Hydraulically or pneumatically actuated piston valve The present invention relates to a hydraulically or pneumatically actuatable piston valve with a valve housing made up of a number of components, as well as a use of the piston valve.
Such piston valves are used in many embodiments in various fields. For example, they are used as multi-way valves in filtration systems to control a circulated liquid, especially in backwashable filter systems with a rinsable cleaning filter. The filter sludge rinsed out is mostly discharged into the sewer system.
In such systems, the inlet and outlet openings of a liquid container are connected to a circulating pump and to the filter through the interposition of the multi-way valve.
This is the case, for example, with swimming pool systems, in which the bath water referred to below as dirty water is filtered in this way, from time to time the filter sludge accumulated in the filter is discharged into the sewer system by backwashing with the dirty water. In normal filtering operation, the multi-way piston valve is then normally in its rest position, while when the filter is backwashed it changes to a working position in which a valve passage connected to the sewage system is connected to the filter, which causes it to be backwashed the filter sludge drains through this passage.
The hydraulic or pneumatic actuation of sol cher piston valves is usually quite complex, since hydraulic pumps or compressors must be used to deliver the actuation pressure. It would therefore be desirable if the line pressure of the water supply network could be used to actuate the piston valve, but there are usually serious concerns on the part of the concessioned authorities due to possible contamination of the water by the liquid to be controlled, and therefore be with regard to the use of drinking water for such purposes are practically prohibitive regulations.
It is now an object of the invention to provide a piston valve which offers the necessary guarantee against contamination of the tap water and thus meets most of the relevant regulations, and can thus be actuated without hesitation by the line pressure of the latter.
Another. The object of the invention is to create a piston valve that is made up of simple and easily available and versatile components and thus can be supplied to a variety of special uses without having to buy an increased inventory of different components.
This is achieved according to the invention in the valve of the type mentioned at the outset in that at least some of the components are identical to one another and that the valve piston actuating member can be acted upon by the actuating pressure on one side, while its other side is exposed to the surroundings .
At least some of the components can be identical to one another and the joints can be bridged on the inside by tubular guide pieces, which can also form the seat for the valve piston. Furthermore, the member actuating the valve piston can be a control piston which can be moved back and forth in a cylinder by tap water via a rolling membrane and is connected to the valve piston by means of a shaft, the cylinder being open on one side. In addition, the control piston can be held in a rest position by spring pressure.
In the following, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention will now be described with reference to the single figure of the drawing, which shows schematically and partially in section a hydraulically controllable piston valve with five connecting pieces.
In the piston valve shown in the drawing, a valve housing denoted as a whole is constructed from five T-shaped pipe sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, which are plugged onto one another and sealed at the joints with 0-rings 2, which at its upper and lower End is completed by a cover plate 8 and 9 respectively. The legs 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 of the T-pipe sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 form the connecting pieces for the liquid to be diverted, in this case water from a swimming pool.
At the joints of the T-pipe pieces 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, on the inside of the O-rings 2, tubular guide pieces 15, 16, 17, 18 sit, which form the joints bridging the plug connections and on their inside as Valve seat are designed for one element of the valve piston.
In the present arrangement, two valve piston elements 19, 20 are rigidly connected to one another coaxially by a shaft 21 which extends through the two end plates 8 and 9. Each of the valve pistons 19, 20 carries an O-ring seal 22 or 23 and a lip seal 24 or 25, which depending on the position of the piston elements 19, 20 with the corresponding valve seats, i. the guide pieces 15, 16, 17, 18 are in engagement.
The shaft section 26 protruding from the upper end of the valve housing 1 through the end plate 8 is inserted in a sleeve 27, at the upper end of which a control piston 29 that can be moved axially back and forth with play in a cylinder 28 is attached. This game is bridged by a rolling diaphragm 32 resting on the actuating piston 29 and fixed between the upper edge 30 of the cylinder 28 and the same top-closing cover plate 31, whereby above the rolling diaphragm 32 a pressure chamber 34 sealed from the lower part of the cylinder cavity 33 is formed. In the plate 31, which hermetically seals the pressure chamber 34 from the outside, an inlet or outlet opening 35 is provided for the pressure fluid.
The cylinder 28 is mounted with fastening means 36 on the valve housing 1, the lower cylinder cavity 33 is open downwards, and is thus directly in communication with the environment. On the fastening means 36 sits a helical compression spring 37, which with its upper end in the hollow Actuate supply piston 29 and the valve piston element 19 and 20 connected to this through the shaft 21, the section 26 and the sleeve 27 receiving the shaft 21 is determined.
If a pressure medium, in this case piped water, is pressed into the pressure chamber 34 through the opening 35 in the cover plate 31, this water presses the rolling diaphragm 32 and thus the actuating piston 29 in the cylinder 28 against the force of the helical pressure spring 37 downwards and causes an axial displacement of the shaft 21 in the direction of the arrow 38. As a result, the valve piston elements 19, 20, which are firmly seated on the shaft 21, detach from the sealing seats 15 and 17 and, as a result of the downward movement of the shaft 21, engage with the sealing seats 16 and 16, respectively 18.
The connections between the connecting pieces 11 with 12 and 13 with 14 that exist in the rest position are thus interrupted and new connections between the connecting pieces 10 and 11 and 12 with 13 are established. When the pressure fluid is drained from the pressure chamber 34 through the opening 35, the helical compression spring 37 pushes the actuating piston 29 with the rolling diaphragm 32 resting on its surface back up into the Ruhela ge, with the valve piston elements 19, 20 again in the position shown in the drawing to return.
Due to the fact that between the valve housing 1 carrying the dirty water and the pressure chamber 34 connected to the fresh water line network for the actuating fluid, not only the sealing rolling membrane 32, but also a space 33 that is open to the environment, is possible for any reasons, for example as a result of pipe rupture, from the valve housing 1 leaking dirty water immediately drain into the environment and is thereby, even in the unlikely event of a simultaneous defect in the rolling membrane 32 not sucked back into the fresh water supply network.
The present piston valve thus offers extensive protection against possible contamination of the tap water.
Of course, a wide variety of designs are possible based on the same principles of this piston valve. For example, the number of T-shaped pipe sections and thus the number of connecting pieces can be increased with a corresponding increase in the number of valve piston elements. The number of passage channels of the valve can therefore be increased as required in a modular manner.
The preferred manufacturing materials for the compo elements are plastics, but metals can just as well be used.
The control of the actuating fluid entering and exiting through the opening 35 can be carried out by means of conventional means, for example by solenoid valves.
