Fig. 3) im Boden der Überwurfmutter 1 hinein.

Screw piece for connecting two thermocouples to an ignition fuse of gas burners The invention relates to a screw piece for connecting two thermocouples to an ignition fuse of gas burners and at the same time for clamping a magnet insert to the ignition fuse, the center contact of which is via a contact disc, which in the The metal housing of the screw piece is housed axially movable and electrically insulated,
when screwing in the thermocouples is connected to their connections.
In a known screw piece of this type, the screw nipple-like metal housing has an internal thread that can be screwed to the gas valve at its one (lower) end. The other end of the housing has a recess into which the contact disk and the insulating material are used, which electrically isolate the disk from the metal housing. A metal disk is inserted into the recess above the contact disk, which is held at a distance from the contact disk by the insulating material and also contains the threaded holes for the screw nipples used to connect the thermocouples.
The upper edge of the metal housing is crimped inwards so that the parts placed in the recess are secured against falling out of the housing. In this known screw piece, the upper section, which encloses the parts inserted in it, cannot be made as small in external diameter as the lower section, which contains the internal thread used to screw the screw piece onto the gas valve. The upper end of the screw piece therefore becomes relatively thick. In the case of spatially restricted installation conditions, such a screw piece cannot or can hardly be used.
In contrast, a screw piece with a smaller outer diameter according to the invention can be achieved for the stated purpose in that the metal housing of the screw piece is designed as a union nut, in the closed bottom of which there are the threaded holes for the connection nipples of the thermocouples, and also the ones in the housing loosely seated contact washer is secured against falling out of the housing by a ring inserted into it,
which tightens the magnetic insert to the valve when the union nut is screwed onto the ignition safety fitting.
The drawing shows, on an enlarged scale, two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention in longitudinal section.
Fig. 1 shows the first and Fig. 2 the second example, Fig. 3 shows a plan view of the union nut used in the second example.
In both examples, the housing of the screw piece consists of a union nut 1 which can be screwed onto a connecting piece 2 of an ignition safety fitting (not shown in detail). The base of the union nut 1 is penetrated by two threaded holes 3, the axes of which run parallel to one another at the same distance from the axis of the union nut 1.
The connection nipples 4 for two thermocouples (not shown) can be screwed into these threaded holes. The collar-like thickened ends 5 of the center conductors 6 of these thermocouples, which are electrically insulated from the nipple 4, protrude into an annular groove 7 when the nipples are connected, which groove is pierced into one end of a contact disk 8. This contact disk, like an insulating material sleeve 9 enclosing it with play, has been pushed into the interior of the same from the screw-on end of the union nut 1.
A screw ring 10 that is then screwed into the screw thread of the union nut 1 tightly clamps the sleeve 9 and prevents the contact washer 8 lying loosely inside the nut from falling out of the union nut 1.
When the union nut 1 is screwed onto the connector 2, the screw ring 10 also presses the collar 11 of a magnet insert pushed into the connector 2 in a sealing manner against the front edge of the connector.

The magnet insert itself has a sleeve-like metal housing 12 carrying the collar 11, in which a U-shaped magnet core 13 is attached, which carries an excitation winding 14 on one of its legs. One end of this winding is connected to the housing 12, while its other end is connected to a central contact 15, which is insulated and firmly seated in the cover of the housing 12 and protrudes from it.
Opposite the leg ends of the magnet core 13 is an armature plate 16, which is seated in the housing 12 on a shaft 17 of a valve disk (not shown) of the ignition safety fitting that is guided in the bottom of this housing so as to be longitudinally displaceable.
When the nipples 4 of the thermocouples are screwed into the threaded holes 3 after screwing the union nut 1 onto the nozzle 2 and tightening the magnet insert on the nozzle 2, the spherical end face of the contact disk 8 facing the center contact 15 is pressed against the correspondingly hollowed out end face of the center contact 15 , so that there is a good conductive connection between the thermocouples and the magnet insert.
The second example according to FIG. 2 differs from the first essentially in that, on the one hand, instead of the screw ring 10, a threadless ring 18 is pressed up to the stop against a snap ring 19 embedded in an annular groove in the nut bore. The nut thread becomes shorter in this way and the installation of the threadless ring 18 is easier.
In addition, in the second example, before the contact washer 8 is inserted into the interior of the union nut 1, an insulating part 20 is inserted, which has two longitudinal bores that are coaxial with the threaded holes 3 contained in the base of the union nut 1, but have a slightly smaller diameter than these. In these longitudinal bores, intermediate contact bolts 21 are guided in a longitudinally displaceable manner, which transfer the contact pressure arising when tightening the nipple 4 in a straight line to the contact disk 8. The intermediate contact bolts 21 prevent lateral shear forces from acting on the weak heads 5 of the central conductors 6 of the thermocouples when the nipples 4 are tightened.
In order to ensure the alignment of the threaded holes 3 and the longitudinal bores receiving the intermediate contact bolts 21, the insulating material part 20 with a pin (not shown) protrudes into a bore 22 (see FIG. 3) in the base of the union nut 1.
In the inner bore of the union nut 1, an annular groove 23 is then pierced in the bottom, so that between the intermediate contact bolts 21 and the heads 5 of the central conductors 6 of the thermocouples on the one hand and the inner wall of the nut on the other hand, a distance is created which, even under unfavorable conditions, the Parts 21 or 5 with the inner wall exclude. If you imagine that the outside diameter of the union nut 1 is actually only about 22 mm and that unfavorable tolerance relationships of the individual parts can come together in production,
it becomes understandable that precautions must be taken to avoid touching parts of different potentials.
