Level meter
The invention relates to a level measuring device with a signal transmitter actuated by a float.
According to the invention, the level measuring device is characterized in that the float is coupled to the signal transmitter by means of a gear consisting of a spindle and spindle nut, the gear part connected to the signal transmitter being arranged to be rotatable and the other gear part held against rotation.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown schematically, namely shows
1 shows the elevation of a level measuring device in the operating position,
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the level measuring device without cover, and
3 shows a section along the line I-I in FIG. 1.
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the level measuring device is fastened to a container 4 by means of the flange 1 of the housing 2 of the signal transmitter 3. Through an opening 5 of the container 4, which is closed by the flange 1, 2 parallel guide rods 6 extend into the container, which are anchored at their upper ends in flange 1 and connected to one another at their lower ends by means of a tab 7. By means of guide bushes 8 anchored to it, the float 9 is guided longitudinally movably on the guide rods 6, whereby - as can be seen from FIG. 3 - the guide rods 6 and the guide bushings 8 pass through the float 9.
Above a central passage 10 (cf.
Fig. 1) of the float is attached to the face of the latter, a spindle nut 11, which has the shape of a disk and - in Fig. 3 can be seen - has an elongated hole 12. Through the elongated hole 12 of the spindle nut or through the passage 10 of the float there extends a spindle 13 produced by rotating a flat bar with the elongated hole 12 corresponding profile around its own longitudinal axis. The upper end of the spindle 13 is non-rotatably connected to a shaft 14 which in turn penetrates the bottom of the housing 2 and is rotatably mounted there. An arm 15 directed at right angles to it and located in the housing 2 is connected to the shaft 14 in a rotationally fixed manner. At the free end of the arm 15 there is a pointer 16 which cooperates with a circular arc-shaped scale 17.
In addition to the arm 15, the shaft 14 carries a control cam 18 which is also connected to it in a rotationally fixed manner and which actuates a switch 19. The arrangement is made such that the connection of the control cam 18, possibly also that of the arm 15 with the shaft 14, is detachable, said parts being rotatable relative to one another around the shaft axis and being non-rotatably connected to one another in any rotational position. In this way, any desired float position can be brought into a fixed relationship on the one hand with the visual display of the signal transmitter 3 and on the other hand with the signaling by means of the switch 19.
Electrical signaling can serve various purposes; Mention should only be made, for example, of activating a warning device, controlling one or more pumps or other equipment required in connection with the operation of a container, etc. It goes without saying that several switches or other signaling devices are also provided for this or for similar purposes could be.
The operation of the level measuring device is easily understandable from what has already been said. The longitudinal movement of the float 9 is converted into a rotary movement by the gearing consisting of the spindle 13 and the spindle nut 11 and transmitted to the signal transmitter 3. In the present case, the favorable properties of such a transmission benefit from increased display accuracy.
In addition to the simple design of the device, which promises trouble-free operation, its adaptability is remarkable. So z. B. the internal translation of the gearbox can be easily changed thanks to the design of the spindle 13 and adapted to particular conditions or for the purpose of calibration. Likewise, basically the same type of device can be used for containers of the most varied of sizes, with guide rods 6 or spindles 13 of a corresponding length being used depending on the depth of the container in question. Also noteworthy is the usability of the level measuring device in containers of any shape, for example one and the same type of device can be used in horizontal or vertical tanks.
In the case of a modification of the level measuring device described, the spindle 13 could - to mention just a few of the modification options - be held against rotation, the spindle nut 11 having to be coupled to the signal transmitter. The rotary movement of the spindle nut 11 could be transmitted to the pointer by means of the guide rods 6.
It goes without saying that the signal transmitter can also be set up only for optical, or only for electrical, or for any type of signaling or for a combination of different types of signaling.
