Pump The present invention relates to a pump characterized in that it comprises a frame having a seat in the shape of a segment of a circle intended to support on the outside a curved part of a deformable pipe, and a support member. rotating pivoted on this frame and comprising at least two rollers brought to crush in turn the tube against the seat during the rotation of said member.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the pump which is the subject of the invention. Fig. 1 is a plan view, some elements being omitted.
Fig. 2 is a cut along line 2-2 of the wire. 1.
The pump: shown comprises a frame consisting of a base plate 1, made of sheet metal, on which a journal 2 is welded. Part 3 of the plate has the shape of a semicircle centered on the axis of the journal 2, while the remaining part 4 has a rec tangular shape (fig. 1). On the circular edge of part 3 and on the two short sides of part 4, plate 1 has a raised edge 5 of straight section of semi-circular shape (fia. 2).
The edge 5 constitutes on its inner face a continuous semicircular hollow seat in which is housed a flexible pipe 6, of plastic material, such as flexible polyvinyl, for example, or of synthetic or natural rubber. This pipe 6, the part of which fitted into the plate 1 has the shape of a U, is detachably attached to the plate by means of two flanges 7 mounted on screws 7a.
A sleeve 8 pivoted on the journal 2 carries a movable cross member 9 extending on either side of the sleeve. An arm 9a of the cross member 9 is cut out of a slot 10 constituting a radial guide for a pin 11 engaged by a flat part in the slot 10. This pin 11 has a bearing surface on which a roller 12 is pivoted. A nut 13 allows to block the axis 11 in any position along the slot 10. An arm 9b of the cross member 9 carries a plate 14 fixed in an adjustable manner along the arm, by means of a nut 15: screwed on a stud 15.
The plate 14 and the arm 9b are pierced with superposed longitudinal slots 16, constituting a radial guide for a pin 17 engaged by a flat part in these slots.
The axis 17 has a bearing surface on which a roller 18. A ring 19, made integral with the axis 17 by a pin 20, constitutes a stop bearing on the upper face of the plate 14. while a bearing surface 21 of the axis constitutes a stop bearing on the inféiieure face of the arm 9 b.
The ring 19 has two grooves 22, diametrically opposed, in which are partially housed two fingers 23 extending downwardly a sleeve 24 threaded on the axis 17. The sleeve 24 has a cavity in which is housed a spring 25 tending to lift the socket. A rotating handle 26 is mounted on the axis 17, which has a head 27 fixed by a pin 28.
In the vicinity of its right end, the plate 14 has a transverse groove 14a (FIG. 1). When the handle 26 is lowered against the action of the spring 25 (position shown in FIG. 2), the fingers 23, previously brought opposite the groove 14a, enter the latter and immobilize the pin 17 in a determined position. along the plate te 14.
The stud 15 is housed in a slot of the plate 14, so that the longitudinal position of the latter on the arm 9b is adjustable.
To operate the pump, first of all the radial position of the two rollers 12 and 18 is adjusted, so that these rollers are caused to crush the pipe 6 as shown in the right part of FIGS. 1 and 2. This adjustment takes place, for the roller 12, by means of the nut 13, and for the roller 18, by the intermediary of the nut 15a, which makes it possible to: the longitudinal position of the plate 14.
Then the operator pressing the handle 26, engages the fingers 23 in the groove 14a and rotates the element 9 carrying the two rollers 12 and 18 which, in turn crush the pipe 6 on the semi-circular part. of the last. A rotation in its direction of arrow A thus has the effect of circulating a liquid filling the pipe in the direction indicated by arrow B.
When the operator releases the handle 26, the bush 24 is lifted by the spring 25 and the worm fingers 23 are released from the groove 14a of the plate 14. The roller 18, which is then no longer held in its position. working position, can move back to release the pipe 6.
In this way, at the end of actuation, the roller 18 is automatically rendered inoperative and the operator can place the element 9 either in an angular position such that the roller 12 cooperating with the pipe 6 closes the latter when stopping. 1a pump, or in an angular position such that this roller no longer cooperates with the pipe. Due to the withdrawal of the roller 18, the pipe 6 is then free of any deformation, retaining its full section for the possible passage of the liquid, and can thus easily function as a siphon.
Note that the pipe 6 can easily be replaced. It suffices to loosen the clamps 7, in order to be able to remove the pipe and put on another one. This allows rapid replacement of the pipe 6 in the event of wear if necessary, or to pump different liquids, without cleaning, using different pipes.
It is also noted that the section of pipe 6 crushed by the rollers is not established between the inlet and outlet fittings of the pump frame, but that it can constitute any section of a connecting pipe much longer installed between two tanks for example. Thanks to this arrangement, when the crushed pipe section shows signs of wear, it suffices to move the pump a little on the pipe. replace the stressed part of the pipe.
It has also been found that the curved shape given to the originally straight pipe 6, and the hollow shape of the seat supporting the pipe, were very favorable, the pipe passing in a well marked manner, under the action of the rollers, of the open section shown on the left in fig. 2 to the closed section shown on the right in the same figure and vice versa.
The absence of any connection on the liquid circuit constitutes an advantage, on the one hand, from the point of view of price, and on the other hand, from the point of view of safety.
The possibility of adjusting the radial position of gaets 12 and 18 makes it possible to use pipes of slightly different diameter or thickness.
In a variant, the locking mechanism of the roller 18 can be arranged so that this roller normally remains in the external position.
Note that the pump shown does not require great precision in execution; the major part of the parts which constitute it can thus be manufactured by molding, in metal or in plastic material, without requiring machining. In addition, when the two rollers are in the external position, the positive displacement pump has a flow that is practically proportional to the angle of rotation of the rollers. The flow can also be reversed due to the change of direction of rotation.
These two characteristics make the pump particularly practical for dispensing liquids from reservoirs, any excess liquid being easily able to be returned to the reservoir by reversing the direction of rotation.
In a variant, the pump may comprise several pipes juxtaposed, in series or in parallel, cooperating with pairs of corresponding rollers carried by the same rotating element.
In the embodiment shown, the pump constitutes a simple and lightweight form of hand pump suitable, for example, for depleting water in pleasure craft.
Alternatively, a small motor could be used to drive the pump.
