Grössten teils erhält man jedoch Gemische.
Nach beendigter Kupplung wird der Disazofarbstoff mit Natronlauge alkalisch gestellt und bei einem pH-Wert von 9,5-10 die Diazover- bindung aus 223 Teilen (1 Mol) 1 Naphthylamin-4- sulfonsäure gekuppelt;

where n stands for the number 1 or 2, m, p and q for the number 1, 2 or 3, the sum m + (p-1) + (q-1) = 3 being, a a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom ,
an optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy group, Y a hydrogen atom or the sulfonic acid group, and R denotes the remainder of any diazo component, and the nuclei A and / or B can carry substituents with the exception of sulfonic acid groups, characterized in that

clutch. Preferred dyes are obtained when the nuclei A and / or B of the amine of the formula (II) contain at least one carboxyl group.
Residues of any diazo components are, for example: Diazo compounds of optionally substituted aminobenzenes, aminonaphthalenes, Anünohydroxynaphthalen, aminonaphthalenesulfonic acids, aminohydroxynaphthalenesulfonic acids and optionally further substituted aminonaphthalines, z. B.
Chlorine, bromine, arylamino, alkylamino, substituted aminonaphthalenes; however, it is also possible to use those diazo components which already have an azo group ..
The aminobenzenes are, for. B. Mentioned: halogen, (chlorine, bromine), nitro, sulfonic acid, carboxyl, alkyl, such as methyl, ethyl, etc., alkoxy, such as methoxy, ethoxy, optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy, sulfonamide, alkylsulfonamide, etc.
If derivatives of aminodiphenylcarboxylic acids are used as compounds of the formula (II), the coupling of the corresponding diazo compound with a compound of the formula (II) can be carried out in an acidic or alkaline medium.
If you couple in an acidic medium, for example in an acetic acid medium, at pH values between 2 to 6, preferably at pH 4 to 5, and at temperatures between -10 and +30 C, preferably between 0 and +15 C, then take effect such compounds are preferably in the 2-position of the 1,3-dihydroxybenzene nucleus.
It has been found that, under the given conditions, hardly more than 1 mol of such a derivative of the formula (II) can be coupled to 1 mol of a compound of the formula (III).
One or two moles of a compound of the formula (II) which contains at least one carboxyl group or one or two moles of a compound of the formula N = N-R can then be coupled to 1 mole of the disazo dye thus obtained.
If, on the other hand, a derivative of an aminodiphenylcarboxylic acid of the formula (1I) is coupled to a compound of the formula (III) in an alkaline medium, the corresponding diazo compounds engage in the 2- or 4-position of the 1,3-dihydroxybenzene nucleus or in the 7-position of the naphthalene nucleus.
For the most part, however, you get mixtures. Under alkaline conditions, one, two or three moles of a derivative of an aminodiphenylcarboxylic acid or one or two moles of a compound of the formula -N = N -R can be coupled to 1 mole of a compound of the formula (III) in any order will.
These reactions are carried out at pH values between 7.5 to 12, preferably between 8.5 and 9.5 and at temperatures between -10 and +30 ° C., preferably between 0 and +10 ° C., likewise in an aqueous medium , optionally un ter the addition of organic solvents, such as. B. pyridine or pyridine base mixtures.
If aminodiphenylamine derivatives which do not carry a carboxyl group are used as compounds of the formula (II) in the present process, the coupling of the corresponding diazo compounds with a compound of the formula (III) can preferably be carried out in an acidic medium, for example acetic acid with advantage at pH values between 2 to 6, preferably at pH 4 to 5 and at temperatures between -10 and +30 C,
preferably between 0 to +15 C in an aqueous medium, possibly with the addition of organic solvents, such as. B. pyridine or pyridine base mixtures. If the conditions mentioned above are observed, such compounds preferably intervene in the 2-position of the 1,3-dihydroxybenzene nucleus.
It has been found that under the specified conditions hardly more than 1 mol of such a compound of the formula (II) can be coupled to 1 mol of a compound of the formula (III).
One or two moles of a compound of the formula (II) which contains at least one carboxyl group or one or two moles of a compound of the formula -N = N-R can then easily be coupled to 1 mole of the disazo dye thus obtained. These implementations are then. at pH values between 7.5 and 12, preferably between 8.5 and 9.5, and at temperatures between -10 and +30 C, preferably between 0 and +10 C,
carried out, just if in an aqueous medium, optionally with the addition of organic solvents, such as. B. pyridine or pyridine base mixtures. These connec tions then preferably intervene in the 4-position of the 1,3-dihydroxybenzene nucleus or in the 7-position of the naphthalene nucleus. For the most part, however, mixtures are obtained.
The new dyes are readily soluble in water, resistant to acids and alkalis, and are characterized and produced by a high affinity for leather of various tannings, in particular combined tanned leather. pure red to yellowish dark brown tones.
If, in the present process, nitro derivatives of aminodiphenylamine-carboxylic acids are used as compounds of the formula (II), particularly valuable yellowish-tinged dark brown dyes can be obtained which have excellent dyeing properties on leather. The dyes obtained are therefore preferably used for dyeing and printing leather.
The dyes obtained are characterized by good leveling power, nuance constancy on leathers of different tanning, good dye build-up in neutral to weakly acidic dyebaths, very good acid and alkali fastness and resistance, good sanding fastness on chrome suede leather, very good fastness to migration on polyvinyl chloride and crepe gum; very good formaldehyde fastness, very good ironing fastness and good lightfastness.
In the following examples, the parts are parts by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Example 1 319 (1 mol) parts of 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalin-3,6-disulfonic acid are dianotized in the usual way and added to 110 parts (once) 1,3-dihydroxy benzene coupled in a caustic solution.
318 (1 mol) parts of 4-amino-2 ', 4'-dinitro-6'-carbo-oxy-diphenylamine are dianoed in the usual manner with 69 parts of sodium nitrite in hydrochloric acid solution and the diazo compound at a pH of 10 coupled to the monoazo dye.
After the coupling is complete, the dark green disazo dye is coupled with a further 636 parts (2 mol) of 4-amino 2 ', 4'-dinitro-6'-carboxy-diphenylamine diazo compound, the pH being adjusted by adding dropwise sodium hydroxide solution the clutch is kept at 8.5. When the coupling is complete, sodium chloride is added to the dye and the pH is adjusted to 7 by adding a little hydrochloric acid.
The dye is obtained as a dark brown powder, which dyes leather in dark yellow-brown shades. Example 2 The monoazo dye (1 mol) prepared in the same way as in Example 1 from dianotated 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid and 1,3-dihydroxybenzene are dissolved in soda alkaline solution at pH 10.5 298 parts (1 mol)
the diazo compound from 4-amino-4'-nitrodiphenylamine-2'-sulfonamide coupled. After coupling has ended, 138 parts (1 mol) of the diazo compound from p-nitroaniline are coupled onto the dark green disazo dye formed in an acetic acid solution. The trisazo dye thus obtained is salted out with common salt. It is a black powder that dissolves in water with a dark olive color and dyes leather in olive, muted tones.
Example 3 The monoazo dye (1 mol) prepared in the same way as in Example 1 from dianotated 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid and 1,3-dihydroxybenzene are used in acetic acid solution 274 parts (1 mol) of the diazo compound from 4-amino-2'-4'-dinitro-diphenylamine coupled. After the coupling has ended, the dye is precipitated with sodium chloride. When dry, it is a red-brown powder that dyes leather in dark red-brown tones.
Example 4 319 parts (1 mol) of 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid are di anotized in the usual way and to 110 parts (1 mol) of 1,3 dihydroxy benzene coupled in a caustic solution.
A diazo compound is coupled out onto the monoazo dye formed. 274 parts (1 mol) of 4-amino, 2 ', 4'-dinitro-diphenylamine at a pH of 4-5.
After coupling is complete, the disazo dye is made alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution and the diazo compound is coupled from 446 parts (2 mol) of 1-naphthylamine-4-sulfonic acid at a pH of 9.5-10.
The resulting tetrakisazo dye is completely separated off with common salt. In the dried state it is a dark brown powder which dyes leather in deep dark brown shades of very good fastness properties. Example 5 319 parts of 1-amino-8-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid are dianotized in the customary manner and coupled to 110 parts of 1,3-dihydroxybenzene in a caustic solution.
A diazo compound of 274 parts (1 mol) of 4-amino-2 ', 4'-dinitro-diphenylamine is coupled to the monoazo dye formed at a pH of 4-5.
After coupling has ended, the disazo dye is made alkaline with sodium hydroxide solution and the diazo compound is coupled from 223 parts (1 mol) of 1-naphthylamine-4-sulfonic acid at a pH of 9.5-10;
When the coupling is complete, the diazo compound from 309 parts (1 mol) of 4-amino-4'-nitro-2'-sulfo-diphenylamine is slowly added at the same pH value of 9.5-10 and when the coupling is complete the tetrakisazo dye deposited with common salt.
When dry, the dye is a black-brown powder that dyes leather in dark yellow-brown tones.
In the following Table 1, other dyes are identified as they can be obtained according to the information in Examples 3, 4 and 5. The basic structure of the dyes of the formula (III) is listed in column A and the other components which are suitable for the synthesis of the dyes of the formula (I) are listed in columns B, C and D.
Column E denotes the shade of the dyeing on leather. Table 1

Treated in the same bath with 2 parts of an anionic Fettlickem based on sulfonated oil for a further 30 minutes and the leather is dried and dressed in the usual way. A leather which is very evenly colored and has a dark yellow-brown shade is obtained.
Dyeing example B 100 parts of calf suede are drummed up with 1000 parts of water and 2 parts of ammonia in a dyeing drum for 4 hours and then dyed in a fresh bath.
500 parts of water of 65, 2 parts of ammonia, 10 parts of the dissolved, described under Example 2, dye are dyed together with the previously milled calf leather for 1 hour and 30 minutes in the dyeing drum. To exhaust the dyebath, 4 parts of formic acid (85%) are slowly added and dyeing is continued until the dye is completely fixed.
The suede leather, rinsed, dried and trimmed in the customary manner, produces an olive-colored, very level suede after sanding the suede side.
Dyeing Example C 100 parts of chrome lambskin, 10 parts of the dye obtained in Example 3 are drummed for 45 minutes in a liquor of 1000 parts of water and 1.5 parts of an anionic spermacet oil emulsion and the dye is slowly washed Addition of 5 parts. Formic acid (85%)
fixed on the leather for 30 minutes. After the usual drying and dressing, a leather in a dark red-brown shade of good levelness is obtained.
Dyeing example D A solution of 20 parts of the dye prepared according to Example 4 in 847 parts of water, 150 parts of ethyl glycol and 3 parts of formic acid (85%) is sprayed, plushed or poured onto the grain side of a sanded, combined tanned cowhide leather.
The leather is dried under mild conditions. In this way, a level surface coloring is obtained, which can serve as a primer for later finishing with pigment covering colors and synthetic resin binders.
