Description
A method of closing a slot in a masonry structure The present invention relates to a process for closing a slot in a masonry structure.
This method is characterized by the fact that a series of holes is drilled in said structure, in line with said slot, engages a tube in each of said holes, blocks the entrance to said holes, seals the slot on the surface of the structure, using a joint forming product, then injects under pressure, into said tubes, a sealing product which creeps into the slot and closes it.
The drawing illustrates, by way of example, an embodiment of the method according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view, in vertical section, of part of a concrete wall having a slot.
Fig. 2 is a vertical cross section of a detail of this wall, on an enlarged scale, and FIG. 3 is a cross section of the wall, marrying the slot.
The wall shown, made of concrete, is designated by 1, and the slot to be closed by 2.
The sealing process consists in drilling in the wall, in line with said slot, a series of blind holes 3, with a diameter of 10 mm for example, step by step, at a distance substantially equal to the thickness of the Wall ; the depth of each hole 3 corresponds approximately to half the thickness of the wall.
A metal tube 4, for example copper, slightly projecting from the hole, the diameter of which will be of the order of 6 mm is engaged in each hole 3. Each tube 4 passes through a cork stopper 5 pledged in the hole 3 to a sufficient depth so that there remains, at the entrance of the hole, a space which is plugged using a sealing product. , for example a mortar 6 mixed with epoxy resin.
The slot 2 is then sealed superficially by means of a bituminous seal 7.
After leaving this seal 7, as well as the plugs 6, to solidify for at least 24 hours, each tube 4 is successively injected, under pressure, with a sealing binder, for example based on epoxy resin, designated by 8 in fig. 3. The injection machine has not been shown, only the end of a flexible injection pipe 9 having been shown in FIG. 3, connected to one of the tubes 4.
After filling the hole 3, the sealing material creeps into the slot 2. The injection continues until the sealing material 8 enters the next hole 3 and exits through the tube 4 corresponding. The tube 4 in which the injection has just been carried out is then sealed by means of a cork stopper 10 and the same operation is carried out in the following tube. This is done step by step until all of the slot 2 is filled with sealing material 8.
The solidification is then allowed to take place for the necessary time, which may last several days, depending on the ambient temperature, then the tubes 4 are cut flush with the wall and the joint 7 is ground in such a way that the wall hardly bears no more traces of the crack.
As a variant, it will be possible to carry out the injection under pressure into several tubes 4 simultaneously.
