Elastic fluid turbine The power adjustment of an elastic fluid turbine is generally obtained by means of a division into segments of the first director-blading, that is to say of the first director, each segment being controlled by a separate valve. All segments are energized during full load operation, and only some of them during reduced load operation of the turbine.
For even more reduced steps, the primary steam flow allowed, for example, on two segments of the first stage, can no longer, due to the reduction in the pressure difference on either side of the stage turbine adjustment, ensure the required power. It is thus necessary to provide a third segment on the first stage of the turbine and to admit there, by means of an additional valve, secondary steam at a higher pressure than the primary steam used up to present.
The three segments thus delimited on the direction of the first stage of the turbine occupy at best the totality of the injection arc, or, to fix ideas, each of the portions. of the order of a third of the circumference. To pass the necessary flow rate during normal operation of the turbine, it is therefore necessary to give the mobile blades a relatively large height. As, in normal operation, two out of three parts of the moving vanes are not supplied with steam, this results in a considerable loss of power due to the ventilation of the inactive vanes.
Likewise, for walking with supply of the third segment alone, the slope by ventilation is relatively greater, then the pumping power is low: In addition, when the three segments are supplied with steam, this provision has the disadvantage deny submitting them. mobile blades with a cyclic variation in temperature of large amplitude and fairly high frequency, and consequently to thermal stresses.
The object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks mentioned above and the turbine which is the subject thereof comprising a first main stage provided with a directrix divided into segments which can be supplied separately and means for adjusting the quantity of, fluid admitted to said stage is distinguished by an additional first stage supplied separately, and means for adjusting the admission of the driving fluid according to the operation of the turbine, either on the first main stage or on the additional first stage, or at the times on these first two floors,
the fluid then following the same path in the other stages of the turbine.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the turbine which is the subject of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of part of this turbine.
Figs. 2 and 3 are transverse sections., Respectively, to the right of the torus: admission of the primary going fear along line A-A of FIG. 1, and to the right of the secondary steam inlet toroid along line B-B in fig. 1.
The turbine shown is intended for driving a water supply pump in a power plant, it comprises, inside the body 1, a rotor 2 driving the pump and set in rotation by a number. of steam expansion stages, of which only the first have been shown to simplify the figure. The primary steam arrives through a pipe 3 and the secondary steam through a pipe 4. The primary vapor acts on a wheel 5 of the first main stage, while the secondary vapor acts on an additional first stage wheel 6 of smaller diameter. -to reduce ventilation losses in normal operation.
The primary steam inlet toroid is divided into two segments, a segment 7 which, in normal operation, is only supplied by primary steam, the flow rate of which is regulated by a valve 8 and segment 9 which . is supplied, during operation at reduced speed, by primary steam, the flow rate of which is regulated by a valve 10.
It is possible to have a small diameter for the wheel 6 since the efficiency of: expansion of this stage, used at very low speed, is of quite secondary importance. In this way, in normal operation, for example, the total losses by ventilation, due to the moving vanes not receiving steam injection are considerably reduced compared to the case of a single stage, since, from one part , the moving vanes are of smaller height, due to the use of a larger part of the injection circumference, and that, on the other hand,
the diameter of the stage -relative to da secondary vapor may be small, as has just been explained.
This arrangement has, moreover, the advantage of allowing an admission of secondary vapor at a temperature different from that of the primary vapor without danger for the mechanical parts, the cyclic variation of temperature mentioned above being eliminated.
The secondary steam inlet torus 11 is fully supplied when the valve 12 is opened, during operation at very low speed.
- The primary steam leaves -.l'étage 5 according to the arrow 13 and the secondary steam escapes from the stage 6 according to the arrows 14. These two flows: of going fear relax in the rest of the -the turbine ; a part being withdrawn in 15 to. for reheating purposes and the rest passing through them. stages 16. A new draw-off is carried out in 17 and the remaining steam continues to expand, in stages 18, only one of which has been shown, with possibly other steam draw-offs; not shown.
The application of the turbine described in the case of a turbo-generator unit could be illustrated by an example similar to that which has just been described for an auxiliary turbine for driving a food pump. The withdrawals 15 and 17 would be deleted, the wheel of stage 6 would have, for example, a diameter close to that of the wheel of stage 5, and the directrix of stage 5 could be. divided into three segments.
The director of the first main stage could comprise three segments which with a segment on the director of the first secondary stage would correspond to the known arrangement in which the director of the first floor had four segments.
An advantage of the described turbine resides in the fact that a greater number of mobile vanes are subjected to the torque transmitted by the expansion of the fluid in the first stage when only some of the segments of the director are open and that, consequently, the enthalpy drop is strong there. As this arrangement results in a reduction in the height of the blades of the first stage, it follows a significant reduction in the stresses to which the moving blades are subjected during operations at low loads. .
