Fig. 1 zeigt die an sich bekannte Messvorrichtung.
Device for dosing liquid metals flowing through a pipe
The metering device for the amount of the cast metal is essential for the trouble-free operation of automatic casting devices, as they are currently built primarily for light metal and zinc die-casting. This dosing device must be simple and robust, work safely and it must not be expensive to set up, maintain and operate.
Various methods are known to carry out this dosage. For example, it is possible to weigh the vessels or molds into which the metal is poured from the pouring device during pouring and to interrupt the pouring process when a certain weight is reached. The application of this process is complex and, moreover, very imprecise, because the vessels or molds normally weigh a multiple of the metal cast into them. It would also be possible to interrupt the pouring process after certain times while the outflow speed of the metal remains the same and thereby dose. This method is also very complex, because the outflow speed, which originally depends on the fill level of the storage container, can only be kept constant with a complicated device.
The device for metering liquid metal according to the invention avoids all these disadvantages.
The invention relates to a device for metering liquid metals flowing through a pipe, in particular when casting them. It is characterized by the use of an electrodynamic measuring device to record the flow rate of conductive liquids in a measuring tube and display the same as an electrical variable in such a way that the electrical variable proportional to the flow rate is fed to an integrator, which causes the flow to be interrupted as soon as the time integral the measured variable has reached a predetermined value.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 of the drawing
Fig. 1 shows the measuring device known per se.
Liquid metal 2 flows through a heat-resistant, electrically insulating tube 1. The field of a magnet 3, which can be a permanent or electromagnet, penetrates the tube 1 and the liquid metal 2. Electrodes 4 are passed through the tube wall, which are connected to the liquid Metal are in conductive connection. Under the influence of the magnetic field built up by the magnet 3, a voltage is generated at the electrodes 4 which is proportional to the flow rate of the liquid metal.
In Fig. 2, the entire device for metering liquid metals is shown schematically. From a reservoir 5 is by means of a pressure conveying device, for. B. a pump 6, preferably a centrifugal pump, the liquid metal 2 is pressed through a tube 7 which opens into a vessel 8, preferably a casting mold. An electromagnetic measuring device 9 according to FIG. 1 lies in the course of the pipe 7. The measured value is fed to a control device via a line 10. This consists of an amplifier 11 and a device 12 which integrates this measured value over time. When the integral has reached a certain setpoint value, the device 12 influences a relay 13 which stops the drive device of the pump 6, in the example a compressed air motor 15, by blocking the compressed air supply by means of the valve 14.
The conveyance of the liquid metal is thus interrupted. Because the tube cross section of the measuring tube 1 is constant within the measuring range, the measured voltage of the electromagnetic measuring device is not only proportional to the flow rate of the liquid metal, but also proportional to the product of the flow rate and the tube cross section, i.e. H. the flow rate in the unit of time.
The integral of the measured value over time is therefore a measure of the total amount of metal that has flowed through.
The magnetic field can be a direct or alternating field, depending on the structure of the overall system with regard to external voltages. If an alternating field is used, there are easier ways of increasing the alternating voltage generated. As an integrator, for. For example, a capacitor can also be used, which is charged via a quadrupole terminal that amplifies the measured variable and, if necessary, rectifies it, and which ensures in a known manner that the charging current is always proportional to the measured variable taken from device 9. After a certain integral value has been reached, the integrator activates a contact and thus triggers an electrical impulse that brings the metal feed to a standstill and causes the integrator to be returned to its starting position.
The interruption of the delivery can also take place in such a way that the compressed air is only throttled through the valve 14 to such an extent that no more liquid metal flows out of the pipe, i.e. the pump still exerts such a high pressure on the liquid metal that it does not flow back into the storage container.
The storage container can also be designed as a gas-tight sealed container, which is connected to a device for conveying the melt by means of compressed gas, which is controlled analogously - as described above.
