brown tone is created which, especially against the veiled background of the copies, gives an unsightly image. It is well known that many black tones can be distinguished. The designation black is used for many very dark color tones that appear more or less black. This is especially true for the diazotype process. Sounds. that are actually very dark blue or very dark brown are often referred to as black.
The azo dyes which are obtained when copies are developed on diazotype material, which is produced with a diazo compound according to the above formula, with a weakly acidic, buffered phloroglucinol developer, are also not completely black.
In U.S. Patent No. 2,655,448, diazotype material is used. which contains a diazo compound of the general formula of FIG. 2, in which X is an anion and R, R1 and R.¯ are alkyl radicals, such as methyl, ethyl, propyl and butyl radicals,
described. Diazotype material which is sensitized with these diazo compounds gives azo dyes with very good water fastness, which is insensitive to pH changes, but according to modern standards has a rather low light sensitivity and is not suitable for development with weakly acidic, buffered phloroglucinins - winders.
In US Pat. No. 2,528,460, diazo type material is a diazo compound of the general formula of FIG. 3, where n is any integer and R is hydrogen, an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical, or an acyl radical, such as is an acetyl, benzoyl or furoyl radical,
and the benzene nucleus can carry substituents such as halogen, alkyl groups with up to three carbon atoms, alkoxy, hydroxyalkyl, carboxy, carboxyalkyl and sulfanoic acid groups.
The diazo compounds described in particular in this USA patent are very stable and suitable for use in one-component and two-component diazotype material. However, they have a relatively low light sensitivity and couple too slowly for use in diazotype material to be developed with weakly acidic, buffered liquids.
Vandergrinten Bulletin No. 64, pages 1 to 7, be written for the sensitization of diazotype material diazo compounds of the general formula of FIG. 4, in which R1 and R2 are the same or different alkyl groups and R :;
an alkyl group or a - (CH2) n O-Ac radical, in which n is 2 or 3 and Ac is an acyl radical, such as acetyl, chloroacetyl, propionyl, butyryl, valeryl, phenacetyl, benzoyl -, Furoyl, Ät'hoxycarbonyl-, Butoxycarbonyl-,
Benzyloxycarbonyl and Phenoxycarbonyl'rest means, is. These diazo compounds have a much higher photosensitivity than those mentioned in the USA patents mentioned above. However, they are not suitable for use in diazotype material that is to be developed with a weakly acidic, buffered phloroglucinol developer, because their coupling activity is too low for this purpose.
The invention now relates to a one-component. diazotype material, according to the claim of the main patent, which is characterized in that the diazotype material is a diazo compound of the general formula:
EMI0002.0145
contains, wherein X is an anion and Y is a halogen atom, Ac is an acyl radical, R is an alkyl radical or a
EMI0002.0149
means R 'is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Z is a halogen atom and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3.
Suitable acyl groups are: the acetyl, propionyl, butyryl, valeryl, capronyl, isopropyl-carbonyl, trimylacetyl, phenacetyl, benzoyl, furoyl (2), methoxycarbonyl -, ethoxy-carbonyl, propoxycarbonyl, isopropoxy-carbonyl, butoxy-carbonyl, isabutoxy-carbonyl,
Benzyloxy-carbonyl and phenoxy-carbonyl groups. This diazotype material has a higher coupling activity than a diazotype material mentioned in the main patent, for example, which is sensitized with a diazo compound which carries a dialkylamino group in the p-position without an acyloxy radical being attached to the alkyl groups,
and is therefore better suited for development with the weakly acidic, buffered phforoglucine developers. In addition, copies are obtained with the diazotype material according to the invention, the partially exposed background of which shows more attractive colors than copies that have been obtained with the diazotype material listed for example in the main publication.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of diazo compounds which can be used in the diazotype material according to the invention:

The diazo compounds can be in the form of their diazonium salts, such as the diazonium chloride, sulfate, nitrate and borofluoride,
as diazonium aryl sulfonate, such as the α-naphthyl sulfonate or p-tofyl sulfonate, or in the form of their metal chloride double salts, such as the diazo, nium chlorostannate, chlorozincate and chloromanganate. You can see each one for yourself
mixed with one another or used as a mixture with other types of diazo compounds.
Of the diazo compounds which can be used in the diazotype material according to the invention, those in which the nitrogen atom in the p-position has two acyloxyalkyl groups are of particular interest. They have a higher coupling activity than the connections
in which one of the alkyl groups of the nitrogen atom is not substituted in the p-position and can be produced in a simpler manner.
Because of their good solubility in the customary aqueous sensitizing fluids, those diazo compounds are particularly advantageous which have a nitrogen atom in the p-position, the two acyloxy'ethyl groups, the acyl groups of which are derived from aliphatic mono,
Carboxylic acids with up to three carbon atoms derive, carry, contain.
In the diazotype material according to the invention, the usual auxiliaries, such as acids, for example citric acid, tartaric acid and maleic acid, stabilizers, for example naphthalene and benzobulfonic acids, substances that improve the surface quality,
such as particles of silica, synthetic resins or rice starch, binders such as polyvinyl alcohol and methyl cellulose, etc. can be used.
Diazo compounds to be used in the diazotype material according to the invention can e.g. B. be manufactured as follows:
2,5-dichloronitride benzene is melted with phenol in the presence of potassium hydroxide. The 5-Ch formed in this way:
lor-2-phenoxynitrobenzene is reduced to 5-CWor-2-phenoxy-ainiline. This product is reacted with epoxy ether or epoxy propane. The 5-chloro-2-phenoxy-N, N-d'i- (2'-hydroxyalkyl) aniline thus obtained is acylated and then nitrated.
The 4 - di - (2'-acyloxyalkyl) -amino-3-phenoxy-6-chloro-nitrobenzene is reduced, after which the amino compound thus obtained is dianotated.
The diazo compounds with a bromine atom in the p-position to the phenoxy group are produced by starting from 2-chloro-5-bromonitrobenzene. Otherwise, the manufacturing process is the same as that described above.
To prepare the compounds with an N-alkyl-N-acyoxyalkylamino group, 5-chloro-2-phenoxy-aniline is mono-alkylated and then reacted with epoxyethane or epoxypropan. Otherwise, the process for the production of these compounds does not differ from that described above.
The compounds which carry a substituted phenoxy group are obtained by using a -substituted phenol instead of phenol in the melting stage.
The Ph'forogllucinenitwickl, which are used in the one-component diazotype process, can be different with regard to composition and acidity.

White base paper for the diazotype process of 80 g / m2 is sensitized with a solution containing 36 g of 4-di- (2'-acetoxyethyl) -amino-3 (4'-chlorophenoxy) -6-chlorobenzdl-diazonium chloride / zinc chloride double salt z contains 5 g of tartaric acid 30 ml of polyvinyl acetate dispersion Vinnapas H. 60 (from Wacker Chemie GmbH, Munich) in 1000 ml of water, and dried.
B. White base paper for the diazotype process of 80 g / m2 is sensitized with a solution containing 36 g of 4-di- (2'-acetoxyethyl) -amino-3 (4'-chlorophenoxy) -6-bromobenzene-diazonium chloride / zinc chloride Double salt contains 5 g tartaric acid 30 ml Vinnapas H.60 in 1000 ml water, and dried.
C. White base paper for the diazotype process of 80 g / m2 is sensitized with a liquid containing 36 g of 4-diethylamino-3- (4'-chlorophen: oxy) 6-chlorobenzene-diazonium chloride / zinc chloride double salt 5 g of tartaric acid 30 ml of Vinnapas H.60 in 1000 ml of water and dried.
One sheet of each of the three diazotype papers thus obtained is exposed image-wise under a pencil drawing on tracing paper until the diazo compound has largely bleached out under the image-free parts of the drawing. Then each sheet is developed with developer B, where an equal amount of developer liquid per m2 is applied to each sheet.
Sheets A and B show a noticeably higher development speed than sheet C. In the background areas of the copies on sheets A and B the azo dye is of a more neutral black than in the background areas of the copy on sheet C.
Example 2 White photographic baryta paper of about 150 g / m2 is sensitized with a solution containing 22 g of 4-di- (2'-benzoyloxyethyl) -amino-3 (4'-c-morphenoxy) -6- chlorobenzenediazonium chloride / zinc chloride double salt contains 5 g tartaric acid 200 ml ethanol (96 / o) 800 ml water, and dried.
A sheet of the diazotype material obtained in this way is exposed under an ink drawing on tracing paper until the entire diazo compound under the non-image parts of the drawing is bleached, and then developed with developer B.
The copy shows a black image on a white background.
If, instead of the diazo compound mentioned, an equimolar amount of the corresponding 4-diethylamino compound had been used in the above sensitizing liquid, then a diazotype paper that would also produce copies with a black image on a white background would be
which, however, would have had a noticeably slower rate of development.
Example 3 In the sensitizing liquid from Example 2, instead of the diazo compound mentioned there, 22 g of 4-di- (2'-furoyl (2) oxyethyl) -amino-3- (4'- chillorphen- oxy) - 6 - chdbrbenzol - d'iazoniumchforid used,
and this liquid is also used to sensitize white baryta paper of around 150 g / m2. After b.ildweilser exposure, as described in Example 2, the copy is developed with developer C.
The copy shows a blue-black image on a clear white background.
Example 4 White base paper for the diazotype process of 80 g / m2 is sensitized with a solution containing 23 g of 4-di '- (2'-ethoxycarbonyloxyethyl;) amino-3- (4 '-chlarphenoxy) -6-chlorobenzene-diazonium chloride / Zin'kchlorid- double salt contains 5 g tartaric acid 30 ml' Vinnapas H.60 in 1000 ml water, and dried.
A sheet of the diazotype material obtained in this way is exposed and developed as described in Example 1.
The copy shows a black image on a gray background.
Example 5 A stock solution containing 4 g tartaric acid 200 ml ethanol (96 / o) 800 ml water is prepared.
I. 13 g of 4-N-methyl, -N- (2'-acetoxyethylamino) -3 (4'-chlorophenoxy) -6-chforbenzol diazonium chloride / zinc chloride double salt are added to 300 ml of this solution.
1I. 10.5 g of 4-N-methyl-N-benzylamino-3-methoxy-6-chlorobenzene-diazonium chloride / zinc chloride double salt are added to a further 300 ml of the above solution. III. 11 g of 4-dimethyl, 1-amino-3- (4'-ch, lorphenoxy) 6- chlorobenzene-dazonium chloride / zinc chloride double salt are added to a further 300 ml of the above solution. A carrier material that is manufactured
by applying a layer of celilulose acetate film (about 15 wtA bound acetic acid) with a thickness of about 10 µ by means of an adhesive to one side of white paper of 150 g / m @ and then b% to a depth of about 4 µ Abis to an acetyl 'salary,
Calculated as bound acetic acid, an average of 20% by weight (which corresponds to an average number of acyl groups on the OH groups of 0.7) is deacetylated, and is sensitized with each of these liquids.
After the sensitization, the light-sensitive layer of each of the three sheets sensitized in this way contains 0.5 mmol of diazo compound per m2 of sensitized surface. A strip is cut off from each sheet.
These strips are exposed under a transparent drawing with ink and pencil lines, until the diazo compound under the white parts of the drawing is largely bleached,
and then developed with developer B. The development takes place in such a way that an equal amount of developer per m2 is applied to each sheet. After 30 seconds the development is canceled,
by dipping the leaves in a strongly acidic liquid. The determination of the amounts of diazo compound which have not coupled shows that 65% of the diazo compound originally present on sheet I has been converted into dye. For sheet 1I this amount is 55% and 51% for sheet III.
A second strip is cut from each of the leaves. As described above, these strips are exposed imagewise and developed, but the development is not interrupted.
The copy on the strip of sheet I shows a black image on a veiled gray background. The copy on the strip of sheet II shows a
Black image on a veiled red-brown background. The copy on the strip of sheet III shows a black image with a slightly brown tone on a veiled gray-brown background. The comparison shows that copy I has a less brown,
has a more neutral background than copy III. In contrast to copies I and III, copy II clearly shows discolouration, which means that the tone of the azo dye in the underground areas does not correspond to the color in those areas in which a large amount of azo dye is present.
Example 6 White base paper for the diazotype process of 80 g / m2 is sensitized with a liquid containing 30 g of 4-bi- (2'-acetoxyethyl) -amino-3-phenoxy 6-chlorobenzene-diazoni ' Chloride / zinc chloride double salt contains 5 g of tartaric acid 30 ml of Vinnapas H.60 in 1000 ml of water, and is dried.
