Tetrahedral pack filled with flowable material
The present invention relates to a tetrahedral pack made of flexible film material filled with flowable material, with at least one closure strip, which runs along a tetrahedral edge and is produced by pressing flat and connecting the wall surfaces, in which a line of weakness is provided in the area of one of the corners to make it easier to tear off the corner.
Especially in the case of packs of this type that are filled with liquids, the tearing of the pack should take place completely in the direction of the closure strip, since grasping the thin-walled pack body easily unintentionally pushes part of the liquid or the liquid contents through the emptying opening formed. The fastener strip should therefore be grasped with both hands, one hand grasping one end part of the fastener strip and the other hand grasping a part further inward on the fastener strip.
While both hands are holding the sealing strip, they cause a pull, whereby the hand that grips the sealing strip further inwards, and thus the package itself, remains in place, while the other hand makes such a movement that the end part of the sealing strip away The rest of the closure strip is cut off or torn off, and that further the adjoining corner of the packaging wall itself is torn off, so that an emptying opening results.
Since the closure strip is twice as thick as the packaging wall and has a further increased tensile strength as a result of the sealing closure, opening the pack in the specified manner can be very difficult, so that special opening instruments, e.g. B. scissors must be used. Even if the tearing open as such is possible, the position of the drainage opening can vary. This is a significant disadvantage in the case of completely filled packs, since in the event that a deeper-reaching opening is created, part of the pack contents accidentally escapes.
The packaging of the present invention is intended to avoid these disadvantages. The tetrahedral pack according to this invention is characterized in that the line of weakness runs obliquely to the edge of the closure strip in the direction towards the associated corner, but ends above the level of the contents of the pack, which level is set when the corner to be torn up is held.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing and is described below with reference to this drawing.
In the drawing, a tetrahedral pack of the type so valued today is shown, which has an outer carrier layer 1, e.g. B. made of fiber material, and an inner, mainly uninterrupted sealing layer 2 made of plastic or the like. Has.
A tetrahedral pack of the specified type can be produced, for example, from a paper web coated on one side with plastic by forming this web with its plastic surface turned inwards into a tube with a longitudinal, normally overlapped connection, filling the tube with the relevant material to be packaged and passing through Flattening along closely spaced zones across the pipe axis alternately in one and the other of two mutually perpendicular planes is tightly sealed, whereby the pipe is divided into tetrahedral filled packs, which are jointly sealed by a separating cut in the two consecutive packs concerned. or closure zones can be separated from one another.
According to this type of production, the package has two closure strips 3 and 4, in each of which two opposite sides of the package are combined in a closure, which in the present case is produced by heating and tightly pressing the sections with the plastic layer of the two opposite sides of the packs, which meet in the fastener strip, is formed.
The pack to be described here is provided with a closure strip 3 with a slot 6, the starting point of which lies at the free closure strip side edge 5 at a closure strip end edge 7. The slot 6 extends from the starting point obliquely to the fastener strip side edge 5 at such an angle that a tearing force that is exerted by a person by holding the fastener strip 3 between the fastener strip end edge 10 and the slot 6 and pulling the fastener strip 3 between the The fastener strip end edge 7 engages and the fastener strip end at the slot and is directed mainly parallel to the fastener strip side edge 5 and in the direction of the relevant fastener strip end edge 7,
first tear off the closure strip end part at the slit 6 from the rest of the closure strip and then tear off an adjoining part of the packaging wall itself so that a sufficiently large emptying opening 8 is formed above the level 9 that is formed by the packaged material when the inside of the pack is normal Position of the opening is exposed to atmospheric pressure. The normal position of the opening is given when the packaging tip, which corresponds to the closure strip end edge 7, is directed upwards and the opposite side of the tetrahedral pack lies mainly in a horizontal plane.
The required length of the slot 6 and the angle between the direction of the slot and the side edge of the closure strip 5 are determined on the one hand by the tensile strength of the packaging material and the closure strip 3 and on the other hand by the desired size of the emptying opening 8, i.e. H. by the desired position of the opening 8 above the level 9.
Although a slot 6 is sufficient for the intended purpose, it can nevertheless be expedient for at least a part of the slot at the fastener strip side edge 5 to be wider, for example in a triangular shape. This makes the signs of tearing the pack more noticeable.
In the above-mentioned type of production of the tetrahedral filled packs, which are selected as an example in the present case, the intended tear marks are easily achieved when the tube made of packaging material is flattened and sealed along the transverse zones.
This flattening and sealing is normally effected by a pair of jaws which can be provided with a suitable punching knife or die along their working surfaces to produce the slot 6 in the closure strip. Since such a pair of jaws forms a closure strip during operation, which belongs to two consecutive packs, the punching knife is expediently designed as a double knife in the sense that it creates a slit in each of the two coinciding closure strips during punching.
Since the slots do not necessarily have to run straight, it is possible to provide such a double knife with a convex-concave design of the punched edges in such a position that the punch cut in the two closure strips that are connected during the sealing process, each of which becomes one of the successive two Packs belongs mainly symmetrically to the cut for separating the packs in question from each other.
Since it can be difficult to punch out part of the fastener strip with the desired reliability and remove it to form a triangular incision or the like that belongs to the tear-off indicator slot itself and makes its location more visible, the punch knife can be arranged so that there is a wedge effect has to widen the slot to a distance that is greater than the width of the punching knife itself, and / or shows a harpoon effect, so that when the pair of jaws is opened, one edge of the slot moves out of the plane of the fastener strip, the initially two slot edges together was. In the latter case, the end part of the closure strip, which is delimited by the slot in the finished pack at the slot, is displaced somewhat in the flat pressing direction with respect to the remaining part of the closure strip.
