EMI0001.0028
in der Yl und Y2 die unter Formel I angegebene Be deutung haben, mit einem Amin der Formel 11I,
EMI0001.0032
in der A,
EMI0003.0069
in guter Ausbeute.
Färbebeispiele a) 2 Teile des gemäss Beispiel 5 erhaltenen fein gemahlenen Farbstoffes werden in 4000 Teilen Was ser dispergiert.

Process for the production of substituted dihydroxyphenylamino-anthraquinone dyes The present invention relates to a process for the production of substituted dihydroxyphenylamino-anthraquinone dyes.
It has been found that valuable substituted dihydroxy-phenylamino-anthraquinone dyes of the formula I which are sparingly soluble in water are obtained,
EMI0001.0008
in which of Yi and Y2 one Y is the hydroxyl group and the other Y is the nitro group, A is a phenylene radical which may contain non-acid dissociating substituents in water, Ri is hydrogen or a lower alkyl or lower hydroxyalkyl group,
R2 denotes a lower alkyl or lower hydroxyalkyl group or Ri and R2 together with the nitrogen atom denote the remainder of a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring by adding a dinitro-dihydroxy-anthraquinone of the formula II,
EMI0001.0028
in which Yl and Y2 have the meaning given under formula I, with an amine of formula 11I,
EMI0001.0032
in the A,
Ri and R2 have the meaning mentioned under formula I, are reacted at temperatures of 100-200 ° C. and, if appropriate, the nitro group symbolized by Yt or Y2 in formula I is reduced to the amino group.
As inert substituents, A can groups or atoms which are customary in dyes and do not dissociate acidic in water, for example lower alkyl groups, such as the methyl or ethyl group, or lower alkoxy groups, such as the methoxy or ethoxy group, or halogens such as Chlorine or bromine are contained. A is advantageously not further substituted.
If R1 and R2 are a lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group, it is, for example, the methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl or ss-hydroxyethyl group; if they represent together with the nitrogen atom a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic radical, they mean z.
B. an N-pyrrolidyl, N-piperidyl or N-morpholyl radical. Both R1 and R2 advantageously represent the methyl group.
Dinitro-dihydroxy-anthraquinones which can be used as starting materials according to the invention can be of the 1,5-dihydroxy-anthraquinone series or. belong to the 1,8-dihydroxy-anthraquinone series; mixtures of these isomers can often also advantageously be used in the process according to the invention. As the formula IH corresponding amines come men z. B. the primary or secondary lower alkyl or lower hydroxyalkylamines. z. B.
from methylamine, ethylamine, propylamine, isopropylamine, butylamine, B-hydroxyethylamine, dimethylamine or diethylamine, or from cyclic amines, such as amides of 2-, 3- or 4-aminobenzoic acid derived from piperidine or morpholine,
3- or 5-methyl-2-aminobenzoic acid, 2- or 6-methyl-3-aminobenzoic acid, 2- or 3-methyl-4-aminobenzoic acid, 5-chloro- or 5-bromo-2-aminobenzoic acid , 4-chloro-3-aminobenzoic acid, 3-chloro- or 3-bromo-4-aminobenzoic acid or 4-methoxy-3-aminobenzoic acid in question.
Examples include 2-aminobenzoic acid-methyl-, ethyl-, -dimethyl- or diethyl-amide, 3 aminobenzoic acid-methyl-, -ethyl-, propyl-, -isopropyl-, -butyl-, -dimethyl-, -diethyl- , dipropyl- or -dibutyl-amide, 4-aminobenzoic acid- methyl-, -ethyl-,
dimethyl or di (8-hydroxyethyl) amide, 3 aminobenzoic acid methyl ethyl or methyl isopropyl amide.
You will e.g. B. obtained by reacting the chlorides or bromides of the nitrobenzene carboxylic acids corresponding to the aminobenzoic acids with the desired amines and reducing the obtained nitro compounds to the corresponding amino compounds.
The reaction of the dinitro-dihydroxy-anthraquinones of the formula II with the amines of the formula III takes place with an excess of amine in the melt at 100 to 200 ° C., but advantageously in the presence of an inert organic boiling point at 120 to 200 ° C. Solvents, such as butanol, glycol monoethyl ether, dimethylformamide,
or preferably an optionally substituted hydrocarbon such as chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene and in particular nitrobenzene.
The new substituted dihydroxyphenylamino-anthraquinones of the formula I mostly crystallize from the reaction mixture and are obtained by filtration, diluting the mixture with water or removing the organic solvent by steam distillation.
They can be purified by recrystallization. If desired, the nitro group is reduced to the amino group, for example with glucose in an aqueous-alkaline solution or preferably with sodium sulfide in an aqueous or aqueous-organic medium, in particular in a mixture of water and pyridine.
In their pure state, the new dyes represent bronzing, crystalline, deeply colored bodies. They dissolve in hot organic solvents with a pure blue color.
The dyes according to the invention are suitable for dyeing organic hydrophobic fiber material from aqueous dispersion, for example for dyeing high molecular weight esters, in particular for dyeing esters of aromatic polycarboxylic acids with polyfunctional alcohols, such as polyglycol terephthalates such as terylene from Imperial Chemical Industries, Manchester,
Dacron from E. J. Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Wilmington, Delaware, USA, from Tergal der Rhodiaceta, Lyon, from Trevira from Farbwerke Hoechst, Frankfurt a / Main, from Terital from Rhodiatoce,
Milano or from Kodel from Eastman Chemicals Kodaks Ind., Kingsport, Tenn., USA.
The dyes can also be used for dyeing synthetic polyamide fibers, such as nylon from EJ Du Pont de Nemours & Co., Wilmington, Delaware, USA, or Perlon from Farbenfabri ken Bayer, Leverkusen, Germany, and also for dyeing paints and spinning pulps be used.
The dyeing of polyester fibers with aqueous dispersions of dyes according to the invention is preferably carried out at temperatures above 100 ° C. under pressure. Very good dyeings are also obtained if polyester fibers are impregnated with concentrated, aqueous dispersions of dyes according to the invention, the squeezed-off fabric is dried and then fixed at temperatures of 180 to 250.degree.
The coloring can, however, also be carried out at the boiling point of the water in the presence of color carriers such as phenylphenol, polychlorobenzene compounds or similar auxiliaries.
In individual cases, the drawability of the dyes can be further improved by mixing two or more anthraquinone dyes according to the invention or by mixing at least one according to the invention with an anthraquinone dye of a similar constitution.
The blue dyeings produced on polyester fibers are very good wet, sublimation and lightfast. Compared with known similar compounds, the new dyes have the advantage of better drawability on polyester fibers.
Particularly valuable in this regard are the compounds of the formula I in which one Y is the hydroxyl group, the other Y is the nitro group and R1 and R2 are each a methyl group and the benzene ring A is not further substituted.
The following examples illustrate the invention. Unless expressly stated otherwise, parts therein mean parts by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Parts by weight have the same relationship to parts by volume as g is to cm '.
Example 1 33 parts of 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitro-anthraquinone are mixed with 37.5 parts of 3-amino-benzoic acid-methylamide in 100 parts of nitrobenzene heated to 150-155 for two hours while passing nitrogen as a propellant gas and the water which has been split off is distilled off on the descending condenser. A blue solution is formed, from which the dye of the formula is formed on cooling
EMI0003.0001
crystallized out directly.
It is filtered off and recrystallized from 30 times the amount of pyridine. The product forms deep dark purple crystals with a melting point of 275-278. It dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid and in pyridine with a deep blue color.
The finely divided dye dyes polyester fibers from aqueous dispersion with the aid of o-phenyl-phenol as a carrier in very real clear blue tones. The dyeings produced on terephthalic acid polyglycol ester fibers are outstandingly fast to sublimation.
Instead of in nitrobenzene, the condensation can also be carried out in 1000 parts of ethylene glycol monoethyl ether by refluxing for 10 hours, the dye also crystallizing out directly when it is cold.
Example 2 33 parts of 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitro-anthraquinone and 45 parts of 3-amino-benzoic acid-dimethylamide are heated in 125 parts of nitrobenzene at 160-165 for 1 hour until chromatographically no more starting material can be detected. At the same time, the separated water is distilled off in a stream of nitrogen. The dyestuff of the formula separates from the dark blue solution formed when it cools
EMI0003.0021
in crystallized form. The separation can be completed by diluting with methanol.
Recrystallized from pyridine, the product melts at 230-231 '. It dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid and in pyridine with a reddish blue color. Milled with lignin sulfonate and a wetting agent, for example sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, the dye dyes polyglycol terephthalate fibers from aqueous dispersion in pure, reddish blue tones.
The colorations are very fast to light and sublimation. The dyeings on acetate silk are extremely resistant to emissions. Example 3 33 parts of 1,8-dihydroxy-4,5-dinitro-anthraquinone and 45 parts of 3-amino-benzoic acid-dimethylamide are heated to 155-160 in 100 parts of nitrobenzene under a stream of nitrogen Source material is more detectable. At the same time, the split off water is distilled off. When the cooled blue solution is diluted with methanol, the dye of the formula separates
EMI0003.0040
as dark blue crystal powder.
The dye dissolves in sulfuric acid and in pyridine with a blue color. It dyes polyester fibers from an aqueous dispersion in blue, sublimation-fast tones.
Instead of in nitrobenzene, the condensation can also be carried out in 900 parts of butanol.
If the condensation is carried out instead of 33 parts of 1,8-dihydroxy-4,5-dinitro-anthraquinone with 33 parts of a mixture of 16.5 parts of 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitro-anthraquinone and 16.5 parts 1,8-dihydroxy-4,5-dinitro-anthraquinone, a dye with very similar properties is obtained.
Example 4 44.7 parts of the dye described in Example 2 are added at 95 to the solution of 48 parts of crystallized sodium sulfide and heated to 95-98 until the nitro body is completely converted into the amino dye formula
EMI0003.0054
has converted. Recrystallized from pyridine, the new dye melts at 238-240. It dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a green-blue color, in pyridine with a neutral blue color.
The finely divided dye dyes terephthalic acid polyglycol ester fibers from an aqueous dispersion in clear, neutral blue tones with excellent sublimation fastness.
Example 5 33 parts of 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitro-anthraquinone and 45 parts of 4-amino-benzoic acid-dimethylamide are heated to 180-185 in 200 parts of nitrobenzene while passing nitrogen through More water is distilled off and a blue solution has formed. The nitrobenzene is then driven off with steam, and the residue is boiled out with alcohol. The dye of the formula is obtained
EMI0003.0069
in good yield. It can be obtained in pure form by recrystallization from pyridine.
It dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid and in pyridine with a blue color. As a finely divided aqueous dispersion, it dyes terephthalic acid polyglycol ester fibers in beautiful, pure blue tones with good light and sublimation fastness.
If, instead of 33 parts of 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitro-anthraquinone, just as many parts of a mixture of 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitro and 1,8-dihydroxy-4,5-dinitro anthraquinone, so he thinks a dye of a slightly greener shade of blue.
A useful mixture of such starting materials is prepared, for example, as follows: Anthraquinone is nitrated, the polynitroanthraquinone is converted into the mixture of the corresponding diphenoxyanthraquinones with the aid of potassium hydroxide and phenol, further nitrated and the phenoxy groups are saponified to hydroxyl groups 1,8-dihydroxy-4,5-dinitro-anthraquinone existing mixture is obtained.
Coloring examples a) 2 parts of the finely ground dye obtained in Example 5 are dispersed in 4000 parts of water. 12 parts of the sodium salt of o-phenylphenol and 12 parts of diammonium phosphate are added to this suspension, and 100 parts of a terephthalic acid polyglycol ester fabric are dyed for 1/2 hours at 95-98. The dye is rinsed and washed thoroughly with very dilute sodium hydroxide solution containing dodecyl polyglycol ether as a dispersant.
A light, wet and sublimation-fast blue coloration is obtained.
Instead of 2 parts of the dye according to Example 5, the dye is colored with a mixture of 1 part of dye according to Example 4 and 1 part of the dye of the formula
EMI0004.0041
in this way, a pure blue coloration fast to sublimation is obtained on terephthalic acid polyglycol ester fibers.
The dyeing of this dye mixture on acetate silk is outstandingly smoke-resistant, that on cellulose triacetate is extremely resistant to sublimation.
b) 2 parts of the finely ground dye obtained in Example 2 are suspended in 4,000 parts of water which contains two parts of the sodium salt of the condensation product of naphthalene-2-sulfonic acid with formaldehyde as a dispersant. The pH of the dyebath is adjusted to 6.5 using acetic acid.
100 parts of polyglycol terephthalic acid fabric are then poured in at 40, heated to 140 in the autoclave within 15 minutes and kept at this temperature for 3/4 hours. The dye is rinsed with water and soaped. This gives a clear blue coloration which is extremely fast to light, wet and sublimation.
