Method for achieving a pulsation-free flow in the suction and pressure lines of a positive displacement pump with three or more cylinders and a modulator for carrying out the method The invention relates to a method for achieving a pulsation-free flow in the suction and pressure lines of a positive displacement pump with three or more cylinders and a modulator suitable for carrying out this process,
which gives the uniform rotary motion of the drive shaft of a positive displacement pump with three or more cylinders an additional movement.
Piston or plunger or diaphragm pumps have a particular disadvantage. They promote fluidity in such an irregular way that one often gets to feel these nuisances. As a result of the pulsation phenomenon, the performance of the pump cannot be checked with flow meters. Furthermore, one often has to use more lines than would otherwise have been necessary, whereby the pulsation can also lead to unpleasant phenomena. Shocks can occur, especially with long lines, and these pressure surges often lead to leakage of the pump glands.
In addition, the drive motor and the gearbox are loaded intermittently. In order to limit the pulsation without being able to prevent it entirely, air tanks or pump systems that are equipped with several individual pumps (up to 9 units) are used. However, the use of air vessels is in many cases inconvenient, and pumping systems with many individual pumps are expensive. The production of a piston pump with a perfectly even flow in the suction and pressure lines, as is the case with a centrifugal pump, seems at first glance a utopia. However, the industry urgently requires piston pumps of this type.
Attempts have already been made to produce pulsation-free plungers = pumps. However, this only related to the pressure line of the pump, and the freedom from pulsation in this was achieved at the expense of the processes in the suction line. The construction mentioned concerned a cam disk which drove two plunger pistons. By correctly calculating the cam disc, a pulsation-free flow in the pressure line is indeed achieved.
However, a very violent pulsation then arises in the suction line, with the liquid even standing still at regular intervals, only to suddenly be accelerated again in jerks or to come to a complete standstill. It goes without saying that such pumps can only be used useful with very short suction lines and only with a considerably high back pressure.
The idea of the invention is that the special len peculiarities v. Piston pumps, namely the pulsating de promotion, to be eliminated by superimposing a corresponding additional movement on the rotary movement of the crankshaft. This crank movement will be referred to below as a modulated movement.
To make it clear what is meant by a modulated type of drive, imagine a pump with three or more cylinders, the valves of which are inevitably controlled. Such a pump can also function as a hydraulic motor. If you direct a perfectly even, i.e. not pulsating, flow of liquid through this pump, the crankshaft will start rotating. However, this rotation then does not take place uniformly, but instead leads to vibrations with a certain amplitude compared to a uniform rotational movement.
We now transfer the same non-uniform movement to the crankshaft of the machine, which now functions as a pump again. The result is then pulsation-free operation of the pump. The non-uniform drive type of the crankshaft intended here, which will be examined in more detail analytically below, is to be referred to as a modulated drive. It is a type of drive for the crankshaft in which the inertia of the liquid in the suction and pressure lines does not have any retroactive effect on the drive. The present invention is based on the mathematical elaboration of this discovery.
Accordingly, the invention relates to a method for achieving a pulsation-free flow in the suction and pressure lines of a positive displacement pump with three or more cylinders, which is characterized in that the uniform rotational movement of the drive shaft is superimposed on an oscillation that occurs when the piston movement is normal Pulsation compensates for this in such a way that the sum of the piston speeds remains constant during every pressure stroke and also during every suction stroke.
The invention also relates to a modulator suitable for implementing this method, which gives the uniform rotary movement of the drive shaft of a positive displacement pump with three or more cylinders an additional movement in the sense of the method just marked.
As a result of the steady flow, a pump equipped with a modulator has a very steady rate and can therefore run faster than a normally driven pump.
A simple scheme of a modulator is shown in FIG. The driving lever arm 5 rotates at a constant speed. The lever arm 6 is connected to the former at the pivot point 9, while a cam roller 3 is attached to the arm 6 on the other hand. This cam roller moves in the curve 2 of the fixed cam 1. The curve 2 is drawn in a circular shape, since the deviations from the circular shape are so small that it is difficult to draw them. However, this should not interfere with the understanding of the invention. On the arm 6, a pivot pin 8 is also arranged, on which a slide block 10 GE guided in the arm 7 is located.
With uniform Dre hung of the driving lever arm 5, the cure venrolle 3 now performs an oscillating movement that is communicated via the arm 6 and the pin 8 to the arm 7, which is connected by the axis 4 to the crankshaft. As a result, the crankshaft rotates at an angular speed which fluctuates with regard to the uniform rotational movement of the lever arm 5.
Another embodiment of the modulator can be seen from FIG. Here the modulator is arranged in a gear transmission, which slows down the speed of rotation. The gear wheel 8 is stationary, and a planet arm 5 with the gear wheels 6 and 11, which are connected to the planet arm by means of the axis 10, moves around the gear wheel 8. The gear wheel 12 is connected by the axis 9 to the driving motor. The cam 1 is in turn firmly connected to the gear 6.
The cam roller 3 is guided in the curve 2, whereby the arm 7 and the axis 4 get the desired non-uniform rotational movement. Of course, other constructions of the modulator are also possible. So z. For example, a planetary gear can be arranged in the gear transmission that slows down the rotational movement. The planet arm with the planet wheel then does not move in a circle, but instead executes a forced, oscillating movement around a fixed central position.
The oscillating movement can be prescribed, for example, by a correctly calculated cam.
The calculation of the modulation curve is given below for a pump with 3 and 4 cylinders. It should be noted in advance that the following statements are linked to some restrictive requirements. As far as pumps with an uneven number of cylinders are concerned, one of them is that the ratio of the connecting rod length to the crank radius must be infinite, as is the case e.g. B. is the case with a crank loop.
3 shows 3 cranks of a triplex pump which form an angle of 120 with one another. There are two phases to be considered, each of which encompasses an angle of 60 °. In the first phase, a crank is in the working position during the pressure stroke; the second phase involves two cranks. The same applies below to the suction stroke. The cranks that perform the modulated rotation are drawn in full lines and swing back and forth with respect to uniformly rotating cranks that are shown in dashed lines. The modulated rotating cranks lead in the drawing by the angle a. The uniformly rotating cranks should only serve as a basis for comparison.
The angle of uniform movement is cp. One can regard 9 as a time parameter, where cp = wt. Here w is the constant angular velocity and t the time. If the length of the cranks is set to 1 and the requirement is that for the first phase the path of the piston in the pressure stroke runs linearly with time, i.e. with the value cp, it follows that the following relationship between a and cp consists of:
EMI0002.0055
The same relationship also applies to the sum of the piston travel in the second phase. The relationship can be easily deduced from the drawing.
A repeated differentiation of equation (1) gives the following:
EMI0002.0056
From this, the angle α, the angular speed and the angular acceleration of the modulated crank movement as a function of cp, i.e. H. can be calculated as a function of time.
According to equation (1), a number of values are calculated and shown in the drawing in FIG.
The values for cp are plotted along the abscissa and the associated values for a are plotted along the ordinate; For the sake of clarity, the scale values for a are greatly enlarged compared to those for cp. This curve, which can be obtained from equation (1), gives a continuously extending wavy line.
The maximum value of a is 0.00947 rad, the minimum value is - 0.00947 rad. This gives an angular amplitude of around <B> 0.019 </B> rad, which corresponds to an amount of 19 mm with a radius of 1 m. The maximum angular acceleration in relation to the parameter cp is 0.7020: in relation to the time this means a maximum angular acceleration of 0.7020 w2 rad / sec2.
The curve applies within a range of 60 and must therefore be applied to the cam disk in FIG. 1 6 times. Of course, the calculated values must be increased in the ratio of the lever ratios of the arm 6 in FIG. 1. From equation (1) it is therefore possible to calculate all the information that is necessary for the implementation of the invention. From equations (2) and (3) follow all the information about the occurring speeds and accelerations, on the basis of which the loads on the various machine parts and the entire facility can be calculated.
The accelerations and decelerations caused by the operation of the modulator and the resulting inertia forces are small and have no significance in relation to the inertia forces that the pulsation triggers in a pump mechanism that is driven in the usual way.
Fig. 5 shows four modulated and four uniformly rotating cranks of a pump with 4 cylinders. The cranks form an angle of 90 with each other. From the figure it can be deduced that the movements carried out by the modulated rotating cranks must satisfy the following equation:
EMI0003.0004
The equation applies between the values cp = 45 and cp = 135, i.e. over an angular range of 90. The repeated differentiation gives
EMI0003.0007
Here, too, the speeds that occur can be calculated from equation (5) and the acceleration from equation (6) for all values of cp.
In FIG. 6, a is again drawn as a function of cp based on a sufficient number of calculated values. The scale values of cc are greatly enlarged compared to the values of cp. Since the curve covers an area of 90, it must be transferred to the cam disk four times. Such a four-cylinder pump can also be equipped with connecting rods, which is due to the fact that the pistons have a phase shift of 90.
The deviations from the exact solution that occur here are negligible in practice. Fig. 7 shows a design of a four-cylinder pump, bar the two and two cylinders are arranged opposite and driven by crank grind. The pump can of course also be equipped with two double-acting cylinders.
The idea of the invention can also be realized by pum penlagen with more than 4 cylinders. Such a device can be useful if the required capacity for 4 cylinders is too large. However, this will only belong to the exceptional cases, since the pump cylinder can usually be made arbitrarily large. However, this latter measure is sometimes not possible, for example when very high delivery pressures are required. The idea according to the invention can also be applied to diaphragm pumps, as goes without saying.
Just like the piston pumps driven in the usual way, a pump system can like. of the invention be provided with an adjustable eccentric so that the stroke lengths of all pistons can be changed. In this way, the delivery rate of a pump can be adjusted as desired, while pulsation-free operation is still maintained.
In this way a pulsation-free metering pump is achieved. Two piston machines can be used for the hydraulic transmission of power, one of which can be equipped with adjustable eccentrics. One of these piston machines is driven, for example, by an electric motor and supplies the hydraulic pressure for the other piston machine, which acts as a hydraulic motor. The number of revolutions of the hydraulic motor can be set as desired by adjusting the eccentric.
At very high pressure, the elasticity of the liquid begins to play a role. At the beginning of the pressure stroke, the liquid is then not pressed directly through the valve flap, rather this only happens after the liquid has been sufficiently compressed. Likewise, the liquid is not sucked in immediately at the beginning of the suction stroke, but only after the liquid has expanded to a corresponding extent. This phenomenon can be an obstacle to the pulsation-free working of the pump.
However, it is to be understood that an appropriate modification of the curve in the modulator is the given way of eliminating the difficulties. In accordance with the concept of the invention, pumps for very high pressures can also be made pulsation-free, be it that the compensation achieved is only effective at one and the same pressure.
