Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht einer erfindungsgemässen Vorrichtung,
Method and device for banding stacks of paper sheets
The present invention relates to a method for banding stacks of paper sheets using a band supply roll on which a plastic band intended for banding is wound, as well as a device for carrying out the method.
For dispatch, magazines are grouped into stacks with a constant number of copies, after which the individual stacks are tied together using tying machines. This known way of tying stacks of magazines together has the disadvantage that it requires complicated and therefore expensive gripping and tying devices, and the edges of the stack are also damaged by the cords.
It is also known to attach paper strips around the stack of magazines instead of cords, the ends of which are glued together.
This type of binding has the disadvantage that a gluing and cutting device is required for the paper strip, and if the glue used does not set sufficiently quickly, there is a risk that the ends glued to one another will subsequently loosen again.
The present invention has set itself the task of reliably binding the stacks of paper sheets together using simple means.
According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the preceding end of the tape is firmly clamped in an organ and guided with the organ on a closed curved path around the stack and, after a complete revolution, its inside is placed on the inside of a further back tape part, and that the one on top of the other Tape parts lying in the area of the contact point are materially connected to one another and at the same time cut through in the area of the connection point over the entire bandwidth.
According to the invention, the device for carrying out this method has an annular disk rotatable around the stack, on which a finger-shaped member for clamping the preceding end of the tape is arranged, by means of two clamping jaws which can be pivoted into the area of the point of contact, in order to press the parts of the tape against one another, whereby one jaw has a heated rib with which it presses against a surface made of self-lubricating plastic of the other jaw.
The invention is explained, for example, using the accompanying schematic drawing.
Show it:
1 shows a side view of a device according to the invention,
Fig. 2 shows a section along the line II-II of Fig. 1 and
3 shows a detail from FIG. 1 in an enlarged illustration.
In Fig. 1, a magazine stack 2 is arranged on a runway 1. Above the stack 2, two pressure bars 3 are arranged so as to be displaceable in the direction of the arrows B in the vertical direction. With the help of the pressure bars 3, the stack 2 is pressed together in such a way that the air located between the individual sheets of paper is pressed out. A tape supply roll 4 is rotatably mounted on an axle 5 to the side of the roller conveyor 1. A plastic tape 8 is wound onto the tape supply roll 5, the leading end of which is clamped in a finger-shaped member 6 at 6a. The finger-shaped member 6 is arranged on an annular disc 7 rotatable in the direction of arrow A, and its longitudinal axis is vertical on that.
When the annular disk 7 rotates, the organ 6 is moved around the stack 2 on a closed curved path, which in the present case is a circle. The previous end of the tape is moved around the stack 2 by the organ 6, the plastic tape being unwound from the tape supply roll 4. The inside of the band 8i comes to rest against the stack 2. After a full rotation of the annular disk 7, the clamping jaws 9 and 10 are pivoted about the center Z from their position shown in dashed lines in Fig. 1-4 into the position shown with solid lines and pressed against each other. The inside 8i of the preceding tape end is placed against the inside 8i of a more distant part of the tape.
The clamping jaw 9 is provided on the side facing the clamping jaw 10 with a layer of a self-lubricating plastic, preferably Teflon. On the side facing the clamping jaw 9, the clamping jaw 10 has a heatable rib 11, which is preferably designed as an electrically heatable resistance wire with a round cross-section that touches the self-lubricating plastic surface of the clamping jaw 9 during a pressing along a surface line. During the pressing process, the resistance wire 11 is heated, so that in the area of the contact point F, namely in the area G, the band material melts and the band parts are connected to one another in a material-locking manner.
At the same time, the heated resistance wire 11 in the area of the connection point G cuts through the two tape parts lying on top of one another over the entire bandwidth.
This creates a material-locking connection between the band parts 8a and 8b on the one hand and between the band parts 8c and 8d on the other hand. After the clamping jaws 9 and 10 have been opened, the stack 2 with the band surrounding it can be removed and a new stack can be fed to the device.
The organ 6 is now moved again by means of the annular disk 7 on a circular path around the next stack. Due to the material fit between the band parts 8a and 8b. During its movement on the circular path, the organ 6 now unwinds the tape 8 from the tape supply roll 4 again and places it around the newly fed stack 2. After another complete revolution of the circular disk 7, the process described is repeated.
The organ 6 can be firmly connected to the circular disk 7, but with each revolution of the circular disk 7, a part of the band 8, corresponding to the circumference of the organ 6, is wound onto the latter, so that relatively large band losses occur.
The member 6 can run freely in the circular disk 7, which has the disadvantage that the band part 8b is always welded to the band 8 to be drawn off from the band supply roll 4 at the same point.
Preferably, therefore, the finger-shaped member 6 is rotatably mounted about its longitudinal axis vertical to the annular disk 7 and rotated by more or less than 360 ″ by means not shown during a complete revolution of the annular disk 7 relative to this in the opposite direction of rotation (arrow C) The rotation can be, for example, 350 "or 370". In such an embodiment, with each revolution of the annular disk 7, a small amount of length is wound onto the member 6 from the preceding tape end, whereby the tape material losses are significantly lower than if the member 6 is firmly attached the annular disk 7 is connected.
