Device for remote control of a welding transformer It is known to regulate the welding power source from the work place without the use of special control lines in the electric arc welding by the control current is conveyed through the welding cable. In a known control device of this type, the welding current source also represents the current source of the control current. The control currents come about when the welder attaches the welding electrode or the welding cable to the workpiece or the return line via one or the other of two different sizes provided at the workplace Resistors.
So two different control currents can be selected, both of which must be wesent Lich lower than the lowest occurring welding current. The receiver located at the welding power source contains two relays, which are controlled by the current in the welding circuit via a current-dependent device in such a way that one relay responds to the one control current and controls in one direction, while the other relay ( or both relays) responds to the other control current intensity and causes regulation in the other direction.
To prevent the relays from responding incorrectly, the higher control current must be significantly lower than the lowest welding current that occurs, the lower control current, however, significantly higher than the leakage currents that occur in practice, and the difference between the two control current levels is also significantly greater than the leakage currents . To counteract any unstable contact resistances in the control circuit, relatively high control currents are desired. These different desires are sometimes difficult to combine. In another known control device, the control circuit contains an alternating current source which is separate from the welding current source and which is connected in series with the winding of a polarized relay.
The response of the polarized relay in one direction or the other causes a change in the setting of the welding power source against higher or lower currents. In this case, the control currents are introduced by the welder in that the welding electrode is connected to the workpiece via a special rectifier which is switched on with one or the other direction of flow depending on the desired change in the setting of the welding current source.
The welding process is initiated by the welder by placing the electrode directly against the workpiece, the welding cable being automatically switched away from the control current source and the polarized relay by special relay devices and instead being connected to the welding current source. The mentioned relay devices are expensive and bring an undesirable complication of the welding system with it.
The present invention has for the purpose of producing an improved remote control device for a welding transformer which does not have the disadvantages of the known devices. The device according to the invention belongs to the type in which the remote setting of the welding transformer is carried out by means of control currents which are passed over the welding cable, the control circuit being an alternating current source, a transmitter in series with the welding cable at the welding station, which is a rectifier Has the same direction of the control current, and contains a receiver sensitive only to direct current, which latter controls a current regulator of the welding transformer.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that the secondary winding of the welding transformer serves as the alternating current source, and that the receiver is connected in series with the welding circuit. This achieves, among other things, that during the control process there is no interruption of the connection between the welding cable and the welding transformer, and that the strength of the control current can easily be selected to be sufficiently high for a reliable control effect. It is even possible to choose a control current of the same order of magnitude as the welding current.
Various exemplary embodiments of the invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows schematically a first embodiment example of a welding system.
Fig.2 shows a modification of the ge in Fig. 1 showed remote control device.
Fig. 3 shows a circuit diagram of another imple mentation form of a control current receiver.
4 shows another embodiment which, in contrast to the devices according to FIGS. 1 to 3, operates with control currents in two current directions, and FIGS. 5 and 6 show embodiments of control current generators for the selective generation of a control current in one or the other direction tion.
The system shown in FIG. 1 comprises a welding transformer 1 with the input terminals 2 and the output terminals 3. The reactance of the transformer can be set by hand using the wheel 4. The wheel actuates z. B. a movable Streujoch or a movable winding of the transformer. For remote control of the reac dance an adjusting motor 5 is also provided, which rotates the wheel shaft by means of a drive 6 which is provided with a friction clutch, not shown, or a clutch that can be switched on and off. For the control current transmission, a device is used which has a box 7 with two Scheitelkon 8, 9 and 10 contact with the ground.
Between tween the one top contact 9 and the bottom contact 10, the series connection of a Widerstan of 11, a resistor 12 and a dry rectifier 13 is turned on. The junction of the resistors 11 and 12 is telkontakt 8 connected to the second Schei. To remotely control the transformer, the welder attaches the box to the workpiece 14 or to a part electrically connected to the workpiece and brings the electrode 15 or the electrode holder into contact with one of the top contacts 8, 9, with a control current in the same direction through the welding circuit flows. The control current receiver arranged by the welding transformer contains a transducer 16 with two direct current windings <I> 16A,
</I> 16B and an AC winding 16C. The DC winding 16A represents the control winding of the transducer and is connected in series with the welding circuit. The direct current winding 16B is a pre-magnetization winding which is excited by a direct current (Refe renzstrom) which can be regulated by means of a resistor 17. The direct current is supplied from the secondary winding TS2 of a transformer T via the full-wave rectifier 18. The primary winding TP is connected to the network. The alternating current winding 16C is the working winding of the transductor, the reactance of which is dependent on the direct current excitation of the transductor core. The number of ampere turns of the winding 16B is sufficient to excite the core at least to saturation when the winding 16A is de-energized.
The winding 16A is connected in such a way that the number of ampere turns of the control current rectified by the rectifier 13 is directed in the opposite direction to the number of ampere turns of the winding 16B. The circuits of the windings 16A, 16B are dimensioned in such a way that closing the control circuit through contact 9 reduces the direct current excitation of the transducer to a value below the saturation point and that closing the control circuit through contact 8 further reduces the direct current excitation of the transductor. The reactance of the working winding 16C thus increases when a control current flows in the welding circuit. one or the other of two higher who th, depending on whether one or the other of the contacts 8, 9 is turned on.
The working winding is connected to the secondary winding TS3 of the transformer T in series with a full-wave rectifier 19. The full-wave rectifier 19 forms on the direct current side in series with a controllable resistor 20 one branch (transmitter branch) of a bridge circuit, the other branch (comparator branch) also has a controllable resistor 21 in series with a full-wave rectifier 22, which is from the secondary winding TS4 of the Transformer T is fed. The rectifiers 19, 22 are connected in such a way that they have the same forward direction in the closed direct current loop formed by the two branches.
The measuring branch of the bridge, which is connected between the connection points of the two branches just described, contains the series connection of the working windings of two relays 23, 24 and a rectifier 25, which is connected in such a way that the measuring branch against that of the full-wave rectifier 19 im Encoder latch of the bridge supplied current is blocked. No current can therefore flow in the measuring arm before the direct voltage output by the rectifier 19 in the transmitter arm has dropped below the value at which the bridge is balanced, i.e. H. at which the voltage across the measuring branch is zero.
The aforementioned direct voltage output is proportional to the difference between the voltage of the winding TS3 and the voltage drop in the working winding 16C. When the bridge is balanced, a certain reactance of the winding 16C must be present. The bridge is dimensioned so that the mentioned reactance value of the winding 16C corresponding to the balanced state is between its reactance when the winding 16A is de-energized and its reactance when the winding 16A is traversed by a control current closed at contact 9, is located. A certain lower current will flow through the measuring arm when the control current runs through the contact 9, and a certain higher current will flow when the control current flows through the contact 8.
One relay 23 responds to both the lower and the higher current. The other relay 24, the winding of which was connected in parallel with a resistance 26, only responds to the higher current. The working contacts 23a, 24a of the relays 23, 24 each control an intermediate relay 27, 28. The relay 27 has two working contacts 27a, and the relay 28 has two changeover contacts 28a, which represent a pole-changing switch for the armature circuit 29 of the motor 5. If the relay 27 speaks on its own, a DC power source connected to the terminals 31 is connected to the excitation circuit 30 of the motor 5, on the other hand, via the changeover contacts 28a in its rest position to the armature circuit of the motor 5.
The motor is set in motion in the direction of rotation that corresponds to a reduction in the secondary current of the transformer 1. When both relays 27 and 28 respond, the excitation circuit of the motor is switched on in the same way as described above, while the armature circuit via the changeover contacts 28a in the working position is supplied with a current in the direction that a reduction of the secondary current of the transformer 1 corresponds. In both cases, the motor is stopped immediately when the control circuit is interrupted when the contact 9 or 8.
The welder can thus achieve a greater or lesser change in the current setting by keeping the control circuit closed for a longer or shorter period of time.
The rectifier 13 is connected in such a way that the direction of the control current passed by it is opposite to the direction of the DC component of the welding current. The component in question is generally directed in an arc from the workpiece to the electrode. It is thereby achieved that the rectified component of the welding current excites the iron core of the transducer in the same direction as the premagnetization through the winding 16B and thus does not cause an increase in the reactance of the working winding 16C. A further guarantee against undesired response of the receiver is obtained in that the alternating current flowing in the winding 16A during the welding is sufficiently high to further saturate the transducer core.
The device described is also insensitive to any alternating leakage currents from the welding cable to the return line. Strö men corresponding induced alternating voltage in the transducer winding 16B causes an increase in the pre-magnetization direct current flowing through the winding mentioned.
The device described can be modified in various ways. The relays 23 and 24 can, for. B. executed as a polarized relay who the, the rectifier valve 25 is superfluous. It is also possible in principle to omit the rectifier 22 and / or the rectifier 19 and to connect the AC circuits directly to the bridge branches in question. The resistors 20, 21 can be replaced by reactances. Another modification of the bridge circuit is illustrated in FIG. The details TS3, TS4, 16C 19, 21 to 24 and 26 correspond to the details provided with the same designations in FIG. 1.
The full-wave rectifiers 19 and 22 are connected on the DC side in series and counteracting each other in a circuit, wel cher the resistor 21 and the working windings of the relays 23, 24 contains. With the DC terminals of the full-wave rectifier 19, a controllable resistor 32 is connected in parallel. The operation of the circuit described is as follows: Normally, the working winding 16C of the transducer has a low reactance, so that the rectifier 19 sends a relatively high current through the resistor 32 and causes a voltage drop via this resistor, which is greater than the output voltage of the Rectifier 22 is.
Because of the latter, no current can flow through the relays 23, 24. When a control current flows through the control winding of the transducer and the reactance of the winding -16C- is increased as a result, the current through the resistor 32 and thus also the voltage drop across the said resistor drops so much that the rectifier 22 generates a current by. the ge called resistance and thus also through the relays 23 and 24 can send which current is larger or smaller, depending on whether the control current through the control winding of the transducer is larger or smaller. The device will thus act in the same way as that described with reference to FIG.
Fig. 3 shows another example of a control current receiver which is arranged for control currents of the same type as in Fig. 1, i. H. currents directed in the same direction, which have the same direction but different strengths, corresponding to an increase or decrease in the welding current strength.
A small resistor 33 is inserted in the welding circuit and, in parallel, the series connection of a transformer primary winding, which acts as a choke coil 34, and the parallel working windings of two polarized relays 35, 36. The winding of the relay 36 is connected in series with a resistor 37. The working contacts of the polarized relays control a servomotor in the same way as the working contacts 23A, 24A in FIG. 1 do.
The choke coil 34 has the task of protecting the polarized relay from the alternating voltage occurring during welding via the resistor 33 by the choke absorbing the main part of this alternating voltage.
In the embodiment shown, an additional protective effect is obtained in that the choke coil 34 is provided with a secondary winding 38, which feeds a relay 40 via a full-wave rectifier 39, the working contact of which short-circuits the working windings of the relays 35, 36.
The resistance 33 should be low so that undesirably high energy losses are not caused during the welding. The control voltage occurring across this resistor is therefore quite low. On the other hand, polarized relays can be made with high response sensitivity, and furthermore, due to the use of rectified control currents, it is possible to use control currents which are not far below the welding currents or are even the same size as the welding currents.
Fig. 4 shows an example of a device which works with control currents in both directions, accordingly an up or down regulation of the power source. The control current generator 42 is provided for this purpose with two oppositely connected rectifiers 43, 44, which on the one hand each to an apex contact 45, 46, on the other hand via a common resistor 47 to the ground contact 48 are closed. In the same way as the receiver shown in FIG. 3, the control current receiver comprises a resistor 49 inserted in the welding circuit and, in parallel, a series circuit of the primary winding 50 acting as a choke coil and the working windings of two polarized relays 51, 52 connected in parallel.
The same are switched in such a way that one relay responds for a control current in one direction, the other relay for a control current in the other direction. The normally open contacts of the relays 51, 52 control an adjustment motor of the welding transformer via control relays (not shown) in such a way that the setting changes in one direction when the relay 51 responds and in the other direction when the relay 52 responds.
To relieve the work windings of the relays 51, 52 during welding, the same are short-circuited as in the device according to FIG. 3 by a working contact 53 of a relay 54 whose working winding is fed via a full-wave rectifier 55 from a secondary winding provided on the choke coil 50.
Fig. 5 shows another embodiment of a control current generator, which is to work together with a receiver according to FIG. In this embodiment, the transmitter has only two contacts 61, 62, between which a rectifier stood in series with a counter 64 is switched on. In the position shown, the contact 61 represents the top contact and the contact 62 represents the ground contact. To send a control current in the other direction, the sensor is turned inside out, so that the contact 62 now represents the top contact. In the exemplary embodiments described, the adjusting motor remains in motion until the control circuit is interrupted.
However, it is easily possible to take such precautions instead that the setting motor is automatically shut down each time the control current is closed after a certain time or after a certain setting change has been made, so that if, for example, the setting change that has been made does not turn out to be proves sufficiently, a renewed closing of the control current must be made. It is also possible to take such precautions that the welder can bring about either one of several predetermined setting changes or a setting change of a selectable speed that continues over the entire duration of the control current.
Fig. 6 shows an example of a specially designed for this purpose control current transmitter with four top contacts 57-60, by means of which each ge desired of four control current states can be vorgeru fen, namely a lower and a higher control current from one current direction and a lower and a higher control current from the other current direction. The receiving device can basically be constructed in the same way as the device according to FIG. 4, in that each of the relays 51, 52 is replaced by two relays connected in series or in parallel, which are dimensioned so that they respond to different control currents. It can, for. B.
the response of one relay of the pair causes a predetermined change in setting, while the response of both relays causes a progressive change in the setting until the control current is interrupted.
