Footrest Since the height of a table is fixed, especially if it is a work table: it is well known that the seat height of a person is adjusted to the height of the table and is not measured according to the person. For this reason, a footrest is an absolutely necessary aid to avoid back pain for a person who is not the same size as the one
for which the height of the table was intended.
If two people of different sizes want to adjust their seat height to the fixed height of the table, the smaller person will probably raise their chair in order to be able to take a comfortable working position and the larger person will probably lower the chair to achieve the same purpose. If the latter adjustment is not carried out, the taller person will have to lean over the table.
In the above-mentioned case, the smaller person winds up sitting too high to have an anatomically good sitting position. In order to be able to reach the floor with their feet, this person would have to move their pelvis towards the table, but this would mean that they would be sweet on the vertebrae. In addition, the edge of the chair would press against the thighs. A person: who has to hold out in this position for a long time would soon have backache. To avoid this disadvantage, it is possible either to put the table down or to use a footrest.
The footrests known up to now have a fixed height and therefore cannot remedy this disadvantage for everyone.
A footrest of 450 X 300 mm would provide enough space for the feet, but would be very tight. But the feet really need a footrest of 550 X 650 mm. Another important requirement is that the angle of the footrest against the floor can be adjusted. The need to be able to change this angle is due to the fact that each person requires a different comfortable posture.
The footrest according to the invention, consisting of a plate and two or more support devices attached perpendicular to the plate, each of the mentioned support devices having a support surface facing the floor, is characterized in that the support surfaces of the plate supports are designed so that the plate through : The pressure called up by the foot can be tilted around a tilt line in at least two different positions.
Some embodiments of the invention who the following with reference to: the drawing on which the footrest is partially shown in perspective and partially laterally described.
Fig. 1-2 show a footrest with solid walls that serve as a lower part.
Fig. 4-6 show a footrest, the lower part of which is made of flat iron and the like, and Fig.7-9 illustrate a footrest, made in one piece and which has no front edges.
In all the examples described, the plate that supports the foot is marked with 1. The footrest is rectangular, which means that the plate 1 has the same shape, and in the figures, the longer side is directed towards the body of the seated person. The longer side is provided with a facing edge 2, which protrudes over the surface of the plate.
The two shorter sides of the footrest have walls 3 which are made in such a way that the edge that touches the floor (support edge) consists of two straight parts a,
b and thus form an angle of 30. The first part a runs in Fig. 1 and. 2 parallel to the floor and to the surface of the plate 1 and the second part b bil det the above-mentioned angle.
Due to this shape of the walls 3, the footrest can be tilted into two fixed positions by the pressure of the foot, namely that shown in Fig. 2, with the first part a running parallel to the floor and the one shown in Fig. 3, with the second part b, lying firmly on the floor.
The stops 4 provided, which should expediently consist of rubber, serve to dampen the setting from the position shown in FIG. 2 to that of FIG. 3.
The imaginary line between the two parts a and b on the corner edge of the wall 3 is referred to as the tilt line V and this line V is at a distance from an imaginary center line C of the Plate 1 (see Fig. 2). These lines can also coincide,
or the tilt line V can fall exactly below or close to the equilibrium point. In Fig. 2 be found this tilt line V to the right of the center line and the equilibrium point.
In the footrest according to Fig. 4-6, the Be ten walls are replaced by two shaped flat iron; the given shape is almost identical to wall 3 according to FIGS. 1-3. The two iron bars 5 are attached to the corners of the plate 1 by hooks 6. The hooks can be replaced by other fasteners at will. It is also possible to attach one or two additional iron rods 5 between the two iron rods mentioned, thereby increasing the stability of the footrest.
As a result, the process of changing the position caused by the pressure of the foot remains the same as previously described.
The footrest described according to FIG. 4-6 consists of only three parts, namely: the plate 1, with or without stops, and two shaped flat irons 5, or the like, with hooks 6 or other fastening means . This embodiment is very suitable for mass production.
The footrest according to Fig. 7-9 is made in one piece. The plate 1, the walls 3 and the raised edges 2 are pressed or molded from plastic, sheet metal or fournier wood. On the plate 1, on which the feet are placed, a pad 9. Made of rubber, plastic or similar material can be attached.
The front of the footrest is completely free and without any supporting walls. In FIGS. 8 and 9, a dashed line 10 illustrates that the second part: the edge can be designed to be curved.
The invention is of course not limited to the exemplary embodiments mentioned. So it is e.g. B. possible to construct the footrest so that it can be tilted into three or more positions; can.
