Sliding electrical contact device, in particular for a compressed gas circuit breaker In general, in electrical equipment, and in particular in circuit breakers, we look for the contacts with which the moving part cooperates (sliding contact and contact on which the circuit closes) the following characteristics - allow the passage of a high permanent current, - withstand a large short-circuit current for several seconds, - withstand without pitting the peak value corresponding to a current short-circuit, - have reduced dimensions and friction.
In addition, the contact device on which the closing and opening of the circuit takes place must allow these to be done without matting or mechanical rebounding and without excessive deterioration as a result of pre-initiation arcs on closing or arcs of pure neck at the opening.
The present invention makes it possible to meet the criteria set out above. It relates to a sliding electrical contact device, in particular for a compressed gas circuit breaker, comprising two concentric conductive tubes sliding relative to each other and electrically connected by a sliding contact member, characterized in that said member contact is formed by at least one elastic conductive tape folded so as to include a large number of folds ensuring multiple points of contact between each tape and each of the conductive tubes.
Advantageously, a certain crushing of the tape (s), after positioning between the tubes, can ensure the desired contact pressure.
An embodiment of the invention will be described below, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of part of an interrupting chamber of a circuit breaker provided with a sliding contact device and in which the arc is extinguished by means of a pressurized fluid.
Fig. 2 is a cross section of the sliding contact member, according to ad of FIG. 1.
The contact device shown is located inside an insulating tube 1 forming an interrupting chamber filled with a pressurized fluid, for example compressed air, and comprises a fixed hollow tube 3 electrically connected with the outlet. circuit breaker current, not shown here. At the other end of this tube is provided a gas discharge valve, not shown here.
A conductive cylindrical movable part 6, of the same axis as the tube 3 and external to the latter, is integral with the drive member of the movable part, a member which may be constituted for example by an operating piston.
The electrical connection between the mobile part 6 and the circuit breaker socket is made through the tube 3, using a sliding contact member 7.
The sliding contact member 7 may include one or more conductive, elastic, accordion-folded tapes such as 9, 10, 11 .., These tapes are folded with a fairly small pitch, wound around a circumference between the tube 3. and the movable part 6 as shown in FIG. 2 and embedded in grooves made either in the mobile part 6 as shown in FIG. 1, or alternatively in the fixed part 3.
Each fold of the ribbons 9 thus connects the outer surface of the part 3 to the inner surface of the part 6 by two short paths made of good conductive metal. The passage of the current between the parts 3 and 6 is thus divided into a large number of current streams thanks to the high number of folds. For a given section of the elastic conductive tape 9 and for limiting current densities, the permanent current and the short-circuit current withstood for a short time are substantially proportional to the number of current flow paths and can thus be very high .
The large number of contact points distributed over all the outer perimeters of part 3 and inside of part 6 makes it possible to withstand a high peak value of the short-circuit current since the latter is substantially proportional to the number of contact points, while by adopting a reduced unit pressure of the bands on parts 3 and 6. This low unit pressure reduces friction and wear of the surfaces.
To obtain both low contact resistances insensitive to oxidation between parts 3 and 6 and the tapes 9, 10, 11, a low ohmic resistance of the tapes themselves and good conservation over time of the The elasticity of the tapes despite the heating of the contacts, can usefully ment for the tapes 9, 10, 11 strips of trimetal material.
The two outer faces of the tape are made of a metal with very low contact resistance and not very sensitive to oxidation, such as pure silver for example, and the central strip by a material that is fairly good conductor and retains its elasticity at temperatures. reached when a short-circuit follows the permanent operating mode. A copper alloy with a high copper content, such as chromium copper, can be used for this purpose, this alloy preferably being used with rolled copper or phos phorous bronze.
This type of contact withstands high currents in steady state and in short circuit with reduced bulk, weight of metal and reduced friction. Its low heating at large currents makes it possible to avoid increasing the diameters of the contact tubes. It is also very economical because it can be assembled quickly with simple tools, formed of a removable inlet cone, without requiring any drilling, soldering or screws.
This type of contact can be used in general in any switchgear comprising a sliding mobile part, whether it is a circuit breaker of any type, a load break switch or a disconnector. It can also be used in installations comprising a passage of current between cylindrical tubes of the same axis, for example between expansion joints of busbars or rigid electrical pipes of any kind.
