Motor pump The subject of the invention is a motor pump comprising a motor and a pump connected by a coupling device with permanent magnets comprising two coaxial rotors separated from each other by a sealed wall made of non-magnetic material, and each having an even number of poles of opposite polarities which, for a given relative angular position of the rotors, are located opposite each other.
The motor-driven pump according to the invention is characterized in that the poles of the driven inner rotor, which is enclosed in the sealed enclosure containing the pump impeller, are formed in a one-piece magnetized ring so that the poles of opposite polarities alternate with each other. its periphery and in that the poles of the external driving rotor are formed by the ends of the branches of individual U-shaped magnets arranged in a crown so that these ends are directed towards
the poles of the ring constituting the inner rotor.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the motor-driven pump which is the subject of the invention, as well as variants.
Fig. 1 is an axial section of a motor pump for accelerating the circulation of water in a central heating installation.
Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a similar section of a variant. Fig. 4 shows in axial section part of a variant of detail.
In this drawing, 1 represents the impeller of a centrifugal pump intended to accelerate the circulation of water in a central heating installation,: driven by an electric motor 2, external to a hermetic housing 7, 7a which surrounds the wall on all sides. impeller 1 and its shaft 3 and which comprises connections 4 and 5, respectively for the water inlet and outlet.
On the free end of the shaft 3 of the wheel 1 there is a drum comprising a ring 10 permanently magnetized and having several poles of opposite polarities which alternate cyclically along its periphery.
The drum which protrudes out of the pump casing 7, 7a is capped with a thin cap 6 of a non-magnetic material, said cap being connected in a sealed manner to the hermetic casing 7, 7a to complete this casing in a sealed casing around wheel 1 and its shaft 3.
The cap 6 is in turn covered with a bell 8 wedged end-to-end on the shaft 9 of the motor 2, which shaft is mounted on the outside of the sealed casing 7, 7a of the pump, in the extension of the shaft 3 of the latter, said bell 8 carrying permanent magnets 14 in the form of a U, the poles of which are directed towards those of the aforesaid drum.
The permanent magnets 14 of the bell 8 are made of a material of a different nature from that of the ring 10 of the drum in question. Preferably, for the magnets 14, which must have a very strong remanent induction, for example from 10,000 to 11,000 Gauss or more, a magnetic steel alloy based on iron is used,
cobalt, nickel, aluminum, copper and possibly titanium, such as for example Ticonal steel.
For the ring 10, which must above all exhibit a high coercive field, for example of 1500 Oer- steds or more and a heat-resistant remanent induction, a hard ferrite is advantageously used, in particular a barium oxide ferrite such as Ferroxdur I.
By the choice of magnetic materials in this way, considerable advantages are obtained.
Supposing that hitherto, for the permanent magnets of the two rotors of the coupling device, a steel of the Tico- nal type has been used with a coercive field of the order of only 800 Oersteds and that, for some reason whatever conch, for example by infiltration of an impulse, the impeller 1 of the pump is blocked so that the blades of the magnets of one rotor pass opposite the poles of the same polarity of the magnets of the other rotor,
the relatively weak coercive field of the permanent magnets cannot resist demagnetization by the very strong remanent induction of 10,000 Gauss of the magnets facing them, so that the magnets demagnetize each other and the coupling device definitively stalls.
Assuming that one would set the permanent magnets of the two rotors of the coupling device to a hard ferrite, demagnetization would no longer be to be feared, given the high coercive field of the ferrite, but the transmissible torque would be much reduced. as a result of the low remanent induction of the hard ferrites (approximately 2200 Gauss) and it would also be necessary, in order to obtain a coupling between the two rotors, for the air gap to be very small.
However, a small air gap is a considerable drawback for the motor pump in question, in which the capu chon 6 must separate the two rotors in the air gap without touching them, and in which it would, on the contrary, be very advantageous to have a certain space between the rotors and said cap to prevent impurities from blocking one of the rotors against the static cap and in which such a space would allow greater manufacturing tolerances and therefore reduce the cost of the assembly.
The magnetic coupling device described above avoids the aforementioned drawbacks. In fact, a large air gap can be obtained given that the large remanent induction of the magnets 14 enables the lines of force of these magnets to pass through such an air gap to close on the poles of the ring 10.
Moreover, the high coercive field, from 1600 to 1700 Oersteds, protects the poles of the ring 10 from demagnetization, and, on the other hand, their remanent induction of only 2200 Gauss is insufficient to cause demagnetization of the magnets 14.
The use of a hard ferrite to form the ring 10 housed in the sealed casing 7, 7a of a hot water heating pump is further advantageous because of the resistance of such a material to corrosion and to demagnetization by ambient heat, which is relatively high, because to the calories released by the heating water are added those released by friction in the bearing 18.
In order to ensure the coupling device maximum magnetic attachment between the blades of the permanent magnets of the type specified above, integral on the one hand with the motor rotor 8 and on the other hand with the driven rotor 1, the magnets are given 14 of the dimensions and, with respect to the ring 10, of the positions such, taking into account the air gap, that, for a determined angular position of the rotor 8 with respect to the ring 10, the centers N. and S @ ( fig. 3)
poles of each U-shaped permanent magnet 14 are at the ends of a diameter of a semicircle cl passing through the axes of the two adjacent poles SI, NI of the annular ring 10.
Assuming that the driven ring 10, the diameter of which is that shown in the drawing, has at its periphery twelve equidistant Si, Ni poles alternating in polarity the along its periphery , and that one wants to have between the ring 10 and the motor rotor 8 an air gap dl, it is possible to determine the dimensions of the magnets 14. in Ticonal and their location in the motor rotor 8 as follows.
We draw a line Il tangent to the periphery of ring 10 and equidistant from the two neighboring points Si and Ni, and, at the distance dl from the right h, a parallel l ..
The perpendicular bisector m between the points Si and NI intersects the line h at the point Pl which is the center of the circle cl passing through the points SI and NI.
This circle cl intersects the line h at the points N. and S on which the poles of a magnet 14 in Ticonal must be centered.
In fact, as for a Ticonal magnet in the shape of a U, the line of average magnetic force closes, from the center N., of one pole on the center S. of the other pole, following a half. circle, it is ensured, as it has just been explained, that the lines of force of a magnet 14 coact best with the corresponding poles SI and NI of the ring 10.
Assuming now that it is desired to construct a coupling device having the same driven ring 10 as in the example described above and capable of transmitting the same torque but through a double air gap, i.e. - say of 2d1, we proceed as follows.
We draw a line 1,3 parallel to Il at a distance 2d, and a circle cw having for center the point of intersection P, straight lines l ; and ni and passing through the points SI and Ni.
The points of intersection N ;; and Sj of the circle c .. with the line l .; determine the locations of the centers which the poles of the Ticonal magnet 14a must occupy in the rotor 8a.
It will be appreciated that, for a determined diameter of the driven ring 10, the maximum air gap is obtained with a rotor 8a, in which the U-shaped magnets 14a are, by their outer edges, in contact with the poles of the two adjacent magnets, as shown in solid lines in the drawing.
This is an advantageous construction of the pump motor which has just been described, because the large air gap allows the air gap liner 6 to be easily accommodated, without it being necessary to carry out a very high precision adjustment, and to 'prevent impurities conveyed by the liquid delivered by the pump from blocking the ring 10 against an air-gap liner 6 too little apart from this ring.
When the rotor 8a is used, of course also another air gap liner 6a more distant from the ring 10 than the liner 6 (see lower part of FIG. 3).
In addition, the contact of the poles of opposite polarities provides the advantage of reinforcing the remanence, that is to say the useful remanent flux of the magnets 14a.
If one wants to obtain an even larger air gap, it is necessary to use a driven ring 10 of larger diameter.
According to the embodiment shown in the figure, the ring 10, made of a hard ferrite, is threaded onto a mandrel 11 of a non-magnetic material, and tightened against a shoulder 11a of the mandrel by a nut 12, also in a non-magnetic material, screwed on urn threaded part of the mandrel. The man drin 11 is made integral with the shaft 3 by united visl3.
The bell 8 is made of a non-magnetic material which may be a metal or a light alloy or a plastic. It has U-shaped cells, the ends of which are flush with the inside perimeter of the bell and which each contain a magnet 14, immobilized in its cell, for example, by a screw, a pin or by glue, or still seized by molding in the material of the bell 8.
In the case shown in FIG. 2, in which the bell 8 carries six magnets 14, and assuming the drawing is to scale 1 /;, the magnetic coupler can transmit from shaft 9 to shaft 3 with practically an efficiency of < B> 100 % (there is no slip, no heating by eddy currents) a torque of about 3 kg / cm.
The same coupler with only four magnets 14 makes it possible to transmit a torque of 2 kg / cm; with three magnets, it would transmit a torque of 1.5 kg / cm, and with two magnets a full neck of 1 kg / cm.
In the numerical examples indicated above, the air gap ring 10 - bell 8 was each time approximately 3 mm, which is sufficient to accommodate the cap 6 against which must not rub, of course, nor the drum 10- l1-12 nor the bell 8.
The cap 6 can be obtained by stamping a non-magnetic stainless steel sheet, for example, 1/1 "or s / 10 mm thick. It can also be made of a plastic or any other material. non-magnetic and rigid.
This cap has along its opening an annular flange 6b by which it is fixed by screws, with the interposition of a flat seal, against part 7 of the sealed housing.
The motor 2, which is removably fixed by a bracket 15 against the sealed casing 7 of the pump, is of a type which is commonly found in the trade, it can be easily replaced in the event of damage. . This motor can be provided with several operating speeds to be able to increase the pump flow according to the seasons.
It can also be fitted with an automatic control to operate at high speed during the heating start-up period and then at reduced speed when the installation is in temperature (automatic control by thermostat, known per se).
In the housing 7, 7a, there is advantageously provided, between the wheel 1 and its volute on the one hand, and the space located inside the cap 6 in which the drum 10, 11, 12 operates: d ' on the other hand, a settling chamber 16 and, in the latter, a magnetic trap.
The latter may be constituted by a ring 17 held around the bearing 1.8 of the shaft 3, between the removable cup-shaped walls of the chamber 16, one of which is formed by a cover 19 of the chamber in which the chamber works. the rotor 1 of the pump and the support of the bearing 18 of the pump shaft and, the other, by part 7 of the outer wall of the sealed casing and serving as a support for the cap 6.
The walls 19, 7 and the caliper 15, coaxially superposed around the shaft 3, are advantageously fixed by common studs 20 to the part 7a of the sealed housing of the pump, which allows instant disassembly of all the parts. movable of the pump by removing the studs 20 without it being necessary to remove part 7a of the heating installation.
It is even possible to reestablish the circulation of water in the installation after having fixed against part 7a of the pump housing a repair cover (not shown) which, taking the place of the housing part 7, is fixed by screws engaged in the threads of the studs 20. The circulation can then be established to a certain extent by the thermosiphon effect.
The ring 17 is constituted by a permanent magnet, in a material similar to that of the ring 10, the opposite poles of which are located on the lateral flanks, which bear respectively against the walls 7 and 19 established in a non-magnetic material. In this way, the magnetic flux of the ring 17 closes, on the one hand, through the chamber 16 and, on the other hand, through the shaft 3, which retains the ferromagnetic impurities (filings, rust, etc. .) in the settling chamber 16 and prevents them from entering under the cap 6.
With regard to the end of the shaft 3 opposite to that carrying the drum 10, 11, 12, it is advantageously made accessible through a look 21 provided in part 7a of the sealed housing and closed by a removable plug 22 The end of the shaft 3, which is accessible through the viewing window 21, is preferably shaped in such a way that it can be grasped and forcibly driven by means of a tool such as, for example, a wrench. or a screwdriver.
For this purpose, the end 23 of the shaft 3 can be given the shape of a hexagon nut and made to protrude slightly beyond a bearing 24 mounted in said opening 21 (fig. 1). .
This provides the possibility, without carrying out any other disassembly than unscrewing the plug 22, of checking whether the shaft 3 is actually driven by the shaft 9 of the motor, and, if it was not. , to release it by force, which is sometimes sufficient to restart a scaled-up pump or to dislodge an impurity which could possibly have been engaged, for example, between the rotor 1 of the pump and its sealed housing.
It may be advantageous, moreover, to provide the end 23 of the shaft 3 with a permanent magnet 25, for example of a material similar to that of the rings 10 and 17 and the opposite poles of which are located on either side. 'other with a diameter of said shaft (FIG. 4), and to provide, on a plug 22 made of non-magnetic material, for example bronze, a circular groove 26, concentric with the shaft 3.
By placing in the groove 26 a ball 27 of magnetic material, the latter travels through the groove 26 in the direction of rotation of the shaft 3, and it is therefore possible to control the rotation of the shaft 3, without removing the stopper 22. In the center of the stopper 22, a cell 28 can be provided in which the ball 27 can be placed at rest.
