Machine for the fine machining of pre-machined center bores The machines used for the production or fine machining of center bores, which work either according to the form drilling process or according to a grinding or lapping process, are known to have various disadvantages, which consist in the fact that they have too rough surfaces or only conical, but do not create convex surfaces.
In addition, the roundness of the centering depends on the accuracy of pre-machining on the outer surfaces of the workpiece. The known machines require a lot of time and skill in relation to the achieved support and centering quality and work with expensive tools with a short service life.
To avoid these disadvantages, in cases of high accuracy requirements, a method of working is used in which the workpiece is pressed by hand against a rapidly rotating center punch using lapping paste, while the free end of the workpiece is simultaneously set in a circular tumbling movement as possible , so that a near the free end of the work piece lying point of the workpiece axis moves approximately on a circle.
Skillful rolling movements between the end of the workpiece and the palm of the hand can be superimposed on the circular movement by an additional rotary movement around the workpiece axis, which further increases the accuracy of the machining.
Regardless of whether the wall of the centering hole is pre-machined as a cone or as a body of revolution of a curved line, curved lines are produced in any case when using this method, i.e. Compared to the tip of the cone, the flanks are crowned when the diameter of the oscillating circle at the free end of the workpiece is changed rhythmically between zero and a maximum dimension during lapping.
The tumbling movement is very effective for the lapping process, because initially, as a result of the enforced point support between lapping grains and wall, it creates cavities, the position of which changes constantly, and which allow fresh lapping grain to access the surfaces to be processed.
The advantages of the hand lapping method are opposed by significant disadvantages, which can be seen in the fact that the method of operation is very time-consuming because the frequency of the tumbling movement is very limited, that it is still very strenuous because the contact pressure has to be exerted by hand.
The invention solves the problem of making the advantages of the explained hand lapping method by mechanization in a more economical way and, moreover, the degree of accuracy of the machining to increase with more precise movements.
This is based on known machines for machining centering bores by means of rotating machining tools tapering towards the workpiece with axial workpiece support by the machining tools reaching into the centering bores. According to the invention, such an arrangement is further developed in that at least one axial workpiece support is arranged to rotate eccentrically about the main axis of the headstock.
With a machine designed in this way, minor errors in concentricity and alignment of the machining tools do not affect the machining accuracy.
The machine can also be designed so that both center bores can be machined at the same time.
Accordingly, a preferred embodiment of the invention results when both axial workpiece supports are arranged eccentrically on a rotatable carrier each and are used as machining tools, e.g. Lapping cones are formed.
The invention is explained below with reference to drawings ter exemplary embodiments.
1 shows a first embodiment of the machine in side view, FIG. 2 shows a second embodiment of the machine in section along the line III-III in FIG. 3 through one end of the machine corresponding in its other structure to FIG. 1; FIG. 3 shows a view of FIG. 2.
According to Fig. 1, two motors 1, 1 each drive a continuously variable transmission 2a and 2b with opposite directions of rotation. The speeds of the two output shafts 5, 5, which should differ from one another by a small amount, can be set by means of hand levers 4 and can be read off on speed meters 3. On the output shafts 5.5 rotatable tool carriers 6, 6 are placed, with which ben 7, 7 processing tools 8a and 8b are rotatably connected with a certain eccentricity.
The eccentricity of each machining tool 8a or 8b, which is simultaneously embodied as an axial support for the workpiece 17, can be set and locked by moving the disk 7 relative to the carrier 6. The motors 1, 1 with the output shafts 5, 5 thus form the spindle sticks a and b of the machine with the tool carriers 6, 6 and the adjustable disks 7, 7 and the lapping cones 8, 8.
The headstock a is to adjust the Ma machine the workpiece length by means of slide 9 in the axial direction and can be locked. The headstock b is also movable in the axial direction by means of the slide 10 and is continuously pulled in the direction of the headstock a by a tension spring 13 via an arm 11 and a pull rod 12. The spring force can be adjusted by means of a cord screw 14, depending on the desired working pressure.
The machine is also provided with a carriage 15 which carries two resilient supports 16 for the work piece 17. By means of a lever 18, a cam 19 can be pivoted, which, when pivoted to the right, rests against the arm 11 and moves the headstock b from the headstock a to the right so far that the distance between the lapping cones 8, 8 is greater than the length of the Workpiece 17. An adjustable and lockable stop 20 moves the slide 15 via an arm 21 attached to the slide 15 likewise to the right so far that the work piece 17 can be lifted transversely to the axis.
After inserting a workpiece 17, the lever 18 is pivoted to the left. The headstock b is pulled into its working position by the spring 13, and at the same time the carriage 15 is brought into the center position by an adjustable and lockable stop 22.
In this embodiment, since the lapping cones or other processing tools cannot be rotated with respect to their carrier 6, the oscillation frequency transmitted to the workpiece 17 is approximately equal to the highest lapping cone speed. Since this can be relatively high, the oscillation frequency of the workpiece is also correspondingly high. This form of execution is therefore primarily suitable for axially symmetrical, lighter workpieces, although the possibility of reducing the lapping cone speeds provides an adjustment option, but this is at the expense of processing time.
In Figs. 2 and 3, on the other hand, an imple mentation of the machine is shown, which is also suitable for heavy and asymmetrical workpieces, because in her the oscillation frequency can be selected independently of the lapping cone speed. In Fig. 2 only the headstock a is shown with references to its relationship to the headstock b because the rest of the structure of the machine corresponds to that of FIG.
The motor 1 drives a shaft 5 formed as a spline shaft, which drives the tool pendulums 8c quickly and in opposite directions via belt drives 3a and 3b. At the same time, the shaft 5 via Rie mentriebe 5a and 5b, the carriers 6, 6, which are designed here as spindle carriers, in the same direction or alternatively in opposite directions in slow rotations. The disk 7 with an eccentricity that can be set and locked is in turn arranged on the spindle carriers 6, 6 and is provided here with a sleeve-shaped extension 7a for the rotatable reception of the tool spindle 8c.
The belt drives 3a and 3b are elastic in order to compensate for the eccentric movements of the small pulleys on the spindles 8c due to the off-center setting of the disc 7, on which the processing tools 8a and 8b are mounted centrally. The belt drives 5a and 5b have slightly different transmission ratios.
In both embodiments, the size of the eccentricity of the machining tools is selected depending on the length, weight and size of the pre-drilled centering of the workpiece and according to the state of the machine on which the workpieces are to be further machined later. As a rule, the eccentricity can be selected to be the same on both sides of the machine. The counter-rotation of the machining tools will generally make a holding device superfluous, which, however, would have to access elastically in the vibration center.
In both embodiments, the oscillation process is also the same, provided that work is carried out in opposite directions. The workpiece, vibrating continuously, assumes every possible position between the two extreme positions of zero offset (if the two eccentricities cancel each other) and maximum offset (when the two eccentricities add up), with the maxima of the oscillation curve moving much more slowly around the workpiece move than the lapping cones move eccentrically (speed difference!).
As a result, the effect of the additional rotation of the workpiece about its axis described in the manual lapping process is imitated, so that it can be omitted during machining. Even when the workpiece is not rotating, all points on the centering bore wall are attacked evenly and in a certain rhythm by the lapping cones.
If the machine according to FIGS. 2 and 3 is operated in the same direction, the oscillation process is similar in terms of the sequence of movements and its effect is the same as that of the machine according to FIG. 1. However, the oscillation frequency is significantly lower than in the embodiment according to FIG. 1 because the eccentric centers rotate more slowly than the lapping cones. Here, too, only one oscillating movement occurs between the extreme positions during about one eccentric rotation, while there are two oscillating movements in the case of counter-rotation.
The machine according to the invention is suitable for the use of lapping tools, lapping cones, scraping tools, smoothing tools and grinding tools.
