Filter
filter
The patent relates to a filter with action in only one direction of flow and a use of this filter.
It is well known that every filter opposes a certain resistance to the flow. This resistance is unavoidable in order to produce a filter effect.
The object of the invention is to create a filter which is effective in only one direction of flow and which has a lower resistance for the opposite direction of flow.
For this purpose, the filter body of the filter according to the invention forms the closure piece or a continuous part of the closure piece of a check valve. In this filter, the filter body forming the closure piece or a continuous part of the same is pressed against the seat of the check valve when there is a flow in one direction, so that the fluid has to pass through the filter body and is filtered while the flow is in the opposite direction The closure piece formed entirely or partially by the filter body is lifted from its seat, so that a significantly lower resistance results than when flowing through the filter body.
According to the invention, this filter is to be used for fluid that flows back and forth and carries foreign matter in only one direction, in particular for the flow between the cylinder space, which is opposite the working space of the cylinder of a single-acting cylinder-piston unit, and the outside air and flows here. The cylinder-piston unit can, for example, belong to a single-acting piston machine or a single-acting servomotor, the piston of which is subject to the action of the load driving it and a spring acting in the opposite direction.
The piston-cylinder unit can also have a spring which acts on the piston to reduce the size of the working space in order to put a fluid under pressure in it.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the filter according to the invention and its use according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a Zylin der¯Kolben unit, whose cylinder space opposite the working space is connected to the outside air by a filter, which acts only when the flow leading into this cylinder space.
FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1
A piston 2 with a piston rod 3 is displaceable in a cylinder 1. On both sides of the piston 2, the working chamber 4 and a cylinder chamber 5 lie opposite one another. The piston rod 3 is passed through the cylinder cover 6 of the cylinder space 5 in an airtight manner, so that no foreign bodies can get into the cylinder space 5 when the piston moves in the sense of enlarging the space 5. So that the air pressure in the room 5 can adapt to the atmospheric pressure, so that the movement of the piston 2 is not impeded by compression and dilatation of the air in the room 5, this room is connected to the outside air.
This connection contains a filter with a filter body 7, which prevents foreign bodies from entering the cylinder chamber 5 together with the air that is sucked in, where they would lead to wear of the cylinder 1, the piston 2, the piston rod 3 and their passage through the cylinder cover 6 .
The filter body 7 forms the closing piece of a check valve, the seat of which is denoted by 8. It is made of sintered metal, has the shape of a deep plate with a flat edge and is arranged within a housing cap 10 provided with passage openings 9. A helical spring 11 (not shown in FIG. 2) is inserted under pressure between the housing cap 10 and the edge of the filter body 7 and presses it against the seat 8. The filter body 7 is in one by means of four projections 12 protruding radially at its edge cylindrical guide 13 axially displaceable. guided. When the filter body 7 is pressed against the seat 8, its edge rests closely against it.
However, if the filter body is lifted from the seat 8, four passages are formed between the guide 13, the edge of the filter body 7 and two projections 12 in front, the flow resistance of which is significantly smaller than the flow resistance of the porous filter body 7.
When the piston 2 executes a suction stroke with respect to the cylinder space 5, outside air is sucked through the passages 9 and the filter body 7 into this cylinder space. The filter body 7 is pressed against its seat 8 by the spring 11 and the air flow supports the action of the spring 11. The air that is sucked into the cylinder chamber 5 is cleaned of foreign bodies by the filter body 7, which are on the outside of the filter body 7 be knocked down. The flow resistance of the filter acts as a movement resistance of the piston 2.
When the piston 2 executes a compression stroke with respect to the cylinder space 5, the pressure in this space rises and the compressed air flows through the filter body 7 and the passages 9 into the open air, removing the foreign bodies that were on the outside of the filter body 7 during the suction stroke knocked down, blows away. As soon as the pressure has reached a certain level, the filter body 7 is lifted from its seat 8 against the action of the spring 11 and the air passes through the guide channel 13 now formed between the edge d of the filter body 7 and the guide channel 13 (through the projections 12 divided into four parts) annular gap and the passages 9 to the outside. Because the flow resistance of this annular gap is small, as explained above, the movement resistance of the piston caused by it is also low.
A filter effect is no longer available, but this is neither necessary nor desirable; because the expelled air was already filtered when it was sucked in, and - if it should still contain foreign bodies - it would be highly undesirable to hold it back on the inside of the filter body, where it would be conveyed again into the cylinder chamber 5 on the next suction stroke.
The filter body can either consist of a piece of porous material, as shown, or be provided with a solid, non-porous ring.
In the latter case, the filter body forms a continuous part of the closure piece.
The filter described also acts as an acoustic filter (silencer), due to its cavities and passage and outlet openings with suitable dimensions as a so-called resonance silencer, and especially when the filter body sits on its seat, also as an absorption filter with acoustic friction damping. If the filter body is lifted from its seat, it causes a damping of the cavities adjacent to it.
