<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Hand grenade The present invention relates to a hand grenade with an explosive charge, an ignition delay element with detonator, a mechanical striking device that can be triggered via a mechanical armoring device for actuating the ignition element, a detonator and a transmission element between the detonator and detonator.
According to the invention, this hand grenade is characterized in that the striking device and the ignition delay element with detonator are fixedly arranged in a line of action to one another, while at least the transmission element sits in a slider that can be influenced via the armoring device and which, when the hand grenade is in the secured state, the transmission element outside the said line of action holds,
so that when the armoring device is actuated in the first phase, the ignition element is ignited by the striking device, leaving the transmission element in its effective position, and only when the arming device is actuated further in the second phase, the slide is released to execute a movement End position the transmission element lies in the specified line of action,
In which position it can only transfer the ignition to the detonator and the explosive charge.
The accompanying drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of the hand grenade according to the invention. They show: Fig. 1 a longitudinal section through a stick hand grenade according to the first embodiment, Fig. 2 a cross section along the line 11-II in Fig. 1 of the same, Fig. 3 a longitudinal section through a stick-less hand grenade according to the second embodiment,
4 shows a cross section along the line IV-IV in FIG. 3, FIG. 5 shows a cross section along the line V-V in FIG. 3 and FIG. 6 shows a detail of the handle-less hand grenade. The in Figs. 1 and. 2 stick hand grenade shown has a cup-shaped head 2 containing the explosive charge 1, onto which a cylindrical fragmentation casing 3 is screwed.
At the open end face of the head 2, a tubular handle 4, which forms the handle of the hand grenade and which carries an axially parallel, oval cross-section insert 5, is inserted in an axial extension. This insert has an axial blind hole 5a, in which the mechanical striking device formed from the striking spring 6 and the striking pin 7 is mounted so as to be longitudinally displaceable.
The input side of this bore 5a is slightly expanded to accommodate the cylindrical ignition delay element 8 with detonator, which in the inserted state are flush with the upper end of the insert. In addition to the bore 5a and running parallel to the axis, there is a second, continuous bore Sb of smaller diameter in the insert 5, which is greatly expanded at the level of the mainspring 6 up to its mouth on this side.
The partition between the bores 5a and 5b is perforated in the area of the striking device, as is the side of the wall of the bore 5b facing away from the bore 5a over approximately half the length of its widening starting from its mouth. This bore 5b is used to guide a locking rod 9, held in it longitudinally displaceably, with a thickening 9a and a driving pin 10 arranged diametrically in the latter, the free end of which protrudes into the bore 5 for temporarily driving the firing pin 7.
At its end on the handle side, the locking rod 9 carries a pivotably attached trigger ring 11. The
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Parts 9-11 form the armor of the hand grenade.
On the head-side end face of the insert 5, a swivel slide 12 through which the securing rod 9 passes in its securing position shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, with a pivot 13 lying outside the hand grenade axis, which is under the action of a hairpin spring 14. This swivel slide 12 has an opening which is arranged eccentrically to the axis of rotation and, in the position shown, also eccentrically to the longitudinal axis of the hand grenade, in which the transmission element 15 is inserted.
The head end of the handle 4 is closed by an inserted cover 16 which simultaneously serves as a holder for the axially inserted detonator 17. The other end of the handle 4 is, with the interposition of a sealing washer 18 preventing the ingress of moisture, closed by means of a slipped over cap 19 with handle flaps 19a.
In the handle-less hand grenade shown in FIGS. 3-6, the striking device and the armouring device basically consist of the same parts 6 and 7 or 9-11, as shown and described in FIGS. 1 and 2, including their guides 5a and 5b. The explosive charge is again marked with 1, its housing with 2. and the fragmentation jacket screwed onto the latter with 3.
The insert 105 with the bores 5a and 5b arranged within the housing 2 has a shaft part 105a which is oval in cross section and has a collar end 105b extending horizontally to one side at its upper end, the horizontal extent of which corresponds to the clear width of the housing 2 and runs diametrically in the same, so that the bore 5a and thus the ignition delay element 8 with detonator inserted therein lies in the immediate vicinity of the inner wall of the housing 2. In the collar 105b, resting on its bottom surface,
a wedge-shaped slide 112 is arranged horizontally displaceably, which under the action of a compression spring 20 has the tendency to assume the right end position shown in FIG. This slide 112 has on its contact side a circular recess 2.1 for accommodating the transmission element 15 and offset upwards and sideways, an elongated recess 22 opening on its upper side for receiving the detonator 17.
The arrangement of the rooms 21 and 2.2 to one another is such that they overlap and are communicating.
At the top, the collar end 105b is covered by a circular disk 116 which rests on the free end faces of ribs 2.a arranged axially parallel on the inner wall of the housing 2. This disk 116 simultaneously forms a partition between the explosive charge 1 and the ignition delay element 8 with the detonator. In FIG. 3, the slide 112 is shown in its effective position, in which it is held by the securing rod 9 against the force of the spring 20.
At the bottom, the housing 2 is closed by an inserted cover 23 with a recess 23a for engaging under the trigger ring 11. This cover 23 serves at the same time to fix the lower end of the insert shaft part 105a on the housing 2. Finally, a securing cap 119 with tabs 119a is slipped over the cover 2.3.
In both of the hand grenades shown and described, the striking device 6, 7 and the ignition delay element 8 with detonator are arranged fixedly to one another in a straight, axially parallel line. The transmission element 15, which has the task of transmitting the ignition of the detonator to the detonator 17, lies outside this line of action in the secured state of the hand grenade and is secured against change by the safety rod 9. To use the hand grenade, the cap 19 or 119 is to be torn off by pulling on its grip tab 19a or 119a, whereupon the trigger ring 11 can be grasped.
Subsequent pull on the ring 11 moves the safety rod 9 backwards while simultaneously tensioning the spring 6 and taking this striker 7 along with the driver 10. As soon as the latter can move backwards at the level of the wall opening in the insert 5 or 105a, it slides off the striker 7, which now strikes the igniter of the ignition delay element 8 by the relaxing spring 6, whereby a reliable ignition is ensured.
During this first phase of reinforcement, the securing rod 9 has also shifted axially within the slide 12 in FIGS. 1 and 2 or along the slide 112 in FIG. 3, but without releasing the same from its position of action.
Is in this ignited state due to special circumstances. If the hand grenade needs to be disarmed, the safety rod 9 is left in this position, the delay set will then burn through and ignite the detonator, but without any further consequences, since the transmission element 15 cannot be detected by the detonating detonator. By renewing the ignition delay element 8 with the detonator, the hand grenade would be ready for use again.
For normal use, however, the trigger ring 11 continues to be pulled, as a result of which the securing rod 9 slides out of the slide 12 or from the slide 112 in the second reinforcement phase, causing the slide 12 released in this way to pivot by the spring 14 (in FIG the clock hand) or
the slide 112 under the influence of the spring 2.0 carries out a shift (into the right end position shown in FIG. 4) in which the transfer element 15 lies directly above the delay element 8 with detonator, that is, in the line of action mentioned Position it only to transmit the ignition to the detonator 17
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
can, which in turn breaks through the cover 16 or the disk 116 and triggers the explosive charge 1.
In order to prevent the slide 112 from sliding back against the spring 20 when the thrown hand grenade hits, a nose-shaped leaf spring 24 is used, which is inserted in a recess 25 provided for this purpose in a flank of the said slide and which, when the slide shown in FIG position of the slide shown. 112 lays behind the shoulder of a recess 26 located in the adjacent side wall of the collar end 105b.
The hand grenade shown and described is, due to its design and mode of operation, extremely safe both in use and for storage and practically excludes duds. The separate arrangement of the ignition charge and the transfer charge or the spatial separation of the former in relation to the explosive charge is a great advantage for the storage of ready-to-use hand grenades. The wall thickness between the detonator and the explosive charge can be easily adapted to requirements.
Expediently, apart from the pyrotechnic charges, the splinter jacket, the armouring device, the striking device and the slide spring, all parts are made of thermoplastic material and connected to one another by means of suitable adhesives, which means that, in addition to corrosion resistance, an efficient and inexpensive production is given.
