Fig. 2 zeigt eine Draufsicht und
Fig. 3 einen Schnitt nach Linie III-III der Fig. 2.
Plant container with watering device
Plant vessels are known in which an insert plate is provided with hollow stubs, the lower ends of which rest on the bottom of the vessel, and which divides the vessel into two parts: a water space located directly above the bottom of the vessel and a main space above it, which is filled with potting soil is intended to be replenished. In addition to the hollow nozzle, the plate also has a semi-cylindrical extension which, with a side wall of the vessel, forms a shaft leading into the water space, which is used to pour the water.
The cavities of the nozzles are filled with capillary action material, which is intended to suck up water from the water space into the potting soil. Furthermore, one of the side walls of the vessel at the level of the insert plate has a slot serving as a water overflow.
The disadvantages of this planter are, on the one hand, the costly production of the insert plate, especially since a suitable insert plate must be made for each vessel size. On the other hand, with this vessel the outflow of the water cannot be influenced during heavy rain. These deficiencies are remedied by the subject matter of the invention.
The invention relates to a plant vessel with an irrigation device, characterized in that a side wall of the vessel has at least two holes arranged one above the other, one or the other of which is closed by means of a plug, further characterized in that a separating layer made of porous material forms the interior of the Divided into two rooms:
a water space located directly above the bottom of the vessel and filled with large-grain porous material up to the level of the upper hole, and an upper main space which is intended to be filled with potting soil, and that a pipe attachment penetrates the materials in the interior of the vessel and for Pouring water into the water space is intended.
The drawing shows, for example, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention.
1 shows a longitudinal view of the plant container in elevation, partly in section.
Fig. 2 shows a plan view and
FIG. 3 shows a section along line III-III in FIG. 2.
The embodiment shown in the drawing is composed of four parts, namely a vessel 1, an insert part 5, a base made of large-grain porous material 6 and a film made of porous plastic 7.
The vessel 1, which has an unperforated bottom, is expediently made of asbestos cement and has two somewhat conical holes 2 and 3 on one of the side walls, one of which by means of a plug 4, e.g. B. made of rubber, can be closed.
The insert part 5 consists of a cut obliquely at the lower end, for. B. made of plastic pipe section. The lower part of the interior of the vessel is filled up to the level of the hole 3 with large-grain porous material 6, made of baked clay, Leca (protected trademark) with a grain size of 15-18 mm and forms the actual water space 8 and at the same time a base for the potting soil. On the grains 6, is a porous plastic sheet z. B. Styrofoam (registered trademark). The main space 9 located above the film 7 is used to receive potting soil.
Hole 2 is located directly above the bottom of the vessel, while hole 3, depending on the size of the planter, is approx. 3.5 to 8 cm above hole 2 and corresponds to the height of the Leca base.
The styrofoam film 7 could also by a layer of coarse-grained porous material such as. B.
Zonolite (protected trademark) with a grain size of 8 to 12 mm.
The styrofoam film 7 must be adapted to the vessel and cut accordingly, while the layer of Zonolite grains is not bound to the shape of the vessel.
The water space 8 is filled by pouring water into the pipe insert 5 until the water overflows through the hole 3. When using a planter with an irrigation device, watering has to be carried out considerably less often than is the case when watering the plant soil from above.
The possibility of standing water in the lower potting soil layer is also eliminated. When using the plant container described, the porous Leca grains have a capillary effect and suck the water from the water space into the also capillary acting Styrofoam film and from there into the plant soil.
In the event of persistent heavy rain, the outflow of excess water can be accelerated by pulling the plug 4 out of the hole 2 and inserting it into the hole 3.
When plants, in particular geraniums, are overwintered, the plug is also inserted into hole 3 in order to prevent stagnant water and thus rot the plants.
A third hole could also be provided between holes 2 and 3, two holes then being closed by means of plugs. This enables a change in the water level in the water space.
