Orion (eingetragene Schutz marke), und Copolymeren aus95% Acrylnitril und 5 % Vinylacetat bzw. Methylacrylat bzw. Methyl- methacrylat in kräftigen Tönen, welche gute Licht-, Wasch-, Schweiss-, Sublimier-, Plissier-, Bügel-, Was ser-, Meerwasser- und Bleichechtheiten besitzen.

Process for the production of basic dyes Shaped structures which contain polyacrylonitrile as an essential component can, as is known, only be colored using special processes or selected dyes. For example, polyacrylonitrile can be colored with certain dyes containing sulfonic acid groups in the presence of copper (I) ions using the so-called cupro ion dyeing method in true, light to deep shades.
Unfortunately, the procedure is a bit tedious. For acrylic fibers, disperse dyes only provide light colors; and only a relatively narrow group of descendants from this class of dyes can be used.
It has now been found that dyes which contain at least one ternary sulfur atom have a good affinity for polyacrylonitrile fibers even at temperatures below 100 ° C. and are therefore very good for dyeing and printing molded articles made of polyacrylonitrile or copolymers or Materials that contain polyacrylonitrile as an essential component are suitable.
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of new basic dyes of the formula
EMI0001.0019
wherein A is the remainder of a dye free of coordinatively bonded metal atoms, carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid groups, R1 is a divalent organic residue linked to residue A via a nitrogen atom, R2 is an organic residue linked to the nitrogen atom linking the residues A and R1 can,
R3 is an optionally substituted alkyl or aralkyl radical and Xe is an anion equivalent to the dye cation.
The process for producing the new basic dyes is characterized in that a sulfide of the formula A-R1 S-R2 (1I) is reacted with a corresponding alkylating or aralkylating agent to give the associated tertiary sulfonium salt.
The sulfides used as starting bodies can be prepared by using an amine of the formula
EMI0001.0040
where R is hydrogen, a monovalent organic radical or, together with R2, a divalent organic radical, with a dye containing at least one exchangeable halogen atom, which does not contain any coordinatively bonded metal atoms, no carboxylic acid or sulfonic acid group, or such a dye compound capable of formation, if necessary in the presence of suitable buffering agents and at elevated temperature,
in an inert solvent or in an aqueous solution or suspension.
The sulfides can also be prepared in such a way that a halogen compound of the formula AR, - halogen (IV) in an inert solvent or in aqueous solution or suspension and in the presence of suitable alkaline condensing agents and at elevated temperature with a mercaptan of the formula HS- R2 (V) in which R2 has the meaning mentioned at the beginning.
As dye residues, for example, those of the anthraquinone, triphenylmethane, cyanine, styryl, perinone, naphthoquinone, nitro, oxazine, thiazine, quinophthalone, azomethine or, in particular, the azo dye series come into consideration.
The reaction of the sulfide with the alkylating or aralkylating agent to the tertiary sulfonium compound is preferably carried out in an inert solvent or optionally in aqueous suspension or without solvent in an excess of the alkylating or aralkylating agent and at elevated temperature and optionally in a buffered medium . Suitable alkylating or aralkylating agents are e.g.
B. the esters of strong mineral acids and organic sulfonic acids, alkyl chlorides, bromides and iodides, aralkyl halides, dialkyl sulfates and optionally further substituted benzenesulfonic acid esters such as the methyl, ethyl, propyl, n-butyl esters of benzenesulfonic acid, 2- or 4 -Methylbenzenesulfonic acid,
4-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid or 4-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid. The water-soluble dyes formed are separated off after one of the usual basic operations such as filtration, evaporation and filtration, precipitation with a suitable medium and filtration.
As anions X, both organic and inorganic ions come into consideration, such as. B. the formate, acetate, oxalate, lactate ions or the chloride, bromide, iodide, methyl sulfate, ethyl sulfate, sulfate, bisulfate, benzenesulfonate, 4-methylbenzene sulfonate,
4-chlorobenzenesulfonate ions. Water-soluble double salt compounds of the dye bases with certain inorganic salts such as zinc chloride can also be used.
If the anion-supplying compounds are the higher fatty acids, such as caproic acid, oenanthic acid, caprylic acid, pelargonic acid, capric acid, undecylic acid, lauric acid, tridecylic acid, myristic acid, pentadecylic acid, palmitic acid, margaric acid, which are optionally substituted by nonionic groups,
Stearic acid, nondecylic acid or arachidic acid and the unsaturated higher fatty acids such as oleic acid, elaidic acid, erucic acid, geranic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid and other aromatic or aliphatic carboxylic or sulfonic acid or phosphotungstic acid, phosphotungstic molybdenum acid,
Silicomolybdic acid, silicotungstic acid, various other inorganic complex acids or double salts, and sulfonic acid and / or. And carboxylic acid group-containing dyes and free dye acids of metal complex dyes, such as. B. 1: 2 metal complexes free of sulfonic and carboxylic acid groups, salts are obtained which are more or less insoluble in water and in some cases in organic solvents.
The new basic dyes are used for leveling and printing structures made of polymers with more than 80% acrylonitrile, for example polyacrylonitrile, e.g. B.
Orion (registered trademark), and copolymers made of 95% acrylonitrile and 5% vinyl acetate or methyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate in strong tones, which have good light, washing, perspiration, sublimation, Have pleating, ironing, water, seawater and bleaching fastness. The dyeing with the claimed dyes is advantageously done in an aqueous medium, whereby it is recommended to work in a neutral or acid medium at boiling temperature.
You can of course also carry out the staining in a closed vessel at elevated temperature and under pressure. With the dyes according to the definition, mixed fabrics which contain a polyacrylonitrile fiber content can also be dyed very well. Some of them are also suitable for dyeing polyacrylonitrile in bulk in shades which are fast to light, wash and perspiration. Some of those derivatives which have good solubility in organic solvents are also suitable for dyeing oils, lacquers, plastic masses, plastics and cellulose acetate fibers in the mass.
Derivatives which are obtained by laking the dye bases with inorganic complex acids, complex organic acids or even with acidic dyes and which are insoluble in organic solvents are in some cases also suitable as pigment dyes. For example, they dye acetate artificial silk and polyacrylonitrile fibers in the mass in yellow to green shades, which have very good fastness properties.
Furthermore, some of the new basic dyes can be used for many other purposes, for example for dyeing tannin cotton, wool, silk, regenerated cellulose, synthetic polyamide fibers and paper at any stage of manufacture. It has been shown that mixtures of two or more basic dyes can also be used with advantage.
In the following examples, parts by weight and percentages mean percentages by weight; the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius and the melting points are uncorrected. Example 1 22 parts of the tertiary amine of the formula
EMI0002.0133
are dissolved in 50 parts of acetic acid. The clear solution obtained in this way is added to a previously prepared diazo solution of 18 parts of 6-methoxy-2-aminobenzothiazole, 250 parts of 100% sulfuric acid, 250 parts of water and 7 parts of sodium nitrite at 5.
After the coupling has ended, the reaction mass is discharged onto 750 parts of ice and adjusted to pH 5 with about 500 parts of 30% sodium hydroxide solution with thorough stirring. The precipitated red dye is filtered off, washed neutral with dilute salt solution and dried. The crude product, which is obtained in excellent yield, is practically pure.
The new dye corresponds to the formula:
EMI0003.0003
The whole amount of the red dye obtained according to the above information is dissolved in 1000 parts of chlorobenzene and 200 parts of methyl alcohol at boiling temperature. 40 parts of diethyl sulfate are added dropwise to the clear red solution with thorough stirring, the color of the solution very quickly changing to blue.
The double alkylation is complete after a short time. The reaction mass is allowed to cool, and the precipitate formed is filtered off; washes it and dries it.
The raw product, which is obtained in excellent yield, is practically pure and dissolves in water with a splendid brilliant blue color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a yellow color. The dye obtained dyes polyacrylonitrile fibers in brilliant blue tones with excellent light, washing, perspiration, sublimation, pleating, ironing, water, sea water, smoke gas and bleaching fastness properties and reserves any co-treated wool.
The dyeings obtained are also colored very evenly and are clearly superior in leveling power to the dyeings of the constitutional dye made from the same diazo component and diethylaminobenzene as the coupling component.
The new dye obtained according to the invention has the formula
EMI0003.0013
The coloring of polyacrylonitrile can e.g. For example, it can be done as follows: 1 part of the dye obtainable according to the above example is dissolved in 3000 parts of room temperature water. 100 parts of pre-cleaned polyacrylonitrile fabric are added to the dye liquor acidified with 4% sulfuric acid, the temperature is increased in the course of half an hour until boiling and dyeing is continued for 1 hour at boiling temperature. It is then rinsed and soaped at the boil for 20 minutes in a bath containing 1 g / l of a nonionic detergent.
You rinse and dry.
Similar sulfonium dyes are obtained if the diethyl sulfate is replaced by dimethyl sulfate, benzene, 2- or 4-methyl, 2- or 4-chlorobenzenesulfonic acid, methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl ester, methane, ethane or Butanesulfonic acid methyl or ethyl ester, methyl, ethyl, propyl or butyl chloride,
bromide or iodide, as well as benzyl chloride or bromide replaced. If gaseous or low-boiling alkyl halides, such as methyl chloride, ethyl chloride, methyl bromide or ethyl bromide, are used, the alkylation is preferably carried out in a pressure vessel.
Further valuable basic azo dyes which can be prepared according to the instructions in Example 1 are described in the table below; they correspond to the formula:
