Balancing capacitor The invention relates to a balancing capacitor, which is characterized by a tubular outer housing, which has at least one metallic, cylindrical surface, as well as by a piston-shaped part, the length of which is approximately the same as that of the outer housing, and which is narrow according to play is axially displaceable in the outer housing, wherein the piston-shaped part contains at least one metallic cylindrical surface that is separated from the metallic surface of the outer housing in the radial direction,
and a cylindrical dielectric part is arranged between the metallic cylindrical surfaces.
The known balancing capacitors with tubular structure usually contain a quartz tube, one end area of which is externally metaJ1isiert and the opposite end area is closed by a metallic sleeve, with the help of which the capacitor can be fixed in its working position, e.g. B. on a chassis or other mounting surface. The sleeve and the metallized end of the quartz tube form the two poles of such a capacitor.
The bush is bored through in the axial direction and provided with a thread for receiving a screw which extends axially into the tube and which carries a metallic piston at its inner end, which is guided in the tube with little play.
The piston is adjustable by the screw and forms the variable link of the capacitor, the quartz tube forming the dielectric and the metalized end of the tube the fixed link. Adjusting capacitors of this design are expensive to manufacture because of the relative brittleness of the quartz tube mechanically not strong enough and, as far as the temperature coefficient is concerned, not completely satisfactory, since z. B. the piston serving for coordination and the quartz rotating mechanism with the metallized layer are made of different materials.
The invention aims to provide a balancing capacitor of the type mentioned, in which these disadvantages can be avoided, which is mechanically stable and with which favorable temperature coefficients can be achieved. The invention is explained with reference to exemplary embodiments shown schematically in the drawing.
The figures show: FIG. 1 an axial section of an embodiment of the balancing capacitor according to the invention, FIG. 2 a similar section of another embodiment, FIG. 3 an axial section of a balancing -Condenser, which forms a further embodiment of the invention, FIG. 4 shows the fastening of the balancing capacitor according to FIG. 3 in a supporting part, such as, for. B.
a metallic chassis and FIG. 5 shows a further embodiment of the invention. The balancing capacitor shown in FIG. 1 is provided with an outer housing 10, one of which is closed by a pin-shaped part 12 drilled through axially Carries threaded rod 14 which extends in the axial direction of the housing. One end of the housing 10 is provided with a bracket 16 which is attached to the housing. At the opposite end of the housing, an extension 18 extends without a thread of the rod 14 out of the housing and is bent parallel to the bracket 16 .
In the housing 10, a sleeve 20 made of dielectric material, preferably made of polytetrafluoroethylene, is fastened without play. In the bush there is a piston-shaped part 22 made of brass with little play, which has an axial bore which is only provided with a thread which cooperates with the thread of the rod 14. The outer housing 10 thus forms the fixed electrode of the capacitor, the movable electrode of which is formed by the piston-shaped part 22.
The sleeve 20 forms the dielectric of the capacitor. The free end of the cup-shaped part 22 is provided with a slot 24 for a screwdriver or with a similar surface that serves to adjust the adjustment.
In that the guide rod 14 is guided in the pin-shaped part 12 as well as in the piston-shaped part 22, which, as can be seen from the drawing, has a length that is approximately the same as that of the housing, and during a significant length of its Adjustment range is firmly encompassed by the sleeve 20, a significant mechanical stability is achieved.
If the rod 14 is provided with a relatively fine thread, then a great sensitivity of the tuning can be achieved, which is significantly supported by the character of a solid lubricant of the dielectric sleeve, if this is made of the preferred or a similar material. By using the same metal for the outer housing and for the piston-shaped part, an advantageous charac teristics of the temperature coefficient of the capacitor is achieved.
The shown. Design of the bracket 16 for fastening as well as the extended part 18 of the threaded rod 14 is particularly advantageous for fastening on the plate of a printed circuit. It goes without saying, however, that if the rod 14 is elongated in the axial direction, the capacitor can be built up in the vertical direction, it being possible under certain circumstances to omit the bracket 16. On the other hand, if the bracket is retained for attachment, a straight extension portion of the rod 14 can be provided with a cavity for receiving the inner conductor of a coaxial cable. The outer conductor can then be pulled over this rod and conductively connected directly to the housing 10 .
In the embodiment of the capacitor, which is shown in FIG. 2, the outer housing, which in the embodiment according to FIG. 1 consists entirely of metal, is surrounded by a tube 30 </ B> made of synthetic resin, which is seen with a metallized outer surface 32 , at one end of which a bracket 16 is attached. The inner, cylindrical surface of the tube 30 is provided with a thread which serves to receive a metallic piston-shaped part 34 which is likewise provided with a thread. The piston-shaped part 34 is provided with a slot 36 for adjustment using a screwdriver and is drilled through in the axial direction.
In the bore of the piston-shaped part there is a contact part 38 which is attached to an end cap 40. The end cap 40 is provided with a radial tab 42 for fastening. The cap 40 is attached to the non-metallized part of the outer housing 30 by gluing, pressing on, or some other type of attachment.
The characteristic of the temperature coefficient of a capacitor of this type is not as favorable as that of the previous embodiment, the mechanical cal stability and the good fastening possibility, but are comparable with this, the structure being cheaper to manufacture.
It goes without saying that the embodiment according to FIG. 2 can be changed in various ways, with z. B. instead of the outer surface, the inner surface of the tube 30 can be metallized. The piston can be made from a thin-walled tube made of synthetic resin and also have a metallized inner surface so that the thickness of the wall of the piston forms the dielectric of the capacitor. In this case the capacitor has an electrically insulating outer surface.
In a further embodiment, which is shown in Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawing, the Kon capacitor for attachment to a supporting part such. B. determined a metallic chassis. In this case, the condenser contains a tubular metallic outer housing 50 which is closed by an axially pierced pin-shaped part 52 . The peg-shaped part 52 carries a rod 54 which extends in the axial direction of the housing. The rod 54 extends in the axial direction essentially along the entire length of the housing and leads through the peg-shaped part 52 to the outside, where it carries a contact part 56 for attachment Soldering forms. The part of the rod located in the housing is provided with a thread 58 .
A cylindrical sleeve 60 made of dielectric material such as e.g. B. Polytetrafluoroethylene is fixed in the housing 50 . A piston-shaped part 62 made of metal, which is provided with an axial bore 69 , is inserted from the open end of the housing into the latter and is displaceable in the bushing with little play > 60 stored. The bore 69 is provided with a thread which cooperates with the thread 58 of the rod 54. The outer housing 50 in this way forms the fixed electrode of a capacitor, its movable electrode through the piston-shaped part 62 and its dielectric through the bushing 60 </ B > is formed.
The free end of the piston-shaped part 62 is provided with a slot 64 for a screwdriver, can also have other surfaces for adjustment. The tubular, metallic outer housing 50 is provided at its open end with a stop 66 on the circumference, the outer surfaces of which form a hexagon.
A part 68 of the housing, which is located next to the stop in the axial direction, is provided with a thread, the diametrical distance between opposite surfaces of the hexagon being greater than the outer diameter of the thread of the part > 68. The part provided with the thread 68 does not extend over the entire length of the housing 50. The remaining part of the housing has a diameter which is smaller than the inner diameter of the thread of the part 68 so that a hexagonal nut 70 on the part 68 of the pipe shaped outer housing 50 can be screwed.
As shown in FIG. 4, the capacitor can be attached to a supporting part 72 in such a way that an opening 74 is drilled in this part, which is shown in dashed lines in the figure , cr, is larger than where the diameter of the opening o c. - outer diameter of the thread of the part 68, but smaller than the diametrical distance,
between the surfaces of the hexagon of the stop 66. The capacitor is inserted into the opening 74 in such a way that the stop 66 rests on the supporting part 72 > rests on, whereupon the nut 70 is screwed onto the thread of the part 68 until it reaches the supporting part 72 from the other side Comes down. The nut 70 is then tightened firmly, as a result of which the supporting part is clamped between the stop 66 and the nut 70 .
To increase the capacitance of a capacitor, it is necessary to either increase the size of the electrodes or their number. In FIG. 5 of the drawing, a tubular balancing capacitor according to the invention is shown, which has two concentric tubular dielectric Has parts, as well as an additional inner electrode which is connected to the outer housing. The capacitor contains a cylindrical outer housing 80 made of metal, which serves as an outer electrode and in which a cylindrical dielectric sleeve 82 is firmly arranged.
A tubular metallic piston-shaped part 84, which is closed at one end, is slidable with little play between the sleeve 82 and a second cylindrical dielectric. Bushing 86 arranged. The sleeve 86 is firmly attached to the outside of an inner tubular metallic electrode 88 . One end of the inner electrode 88 is attached to a peg-shaped part 104 which is inserted into the electrode and closes one end of the outer G housing 80. The electrodes and the dielectric sleeves are fixed by radially arranged pins 90 .
By forming the pins 90 from electrically conductive material, an additional electrical connection of the inner electrode 88 to the outer housing 80 can be achieved be created. A part of the inner surface of the inner electrode 88 is provided with a thread 96 and acts with a thread corresponding to the thread of a rod 92 from electrically insulating Material together. The rod 92 is screwed into an axial bore provided with a thread in the closed end of the piston-shaped part 84.
The end face of the piston-shaped part 84 is provided with a diametrical slot 98 which is used to receive the blade of a screwdriver or a similar tool. By rotating the piston-shaped part with respect to the outer housing, an axial displacement of the piston-shaped part within the outer housing is achieved.
In order to prevent unintentional movement of the piston-shaped part due to vibration or impacts, the dielectric sleeve 86 is preferably extended and provided with an axial bore 100, which the thread the rod 92 firmly embraces. Additionally or alternatively, a friction ring 102 can be arranged in the thread of the inner electrode, which engages the thread of the rod 92.
Electrical contacts 106 and 108 are arranged at opposite ends of the balancing capacitor, which contacts with the outer housing 80 and with the metallic piston-shaped part 84 are electrically connected. The protruding parts of these contacts are used to attach the capacitor z. B. on the plate of a printed circuit or a similar component.
According to a preferred embodiment, the dielectric parts are made from polytetrafluoroethylene. The threaded rod 92 consists of hard plastic or a similar insulating material.
