Device for controlling a device for filling or emptying a tank at the level of the liquid contained in the tank The present invention relates to a device for controlling a device for filling or emptying a tank at the level of the liquid contained in the tank. level of the liquid contained in the reservoir so that this member, such as a valve or a pump, is automatically put into action when the pressure or the level reaches a determined value, minimum or maximum as the case may be.
The device according to the invention is characterized by a working fluid regulator in which the closing or opening of a leak orifice, controlled by the level of the liquid, changes the pressure of the working fluid between certain minimum and maximum values and by a sudden tripping three-way relay valve connected to the regulator and to the working fluid, so that its tripping occurs when the pressure changed by the regulator has reached the maximum or minimum value and determines the emission of a pulse sudden motor fluid actuating the filling or emptying device.
The slaving device thus formed being controlled solely by the action of a motive fluid is particularly suitable for being implemented in all cases where other energy sources such as, for example, electricity, cannot be used because of the prevailing humidity or the risk of explosion, for example for the automatic control of the so-called crossing operations which are currently carried out by manual control in beer cellars, and by which a single supply progressing without interruption from tank to tank is used to ensure the successive filling of the tanks.
The device can be applied, in similar conditions, to the automatic control of the so-called cutting operations, which consist in the successive emptying of the tanks.
An embodiment of the object of the invention and a variant will be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, to which FIG. 1 is an overall diagram of the device used for a crossing operation, and FIG. 2 is a diagram of an alternative embodiment of the pneumatic control device.
In the example of FIG. 1, the device is a separator member 1 constituted by a capsule divided into two chambers 1a, 1b by a sealed membrane 2, the chamber 1a being put in relation with the liquid whose level must "be detected by a pipe 3 while the chamber lb is connected by a pipe 4 to a regulator 5 closed by an aneroid membrane 6. On the pipe 4 is connected an instantaneous level indicator 7.
At the center of the membrane 6 is fixed a rod 8 to which is attached a lever 9 carrying a pallet 10. The latter cooperates with a nozzle 11 placed in communication by a leakage orifice 11a with a duct 12 which communicates itself. even, through the intermediary of a; throttle 12a, with a compressed air inlet duct 13, fitted with a filter 14.
On the rod 8: a compressed spring 15 is arranged, the tension of which, opposing the thrust transmitted by the membrane 6, can be adjusted by a handwheel 16. For its part, the section of the constriction 12a can be adjusted. adjusted by a screw 12b.
The conduit 12 is connected, on the other hand, by a bypass conduit 17; to a three-way valve 18 with sudden release, constituting an all or nothing relay of known type. This valve is connected, on the other hand, to a duct 19 connected to a branch 20 of the engine compressed air inlet duct 13 and to a duct 21 intended, as will be explained below, to direct the air. compressed in various piloting devices controlling the automatic pneumatic control of the filling member of a crossing installation.
The arrangement of the lever 9 carrying the pallet 10 can be such that the pallet 10 closes the nozzle 11 when the level detected by the conduit 3 and controlled by the spring 15 reaches the determined value for which the filling member must be placed. in operation (in which case the control device is direct acting), or so that the pallet 10 opens the nozzle 11 when this same value is reached (the device then being indirectly acting).
Assuming this is a direct-acting control, nozzle 11 is normally open and relay valve 18 normally interrupts communication between ducts 19 and 21. Compressed air arriving through. the duct 13, and previously filtered by its passage through the filter 14, enters the duct 12 through the constriction 12a and continuously flows through the leakage orifice 11a of the nozzle. When the reference level reaches the determined value, the vane 10 closes the nozzle 11 and the pressure rises in the duct 12, until the value corresponding to the triggering of the relay valve 18 is reached.
This pressure can be monitored by a manometer 22 connected to the pipe 12 while the pressure of the compressed air arriving through the pipe 13 can be monitored by means of a manometer 23 connected to the latter. This pressure can be, for example, of the order of 0.9 kg, the modulated pressure in the pipe 12 then varying between 0 and 0; 9 kg and the relay valve 18 being calibrated to trigger under a pressure of 0. , 7 / 0.9 kg.
When the pressure in the duct 12 reaches this latter value, the sudden triggering of the relay valve 18 places the duct 19 in communication with the duct 21, so that the compressed engine air coming from the inlet duct 13 enters the duct. conduit 21, putting the latter in a state of action ner the piloting devices which control the automatic control of the filling member which will be described below. In addition, the compressed air thus admitted into the duct 21 can actuate a whistle 24.
The filling member consists of a three-way valve 25 associated with a pneumatic cylinder 26. The valve 25 comprises a pipe 25a connected to the pipe (not shown) through which arrives the liquid to be handled (beer, in the application example chosen) and two pipes <I> 25b </I> and 25c respectively connected to two flexible filling pipes (not shown). The two pipes 25b and 25c comprise, inside the valve 25, two seats <I> 25d </I> and 25e facing each other and with which a valve 27 integral with the rod 26a of the piston cooperates. 26b of the cylinder 26.
The operation of the latter is ensured by means of the following elements. The pipe 21 starting from the relay valve 18 is connected to a three-way valve 28 with manual control, connected on the other hand by a pipe 29 to the compressed air motor line 20, and the particular function of which will be explained later.
The third way of the valve 28 is connected by a conduit 30 to a preselector 31, also constituted by a manually controlled three-way valve, and the two outlet ways of which are connected by conduits 32a and 32b to the two chambers of end 33a and 33b of a pneumatic slide valve of a known type, forming a pilot valve. This com distributor takes a cylindrical body 33 interposed between the two chambers 33a and 33b and which comprises a median inlet orifice 33c connected by means of a valve 34 to the duct 20 of the engine compressed air.
In the bore of the body 33 moves a slide 33d integral, at its two ends, with two pistons 33e, 33f mounted in the chambers 33a and 33b. This slider comprises a median cylindrical bulge 33g fitted with gentle friction in the bore of the body 33 and which is intended to cooperate with the inlet orifice 33c, and two symmetrical end bulges 33h and 33i, also fitted in the bore of the body 33, and which are intended to cooperate respectively with two outlet orifices 33j and 33k connected by conduits 35 and 36 to the working chambers of the cylinder 26 located on either side of the piston 26b,
and with .two ports <B> 331 </B> and 33m communicating with the atmosphere.
A grease nipple 37 is placed on the motor compressed air duct 20, providing lubrication for the distributor 33.
The overall operation of the device thus formed is as follows. It is assumed, for example, that the valve 27 of the filling valve 25 is initially applied to the seat 25e, so that the outlet pipe 25c is taken out of service and that the beer arriving through the tube 25a is directed through the outlet tube 25b towards one of the tanks to be filled. When the level of the beer in this tank reaches the determined value corresponding to the adjustment of the nozzle-paddle regulator, the pressure in the duct 12 creates a pneumatic impulse which causes, as has been explained above, the sudden triggering of the valve. relay valve 18 and actuation of the warning whistle 24.
The manually operated valves 28 and 31 being at this moment in the position shown in FIG. 1 and the relay valve 18 being brought by the aforementioned pneumatic pulse into the position also shown in this same figure, the compressed air derived from the pipe 20 through the pipe 19 is admitted into the chamber 33b of the pilot valve 33 by the following pilot circuit: pipe 19 - relay valve 18 - pipe 21 - valve 28 - pipe 30 - preselection valve 31 - pipe 32b.
The piston 33f is then moved to the left and brings the slide 33d into a position where the compressed engine air arriving in the pilot valve 33 through the orifice 33c is admitted through the conduit 36 in the part of the cylinder 26 located to the right of piston 26b. The latter is then moved to the left and brings the flap 27 of the filling valve 25 in the position where it puts the <I> 25a </I> inlet pipe for the beer in communication with the outlet pipe 25c and interrupts the communication between the tubes 25a and <I> 25b. </I> The tube 25b is thus put out of service and the beer is directed through the tube 25e to the new tank to be filled.
Furthermore, when the sound signal produced by whistle 24 is called, the operator responsible for monitoring the installation intervenes as follows 1. He moves the flexible filling pipe connected to the outlet pipe 25b of the valve 25 so as to bring it from the tank whose filling has just been completed into an empty tank.
2. It connects the level 3 detector pipe to the new tank being filled and if necessary adjusts the height of the level that the beer must reach in it.
3. It swings the preselection valve 31 so as to bring it into the position shown in dotted lines; corresponding to the subsequent filling operation.
The pilot pressure which determined the above-described operation of the control cylinder 26 of the filling valve 25 is then removed and the device is ready for the subsequent filling operation, which will take place when a new pneumatic pulse occurs. pro voiced by the nozzle-vane regulator.
The pilot pressure can also be removed by tilting the manually operated valve 28 bringing the latter into the position shown in dotted lines in FIG. 1. This tilting, which puts the valve 28 directly in relation to the duct 20 of compressed air motor can be effected, for example, to manually complete the filling of a tank in the event of an error in the adjustment of the nozzle regulator. pallet, or in case of failure of the latter.
It can easily be seen that the device shown in FIG. 1, the operation of which has been reduced for the case of filling operations, can also be applied to the control of emptying operations, the nozzle-vane regulator then being set according to a minimum level and the valve 25 being arranged accordingly.
The diagram in fig. 2 relates to an alternative embodiment of the piloting and control circuits. In this diagram, the circuits have only been represented from points A and B where they are connected to the assembly constituted by the nozzle-pallet regulator and by the relay valve 18 shown in the upper part of FIG. 1, this set remains unchanged. On the other hand, the wise filling valve 25 associated with the control cylinder 26 has also been omitted, this valve possibly being identical to that of FIG. 1.
We therefore see at 20 the driving compressed air duct intended to actuate the control cylinder 26 and at 21 the signaling compressed air duct leaving from the relay valve 18. The duct 20, on which is interposed a valve here. 38, is connected by two: symmetrical branches 39, 40 to the two chambers located on either side of the piston 26b of the control cylinder 26. For its part, the duct 21 is connected to the duct 20 by a bypass 41 on which interposed is a manually operated two-way valve 42, which is normally closed.
The same pipe 21 is further connected by a second branch 43 to a normally closed two-way valve 44, which is connected to the engine compressed air pipe 20 and is arranged to actuate a whistle 45. The branch 43 is connected to 'on the other hand to a two-way valve 46 normally open, the function of which will be indicated below. The conduit 21 finally leads, through a three-way valve 47, to a normally closed two-way valve 48.
The normally open valve 46 is inserted into a duct 49 which, on the one hand, leads to the three-way valve 47 and, on the other hand, is connected to the branch 39 of the engine compressed air duct controlling the cylinder. 26.
The valve 47 is normally open in the direction of the conduit 21 and its third port, normally closed, is connected to a three-way valve 50 arranged in series with the valve 48 on a conduit 51. The latter is connected with a on the one hand, naked duct 20 of engine compressed air and ends, on the other hand, in a three-way valve 52 interposed on branch 39 of the latter. The three-way valve 50 is normally open in the direction of the duct 51 and its third way, opening to the air, is normally closed. On either side of the valve 48, the conduit 51 is connected to a normally closed two-way valve 53, arranged in parallel with the valve 48 and which is connected by a conduit 49 'to the conduit 49.
The duct 51 is finally connected by a bypass 51 'to a three-way valve 54 interposed on the branch 40 of the engine compressed air duct: The valve 52 is normally closed - in the direction of the branch 39, its third way being then open to the air. For its part, the valve 54 is normally open in the direction of the branch 40, its third channel being closed.
To make the description of the operation of the pneumatic device thus constituted clearer, the directions in which the various valves which compose it are normally open and normally closed have been indicated, for each valve, in the diagram of FIG. 2, by the symbols NO and NC. This operation is as follows. A fugitive or permanent pulse can be obtained either by the pressure produced in the duct 21 under the effect of the automatic operation of the nozzle-vane regulator described with reference to FIG. 1,
or by means of manual intervention opening the valve 42 normally closed.
On the other hand, the pressure of the engine compressed air reigns permanently in the duct 20. Initially, in the absence of a pulse, the state of the various elements of the device is as follows: the valves 46, 44, 48 and 50 are not supplied by the pulse circuit 21-43 and remain at rest. The pressure of the compressed air motor acts through the valve 54 normally open to maintain the piston 26b of the cylinder 26 in the position shown in the drawing, while the valve 52 maintains the chamber of the cylinder located to the left of the piston 26b at atmospheric pressure. The valves 47 and 53 are not supplied and also remain at rest.
When a first pulse (which is assumed to be fleeting) occurs, the circuit 21-43 supplies the valves 44, 46 and 48 with compressed air. The valve 44 opens and puts the whistle 45 in action, the valve 46 closes and valve 48 opens, thus supplying compressed air to valves 52 and 54.
The valve 52 opens and the valve 54 closes, which has the effect of moving to the right the piston 26b of the cylinder 26 controlling the filling valve 25 shown in FIG. 1, the chamber located to the right of the piston 26b being placed in communication with the atmosphere by the valve 54. The open valve 52 also supplies the valve 53 which thus ensures the self-supply since the valve 48 closes when the pulse disappears. .
Valve 46 which opens when the pulse has ceased supplies power to valve 47, which opens in the direction of valve 50 and automatically changes the direction of the next impulse to come from. valve 48 to valve 50.
When a second pulse (also assumed to be fleeting) occurs, the circuit 21-43 therefore supplies the valves 44, 46 and 50 with compressed air. The valve 44 opens and puts the whistle 45 in action again, the valve 46 closes and the third normally closed channel of the valve 50 opens, thus interrupting the supply to the valves 52 and 54, of which it decompresses.
The valves 52 and 54 then return to their initial state of rest shown in the drawing and determine the displacement of the piston 26b of the cylinder 26 to the left, the valve 52 decompressing the left chamber of the cylinder and 6 also the valves 53 and 47 since the disappearance of the pulse caused the opening of the valve 46. The valve 47, returned to its initial opening position, therefore restores the direction of the next impulse to come from the valve 50 towards the valve 48.
The initial conditions being thus re-established, the third impulse will have the same effect as the first, after which the fourth impulse will have the same effect as the second and so on, the successive impulses, fleeting or not, allowing to alternate and to maintain, by the pressure of the compressed air engine, the position of the cylinder and,
consequently, of the liquid valve controlled by the latter.
It should be noted that at the sound call of the whistle 45 put into action at each pulse, the operator will have to perform the same maneuvers as those which have been described for the device shown in FIG. 1, with the exception, however, of the preselection operation which is carried out automatically by the valve 47.
The relay valve may be designed to actuate, in addition to a signaling member, or concurrently with this member, a recording device.
