ce qui permet de réduire sensiblement l'ensemble des pertes dues au courant dans la totalité de cet enroulement, tout en diminuant 'encombrement des bobinages et, par suite, du circuit magnétique 2 dans lequel il est logé ;
Suivant la fig. 3, les extrémités de deux barres 8,et 9 sont rendues solidaires de douilles métalliques 10, qui peuvent être tubulaires si les barres ont une section circulaire, comme dans le cas des fig. 1 et 2 ;
Winding of an electric machine For economic reasons and because of the increasing demand for electric energy, 1: the unit power of the machines. Electricity has grown rapidly over the past ten years.
The new known methods of cooling the windings, in particular, allow efficient evacuation of the losses arising therein and leave the possibility of increasing the unit power of the machines in the future.
while complying with the sizing constraints imposed by current modes of transport; however, this increase in unit powers: will be accompanied by an increase in the specific use of materials, and will consequently lead to increasingly high losses.
Thanks both to the qualities of modern magnetic sheets, to the replacement of air by hydrogen and also to the adoption of appropriate constructive measures, the efficiency of turbo-alternators - teurs have remained at a high level so far. But, if the unitary powers continue their rapid advance, it is likely,
in the current state of the art, that the specific losses will increase, particularly those due to the current, which will lead to a decrease .du yield.
Further progress to overcome this serious drawback and to reduce the dimensions of these machines and their specific losses can be accomplished by utilizing the property of nearly pure metals of being much more conductive of electric current when they are brought to low temperature by suitable means, using, for example, helium,
air or hydrogen, in liquid or even gaseous state. However, if we were content to circulate such a liquid or such a gas at these temperatures inside the bars of a conventional winding, of the Roebel type for example, as it is generally designed in the induced windings ,
the losses by Joule effect due to the passage of current in these bars would be greatly reduced due to the reduction in the resistivity of the conductive metal, but the additional losses in the elementary conductors,
due to the transverse field in the notches, which vary rapidly as a function of the inverse of the square of this resistivity, would be inadmissible.
The present invention relates to an electrical machine winding arranged so as to make it possible to reduce both the dimensioning and the losses, preventing the circulation of a liquid or a gas at low temperature.
This winding is characterized in that its winding bars are made of metal or conductive alloy wires - of high purity, of small diameter, insulated from each other from the wall, and are separated from the magnetic circuit which supports them and from the outside environment,
by a thermally and electrically insulating coating, an empty space:
in the form of a longitudinal channel being formed inside these bars to allow circulation of a cooling fluid at low -temperature.
This fluid can hearth produced by a controlled cryogenic system, supplemented by the necessary accessohes - for the circulation of said fluid and @au maintaining a constant temperature in the cooled coil,
corresponding for example to the minimum losses of the winding.
With reference to the appended drawing, embodiments of the invention will be described, by way of example, constituting: induced windings of tumbo-al @ ternators.
Fig. 1 shows, in partial section, along a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotor, two notches of an alternator stator, each containing two winding bars.
Fig. 2 ballast united partial cut, also following a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotor, made in two notches each containing a single bar per notch.
Fig. 3 is a schematic view showing the bars of the winding at one end, in partial section, and their junctions - with the tubes amending the cooling fluid.
In the example represented by FIG. 1, each winding bar 1 is composed of wires made of metal or of a conductive alloy as pure as possible, of a small diameter, for example a fraction of a millimeter,
isolated between them and twisted together so that each of them occupies all the positions in the height of the bar, in order to achieve a transposition equivalent to that of a classic bar, of the Roebel type for example,
which makes it possible to substantially reduce all of the losses due to the current in the whole of this winding, while reducing the size of the windings and, consequently, of the magnetic circuit 2 in which it is housed;
each bar has a recess 3 for the wise passage of the gaseous or liquid cooling fluid at low temperature.
This recess is obtained, for example, by suppressing a filler body replacing a strand of fine wires, incorporated into the cable at the time of its formation, this body possibly being a low-melting point alloy, or a vaporizable material, or reliable liquor, or soluble,
or a mechanically strong and lubricating drill bit that can be pulled out.
This recess takes the place of a cooling tube, which, to be a good conductor of heat, should be metallic and, therefore, would be the seat of inadmissible losses caused by the transverse field due to the low resistivity due to its low temperature.
The twisting of the conductive wires gives the bar good rigidity, after obtaining the recess 3. This rigidity can optionally be further improved by impregnation with thermosetting resins.
In order to limit the importance of the cryogenic accessories, the bars are separated from any external environment by a covering 4 in material having a very low thermal conductivity,
which can be applied as a sheet wound on the bar or as a ribbon. This covering may also be composed of an insulating double envelope, containing an insulating gas or liquid under pressure, closed at the ends of the bars.
An insulating sheath 5 ensures good electrical insulation of the bars with respect to the ground; the presence of the coating 4 between the conductive cable and the sheath 5 prevents both this sheath from being subjected to too low temperatures and to an excessively high temperature gradient.
The covering 4 and the insulating sheath 5 may optionally be replaced by a composite material having satisfactory insulating qualities both from a thermal and electrical point of view.
Shims 6 and 7 of insulating material hold the bars securely in the magnetic circuit.
Fig. 2 shows a notch in cross section comprising only one bar, the latter having the same composition and the same insulation as in the case of the example of FIG. 1, the corresponding members bearing the same references as in FIG. 1.
In these examples, it was assumed that the bars had a circular cross section but this section could also be square or rectangular for sizing convenience.
According to fig. 3, the ends of two bars 8, and 9 are made integral with metal sockets 10, which may be tubular if the bars have a circular section, as in the case of FIGS. 1 and 2 ;
at the place of the junction of the bar and the bush, a metal tube 11 prevents the ori fice of the cooling channel 3 from being blocked when the bar is introduced into the bush 10.
The other end of the sleeve 10 is connected to a tube 12, preferably of insulating material, having the desirable dielectric qualities and which may optionally be covered with a reinforcing coating 13; its thermal insulation so as to reduce:
effects of radiation, and of convection and, consequently, the importance of cryogenic accessories. The connection tubes 12 are traversed by the fluid at low temperature .contained in the header tubes 14 also insulated. The electrical connection between the two bars. 8 and 9 is made by a connection 15 which the,
preferably, the same constitution as the bars with the exception of channel 3, and which is connected at its ends to metal sleeves 16, in the form of a T for example.
According to one or the other of the known systems, the coolant can either travel only one bar, the inlet and outlet manifolds for this fluid being in this case respectively located at both ends of the machine, all the bars of the winding then being supplied with cooled fluid in parallel between these two collectors, two connected bars must be run:
between them, said reader necks then being placed on the same side of the machine, or possibly more than two bars. The collectors were connected to a controlled cryogenic system,
using as a reference the temperature of the coil to be cooled or the current flowing through it and which can be adjusted more particularly to the temperature for which: the sum of the losses by Joule effect and the additional losses of the coil is minimal.
