EMI0001.0007
beschrieben.

Process for the preparation of quaternized nitrogen-containing esters of phenylpyrazoline carboxylic acids. In Swiss Patent No. 386430, basic esters of phenylpyrazoline carboxylic acids are of the formula
EMI0001.0007
described.
They are obtained, for example, by using a basic nitrogen-containing and optionally further substituted alkanol with a 1- (4'-carboxyph:
enyl) -3-phenylpyrazoline, which can contain lower alkyl groups in the 4-position and lower alkyl groups or phenyl groups in the 5-position, under customary conditions or using a reactive functional derivative of this 1,3 diphenylcarboxylic acid esterified.
These compounds are well suited for lightening polymeric and capolymeric acrylonitrile, but have the disadvantage that they are practically insoluble in water.
In the further processing of the subject matter of the invention, it has now been found that water-soluble brighteners of the formula I are obtained for the materials mentioned
EMI0001.0042
in which R1 is unsubstituted or by halogen,:
never other alkyl or lower alkoxy groups substituted phenyl radical, R, hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical, R .., hydrogen,
a lower alkyl group or a phenyl radical which is unsubstituted or further substituted by nonionic substituents with the exception of the nitro group or arylazzo group, X an optionally substituted alkylene radical which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms.
R4 and R5, independently of one another, each have a lower alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, hydroxyalkylene-oxyalkyl, cyanoalkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl group or an unsubstituted or nadhtionogenic radical:
substituted phenyl group, or R4 and R;, together with the optionally including oxygen or further nitrogen, also a heterocycle,
Rs is an optionally unsubstituted alkyl or aralkyl radical, and Y is the anion of an acid, if a reactive ester of the formula II, R6-Y (II)
with a compound of the formula HI
EMI0002.0003
implements. R1 primarily denotes 3B a p-halophenyl radical, in particular the p-chlorophenyl radical, or the p -bromo or the p fluorophenyl radical;
in the second line, R1 denotes an unsubstituted phenyl radical, furthermore a methylghenyl, dimethylphenyl, chloromethylphenyl, ethylphenyl, isopropylphenyl, methoxyphenyl, ethoxyphenyl, propoxyphenyl or butoxyphenyl radical;
R. is primarily hydrogen, in the second line, for example, a methyl, ethyl, n- or iso-propyl, butyl radical;
R3 means primarily hydrogen, secondly an unsubstituted, tertiary or any non-ionic substituted phenyl radical with the exclusion of color-producing substituents such as nitro or arylazo groups,
Thus, for example, a chlorophenyl, bromophenyl, methyl #phenyl, dimethylphenyl, ethylphenyl, Me'ihoxyphenyl-, dialkylsulfamylphenyl, alkylsulfonylphenyl radical, whereby several identical or different of the substituents mentioned can be present;
91 and R5, independently of one another, primarily denote lower alkyl groups, such as methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl groups, and further substituted lower alkyl groups, such as hydroxyethyl, hydroxypropyl, 2,3 dihydroxypropyl -, cyanoethyl,
Methoxy or ethoxyethyl or [3-hydroxyethoxyethyl groups. You can also use cyclohexyl groups, individual unsubstituted or substituted phenyl groups, such as methylphenyl, dimethylphenyl, ethylphenyl, methoxy,
or ethoxyphenyl groups. If R4 and Ra together with the substance denote heterocycles, then primarily the piperidino, morpholino or a pyrrolidino radical.
X denotes an optionally substituted alkylene radical, which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, primarily the ethylene and the 1,2- or 1,3 propylene group, in the second line the 1,4-, 2,3 - or 1,3 B: utylene group;
if X is the radical of a further substituted alkylene, then it is embodied, for example, by a benzylene group, a phenyleneoxyethyl or the ph.enäthylengruppe, as well as, also by polyalkyleneoxyalkylene groups of the formula (-alkylene-O-), tafkylene-, where n is an integer, in particular a lower integer, for example 1 to 3,
and alkylene embodied by ethylene groups, furthermore by 1,2 propylene and in individual members also by phenyl ethylene groups.
R means, for example, a lower alkyl radical, e.g. B. the methyl, abhyl, n-propyl or n Butyl.rest or an aralkyl radical, z. B. the benzyl radical; Y represents the anion of an inorganic acid, e.g.
B. a hydrohalic acid or if necessary with lower alkanols once esterified sulfuric acid or an organic sulfonic acid, z. B. an aryl sulfonic acid, such as benzene or p-toluenesulfonic acid.
Reactive esters of the formula II which can be used according to the invention are, for example, the methyl, ethyl, propyl,
B. butyl or benzyl esters of hydrogen chloride or hydrogen bromide or the dimethyl or diethyl esters of sulfuric acid or the methyl or ethyl esters of benzenesulfonic acid or p-toluenesulfonic acid.
The reaction of compounds of the formula III with reactive esters of the formula II to form compounds of the formula 1 is expediently carried out by heating the two starting materials in an inert organic material.
Solvents. Inert organic solvents, for example, are optionally halogenated or nitrated aromatic hydrocarbons, such as halogen or nitrobenzenes or optionally halogenated .aliphatic hydrocarbons, e.g.
B. Trnchloräthylen or tetrachlorethylene, as well as lower alkanols, such as methanol or At "nanal in question.
The purification of the compounds of the formula I which can be prepared according to the invention is expediently carried out by recrystallization from polar solvents, such as from lower alkanols, e.g. B. methanol or ethanol or from lower aliphatic ketones such as acetone.
The new compounds of formula I draw from acidic, aqueous solution on fibers and textiles made of polymeric and copolymeric acrylonitrile under the usual dyeing conditions and give even low levels. for example 0.005 to 0.5% yellowed fibers: and textiles made of acrylonitrile;
polymers have a much improved, whiter appearance in daylight.
In the following examples, unless expressly stated otherwise, RTI ID = "0002.0235" WI = "19" HE = "4" LX = "1287" LY = "2205">, the parts are parts by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Parts by weight have the same relationship to parts by volume as grams to cm3.
