Verfahren zur Herstellung von PerHuorbenzoldigarbonsäuren Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Perfluorbenzoldicar- bonsäuren, insbesondere von 3,4,5,6-Tetrafluor- phthalsäure, und der Verwendung der letzteren zur Herstellung der Tetrafluoranthranilsäure.
Die Perfluorbenzoldicarbonsäuren, insbesondere die 3,4,5,6-Tetrafluor-phthalsäure, können als Aus gangsstoffe zur Herstellung einer Reihe von weiteren wichtigen Fluorverbindungen Verwendung finden, die als Zwischenprodukte, z. B. für die Gewinnung von Arzneimitteln, von Bedeutung sind.
Das erfindungsgemässe Verfahren ist dadurch ge kennzeichnet, dass man ein Bis-Trifluormethyl-tetra- fluorbenzol mit einer starken, oxydierenden Säure, z. B. rauchende Schwefelsäure, behandelt.
Die Herstellung der Tetrafluoranthranilsäure unter Verwendung der nach dem erfindungsgemässen Verfahren hergestellten Tetrafluorphthalsäure erfolgt durch Erhitzen der Säure, vorzugsweise beim Rück fluss mit Trifluoressigsäureanhydrid, Umsetzung des erhaltenen Phthalsäureanhydrids mit wässrigem Am moniak und Behandlung des gebildeten Phthalimids durch Hofmannschen Abbau unter Verwendung von Brom und wässriger Natronlauge.
Das als Ausgangsstoff verwendete Bis-Trifluor- methyl-tetrafluorbenzol der Formel C6F4(CF3)2 kann durch Fluorierung des entsprechenden Xylols in Gegenwart eines Metallfluorids als Fluorüberträger, z. B. Kobalttrifluorid, erhalten werden.
<I>Beispiel</I> 6,4 Perfluor-o-xylol werden mit 4 cm3 20pro- zentigem Oleum bei 150 C während 12 Stunden in einem zugeschmolzenen Rohr geschüttelt. Nach Abkühlung in flüssiger Luft wird das Rohr geöffnet und der Inhalt in Eis gegossen. Hierauf wird die er- haltene Lösung alkalisch gemacht, mit Äther extra hiert und wieder angesäuert.
Die saure Lösung wird dann während 12 Stunden mit Äther extrahiert, der Auszug mit Holzkohle entfärbt, mit M9S04 ge trocknet und abgedampft. Es verbleibt ein weisser Rückstand von 5,8 g; Schmelzpunkt (Smp): <B>151</B> bis 153 C. Nach Umkristallisation aus o-Xylol ergeben sich 5,0 g Tetrafluorphthalsäure mit einem Smp. von 153-154 C.
Analyse, gefunden: C 40,3 % H 1,0 % F 31,6 %, berechnet für C8H2F4O4: C 40,3 % H 0,8 % F 31,9 %.

Einer gekühlten Lösung von 1,7 g Natrium hydroxyd und 1,3 g Brom in 10 cm3 Wasser werden 1,7 g fein gepulvertes Tetrafluorphthalimid zugesetzt. Dann setzt man noch schnell eine Lösung von 1,1g NaOH in 5 cm3 hinzu und erwärmt das Ganze während 1 Minute auf 80 C und kühlt hierauf auf 15 C ab. Nun wird die Lösung mit konzentrierter Salzsäure angesäuert, wobei 1,0 g Niederschlag mit einem Smp. von 135-139 C erhalten werden.
Er neute Fällung aus alkalischer Lösung und Umkristal- lisation aus Wasser ergeben 0,5 g 3,4,5,6-Tetra- fluoranthranilsäure mit einem Smp. von 141 bis 142 C.
