Adjustable piece of furniture, especially for school use The invention relates to an adjustable piece of furniture, such as a bench, desk or chair, especially for school use.
Consoles with telescopically adjustable supports are known, with a screw spindle as the adjustment means. Each screw spindle is provided with a chain wheel directly under the desk top. The sprockets are coupled together by means of an endless chain and are operated by hand with a crank.
The invention has for its object to equip any number of different pieces of furniture with just one gear and to adjust both the height of individual parts and their forward-backward direction with the gear. In a chair with an adjustable backrest, both the height of the backrest and the size of the seat are adjusted at the same time.
The solution was found in that the ends of the screw spindles known per se are arranged in an accessible manner and are provided with parallel shafts spaced apart from the spindles, which are connected to one another by a power transmission and in the case of at least one of the shafts with a crank is provided.
As a power transmission means, for. B. be provided a chain.
The power transmission means do not have to be arranged at the upper ends of the screw spindles. Rather, the drive can take place via couplable shafts which are arranged in an easily accessible housing. The supports of the bench, chair or table are preferably arranged parallel and at an oblique angle to the table or seat surface. With an increase or decrease in the bench, desk or chair, a horizontal movement of the table or seat surface in relation to the lower parts of the supports is caused at the same time, so that an adjustment takes place both in the vertical and in the horizontal direction to adapt to the Proportions of the user.
In the event of an adjustment of the backrest, an increase or decrease in the backrest also causes a backward or forward offset in relation to the seat surface and then an increase or decrease in the seat surface.
Finally, it is advantageous to provide a safety device so that the transmission can only work when the shafts are properly coupled with the screw spindles.
Another advantage of the invention is that the manufacture of the adjustable parts is simple and cheap and a large number of benches, desks or chairs can be adjusted with the same gear.
Some exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown, for example, in the drawing. 1 shows a side view of a school desk, FIG. 2 shows a plan view according to FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows, on a larger scale, a longitudinal section through a support with drive and coupling, FIG. 4 shows a horizontal section through the upper part of a desk with gear, FIG. 5 shows another embodiment in section corresponding to FIG. 3, FIG. 6 shows a side view of a chair according to the invention,
7 shows another embodiment of a chair in a perspective view, FIG. 8 shows a longitudinal section of a chair leg on a larger scale, FIG. 9 shows the chair according to FIG. 7 in side view, FIG. 10 shows another chair in side view. According to Fig: 1-4, the bench is provided with two parallel supports. Each support consists of a tubular lower part 1 and a tubular upper part 2, which are attached to the frame 3 and struts 4, serves as a guide.
A board 5, which is hinged to a cover 6, is arranged on the frame 3. On the frame 3 hangs a box 7. Above the board 5, a housing 8 is arranged, which contains a sprocket 9 above each support 1, 2 and an endless chain 11 and tension rollers 12 (Fig. 2).
As can be seen from Fig. 3, a bearing 13 is attached to the upper end of the support parts 2, in which a screw spindle 14 is rotatably mounted but not axially slidable ver. The screw spindle runs through a nut 15 which is fastened in the upper end of the lower support part 1. The upper end of the screw spindle is provided with a recess 16 of, for. B. hexagonal cross-section, and just above the recess 16 is a hole 17 in the board 5. Both supports are formed out in the same way.
The sprocket 9 contained in the housing 8 is attached to a shaft 18 which are mounted in sleeves 19 and 20 be fastened in the housing 8 BE. The shaft 18 with the chain wheel 9 is axially displaceable in the bearing bushes 19, 20, but the hub 21 of the chain wheel 9 rests against the bush 19 under the pressure of a spring 22. In the sleeve 19 four holes 23 are provided. A locking pin 24 on the hub 21 can sink into bores 23. In addition, the shaft 18 carries at its lower end a corresponding to the recess 16 formed pin 25 which is inserted into the recess 16 of the screw spindle. The upper end of the shaft 18 also has a recess 26 into which a crank 27 is inserted.
When the housing 8 is mounted above a bank and the pins 25 in the recesses 16, the pins 25 will rest against the bottom of the recesses 16, and the underside of the housing 8 is a small distance above the board 5, as shown in Fig. 3 can be seen. Each pin 24 engages in a bore 23 in the bushes 19 so that the Ket tenräder can not be operated by means of the crank. When the housing is depressed, the two sleeves 19 are pushed down and the pins 24 disengage. The chain wheels 9 can now be rotated with the crank, each screw spindle 14 being rotated.
The supports are lengthened or shortened in equal measure, and the bench is raised or lowered. If one or the other pin 25 has not been pressed against the bottom of the depressions 16, the pin 24 cannot be released freely from the bore 23.
The chain wheel 9 and thereby also its shaft 18 are in firm engagement, and the shaft 18 or the screw spindle 14 cannot be actuated. The shafts 18 can therefore cooperate when both are verbun with their screw spindles 14 the. They can only be turned together with the result that the upper parts of the bench are raised or lowered equally on the two supports, so that an uneven incline of the bench is excluded.
A transmission according to the invention is therefore sufficient for adjustable school furniture in a school. The school desk can be described z. B. have a lower height of 53 cm and an upper height of 84 cm, so that a school desk can be adjusted not only according to the student who is to sit in the bench, but also in the rhythm of the growth of this student.
As a result of the angular position of the supports, it is also achieved that when the bench is raised, there is always a movement of the surface 5, 6 away from the seat at the bench, so that the student has a larger space available.
If the guarantee is given that both pins 25 are always coupled to the screw spindles when the gear is used, the locking device (pins 24 according to FIG. 3) can be omitted, as shown in FIG. Each shaft 18, which carries a sprocket 9 in engagement with the chain 11, is then rotatably but axially immovable in the housing 8. The ends of the shafts 18 are engaged with the screw spindles 14, and the shaft 18 carries the crank 27.
The invention can also be used for chairs in the manner shown in FIG. The chair has two supports which consist of a tubular lower part 31 and a tubular upper part 32. A seat 33 is attached to the tops 32 and supported by the struts 34. The lower and upper parts of each support (leg) are adjustable as shown in Fig. 3, i. H. by means of internal screw spindles, the upper ends of which are accessible through openings in the seat board, so that a transmission according to FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 can be attached. On the underside of the seat 33 and on the upper parts 32, a guide rail 35 is attached.
A holder 36 is slidably mounted in the guide rail and held by means of a clamping screw 37. The holder 36 supports a backrest 38. The legs of the chair are angled and the guide rail 35 is arranged at an angle of about 300 to the seat surface, i. H. about 120 to the backrest. Any change in the height of the seat causes both a horizontal and a vertical displacement of the seat. Furthermore, every shift of the backrest in relation to the seat causes a change in the horizontal and vertical directions.
The chair of FIGS. 7-9 also has two parallel supports (legs), each consisting of the lower part 31 and upper part 32. The upper parts 32 carry the seat 33, which is supported by struts 34. According to FIG. 8, the supports (legs) contain a nut 39 in the lower part 31, a screw spindle 40 in engagement with the nut 39, and a further screw spindle 41 which is firmly connected to the first-mentioned screw spindle 40. A nut 42 is fastened in the inner end of the holder 36 and in engagement with the screw spindle 41. Both spindles 40, 41 are rotatably mounted in two bearings 43, but are axially immovable.
The spindles 40, 41 have opposite threads, so that a rotation of the spindles, the nuts 39, 42 and thus the parts 31 and 36 approaches one another or apart. The upper ends of the screw spindles 41 can be coupled together at the bend of the holder 36 behind the lower edge of the backrest with the gear described above.
As indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 9, an increase in the seat surface 33 also causes the seat to move backwards. The backrest 38 is initially just above the upper end of the upper part 32, but with the increase in the seat 33, the backrest 38 has not only been raised, but also shifted backwards by the distance x from the upper end of the parts 32 or in relation to seat 33.
By this measure, the chair, if it is in z. B. is used in a school, can be adjusted so that the height of the chair is increased in time with the growth of the student, the backrest is increased and moved backwards in relation to the seat.
The backrest is adjusted to the correct height and the seat area is enlarged. The chair is therefore adjusted according to the growth of the various body parts of the student. This makes it possible to use the same seating for a student throughout his school days and the various benches and chairs in a classroom can be adjusted to suit each individual student.
The chair of Fig. 10 has the same adjustment device as in Fig. 8, but the screw spins are not fixed, but hinged, for. B. by universal joint, bevel gear teeth or the like between the bearings, where the upper part 32 of each support (leg) forms an angle. In this case, the backrest 38 has a greater horizontal movement than the seat 33 for each change in the height of the backrest and the seat. A difference in the offset of the backrest and the seat can also be made possible by different pitch of the screw spindles.
Since the distance between the supports (legs) of the chair is usually shorter than that of the bench, the gear unit must have a shorter distance between its shafts to operate a chair compared to a bench.
It also falls within the scope of the invention if the supports consist of mutually sliding rails and the power transmission between the shafts consists of a rope, a V-belt, a shaft with toothed wheels or the like.
