B. eben falls PVC, in Pulverform aufgestreut.
The present invention relates to a method for the production of an object having the appearance of solid wood in particular with a support part and at least one plastic film forming the visible part.
There is an increasing effort to create objects such as panels, strips and the like. To create the appearance of expensive wood, such as. B. teak, but each consist of much cheaper materials. For this purpose, foils made of plastic, which have a wood pattern, are glued to a carrier, for example made of pressboard. In the case of flat surfaces of the objects, this method is still reasonably satisfactory.
However, as soon as edges, curves, grooves and the like are to be coated on the carrier, difficulties arise that affect the appearance and adhesion of the films.
The object on which the present invention is based is to create a method of the type mentioned at the outset, which ensures that the visible part is held securely on the supporting part even in the case of irregularities in the surface of the object.
The above-mentioned object is achieved according to the invention in that the film with a mixture of cellulose chips and a binder forming the support part of the object, a layer of a plastic in powder form corresponding to the film being sprinkled on between .the film and the mixture, in a mold is pressed together with the supply of heat to form the object to be manufactured.
Since the plastic film is pressed onto the carrier during its formation, an intimate connection is created between the film and the carrier, regardless of irregularities in the surface of the carrier, which is further enhanced by the plastic material corresponding to the film, which is introduced in powder form.
An exemplary embodiment of the method according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, the single figure of which shows the object according to the invention during its manufacture. The figure shows in cross section an elongated Ma trize 1 with a recess 2 with which an indicated ram 3 interacts.
In order to heat the mold, lines are provided in the die and possibly also in the press ram, through which hot water is pressed.
The method chosen as an example for the production of a bar, the visible surfaces of which have a wooden structure, proceeds as follows.
A film 5 made of a thermoplastic material, such as PVC, is placed in the recess of the die 1, with its wood structure surface coming to rest against the die. On the film is then a layer 6 of a .the film ent speaking plastic, in the present case z. B. just if PVC, sprinkled in powder form.
Sawdust 7, mixed with a thermoplastic synthetic resin serving as a binding agent, is then filled into the recess of the mold and wiped off with a gauge.
The punch is then moved against the die and the pressing process is carried out at approx. 130 C.
The resin used as the binding agent should preferably be hardened before it is mixed with the sawdust so that no more moisture is created afterwards. This enables the production of custom-made profile rods and panels.
In the production process described, the one, in the figure facing upward surface of the strips to be produced forth is not covered with a plastic film, since this area is not visible when the strip is intended for use. However, if all surfaces of a bar are visible, then of course this surface could also be connected in the same way with an additional film in the same pressing process.
The layer 6 applied in powder form results in good anchoring of the film and at the same time a reinforcement of the same. Depending on the circumstances, the thickness of this layer can be varied. Using the same procedure, a film with a different pattern than a wood pattern could also be used.
With the method described, for example, panels for doors or skirting boards can be produced, in the latter case an advantage also being that the skirting boards can be bent when heated and can thus be adapted to any curve or corner.
