Device for tensioning and closing band strapping
The invention relates to a device for tensioning strapping tapes and with closing devices for connecting the tape ends lying one above the other with a set of pliers.
Such devices are already known in various designs. In most of these tensioning and locking devices, the set of pliers is in the rest position in such a position that there is a slot above the base plate for inserting the tape and only engages over the tape ends during the actual closing movement. A problem with such devices is that the strapping tape can move a little transversely to its longitudinal direction during the tensioning process and thus partially out of the area of the closing elements, so that the two tape ends are no longer congruent on top of each other, making it difficult to connect the tapes properly or even made impossible. To prevent this disadvantage, it is known to install special tape holding devices in the clamping apparatus.
Since these should function reliably even with a slightly inclined position of the belt and with strong belt tension, they are very complicated and expensive, so that they make the device more expensive, are prone to failure and often have to be operated by separate handles or that they have to remove the device after the closing and the insertion of the tape into the tape channel.
The present invention is intended to create a device for tensioning and closing strap straps, which, dispensing with additional separate strap holding elements, prevents the strapping strap from being displaced transversely to its longitudinal direction during the tensioning process and ensures that the strap ends lie exactly one above the other in the area of the closure organs .
The invention is characterized in that the set of pliers protrudes astride the strap ends in the rest and tensioning position to align their superimposition, and height adjustment means are provided for the set of pliers in order to raise it to release the band channel for inserting the strapping.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a side view of the apparatus in the rest position,
Fig. 2 is a view of the apparatus with the tong pack raised;
Fig. 3 is a view of the apparatus from the opposite side in Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 is a section along the line A-A in Fig. 1,
Fig. 5 is a section through the apparatus along the line B-B in Fig. 2;
Fig. 6 is a detail of the pliers pack in the closed position.
The device is used to produce strapping around boxes or other packaging, the ends of the strap being held together by a sealing sleeve. The design of the tensioning and locking mechanism can be assumed to be known, for example from Swiss Patent No. 322 099 and is therefore not explained in detail here. The closing elements 1 together form what is known as the pliers package, which is held as a whole between guides 2 so as to be adjustable in height. A tensioning wheel 3 is rotatably mounted on the apparatus housing 4 and interacts with its outer surface with the strapping band lying on the base plate 7.
To raise this tensioning wheel 3, a rocker lever 8 is pressed upwards by hand - in the direction of arrow E - so that it comes to rest against the housing handle 6, whereby the tensioning wheel 3 is raised and a gap is formed for inserting the strapping. This movement of the rocker lever 5 also simultaneously lifts the entire set of pliers and moves it upwards via an angle lever 12 so far that a gap 10 is released in the area of the base plate for the lateral insertion of the strapping 13, as shown in FIGS 5 is shown.
The rocker arm 5 is pivotably mounted on the housing by a bolt 11 on which the tensioning roller 3 is seated at the same time. The angle lever 12 can be pivoted around a bolt 16. A roller 17 at the end of the outer end 19 rests against a screw head 20. outer end 19 rests against a screw head 20.
This screw penetrates the set of pliers and has the effect that when the rocker lever 5 is raised, the entire set of pliers is lifted.
The sealing sleeves 14 are located in the form of a stack 25 next to the pliers package 1 and, in the open state, are pushed individually into the pliers package as soon as the preceding closing process has been completed. After the strapping tape has been inserted into the gap 10, there is thus an open closure sleeve in the pliers package with an essentially U-shaped cross-sectional shape, as can be seen from FIGS. 4 and 5. After letting go of the rocker lever 5, the set of pliers together with the locking sleeve returns to the starting position shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, so that the two inclined legs of the locking sleeve 14 come to rest over the strap ends. Since the central web 15 is only as wide or slightly wider than the strapping band, the two straps lying one on top of the other are guided and centered through the open closure sleeve during tensioning.
By moving the tensioning lever 8 to and fro in the direction of the double arrow F, the strapping is tensioned. The transfer of the pivoting movement of the lever 8 to the tensioning roller 3 takes place via a ratchet with freewheel in one direction of rotation and a pawl in the other direction, so that the tension of the band is maintained when the lever 8 is retracted. When the desired tension of the band is achieved, the locking lever 9 is pivoted in the direction of arrow D, whereby the pliers are closed in a manner known per se and the joint parts assigned to the pliers pack assume the position shown in FIG.
The pliers package 1 causes the two legs of the closure sleeve 14 to bend around the two straps lying on top of one another and a deformation or notch of the closure sleeve, so that the strap ends are connected by this closure sleeve 14 so that they cannot move. At the end of the closing process, the end of the tape leading to the supply roll is cut off or at least notched, whereupon the closing lever 9 is pivoted back into its starting position.
A new closure sleeve is then pushed from the stack 25 into the pliers package by the lever 21.
To remove the apparatus from the finished strapping, the rocker lever 5 is pressed in the direction of arrow E. As a result, the tensioning wheel 3 lifts from the order ripening belt 13 and at the same time the closing elements 1 are raised so that they clear the gap 10 and the apparatus can be pulled away to the side.
Instead of the handset shown in the drawing, the drive for tensioning the strapping band and / or the closing of the closure sleeve could be done pneumatically, hydraulically or electrically.
The same principle is also conceivable for devices in which the connection of the strap ends is carried out without the use of closure sleeves or in which non-metallic closure straps are used. In the case of the apparatus which operate without closure sleeves, the set of pliers is designed in such a way that its shape assumes the same function as the closure sleeve in the embodiment described above.
